Abstract

Abstract

Final-year students often experience career anxiety due to pressure in planning their future. Self-efficacy plays a crucial role in reducing such anxiety, yet effective self-help interventions remain limited. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the booklet “Career Calm: 30 Days to Improve Your Self-Efficacy” in increasing self-efficacy and reducing career anxiety. The research employed a one-group pretest-posttest design with a quantitative quasi-experimental approach. Thirty final-year university students in Surabaya experiencing career anxiety participated in a 30-day intervention. Results from the paired sample t-test showed a significant increase in self-efficacy and a decrease in career anxiety after the intervention (p < 0.001). However, correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between the two variables. These findings suggest the booklet is effective independently, though other mediating variables such as motivation or hope may influence the relationship. The booklet has potential as a self-help intervention tool in career counseling programs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between conflict resolution, religious behavior, and authentic happiness among married couples in Lampung Province. This research employed a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 100 married individuals residing in Lampung Province, selected through purposive sampling based on the following criteria: having been married for at least five years, having experienced marital conflict, not currently undergoing divorce or legal proceedings, and regularly engaging in religious practices. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires using a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicated that the independent variables jointly had a significant effect on authentic happiness (F = 82.797, p < 0.05). Conflict resolution and religious behavior together explained 62.3% of the variance in authentic happiness, while the remaining 37.7% was accounted for by other variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between work–family conflict and the psychological contract on work engagement, with psychological well-being as a mediating variable, among married female employees at a Regional General Hospital (RSUD). The research approach used is quantitative with an explanatory research design. The study participants consisted of 201 married female employees selected through random sampling. Data collection was conducted using four standardized psychological instruments measuring work–family conflict, psychological contract, psychological well-being, and work engagement. Data analysis was performed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method via SmartPLS software version 4. The results indicate that work–family conflict does not have a direct and significant effect on work engagement but does have a significant effect on psychological well-being. On the other hand, the psychological contract was found to have a positive and significant effect on both psychological well-being and work engagement. Furthermore, psychological well-being has a significant positive effect on work engagement and acts as a significant mediator in the relationship between work– family conflict and work engagement, as well as between the psychological contract and work engagement. These findings confirm that psychological well-being is an essential psychological mechanism in explaining work engagement among married female employees working in the healthcare sector.

Abstract

Mental health workers are a group that is particularly vulnerable to psychological distress. Limited availability of mental health personnel combined with excessive workload may adversely affect their psychological well-being, both at a personal level and in the delivery of mental health services. This study aimed to explore the dynamics of psychological well-being among mental health practitioner. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with three participants. The findings indicate that the participants’ psychological well-being was generally stable, despite the presence of work-related stress in the form of pressure and ongoing challenges. Internal factors contributing to psychological well-being included self-acceptance, adaptability, effective stress management, and a sense of meaning in both work and life. External factors, including interpersonal relationships and professional commitment, served as supportive elements for the internal factors. Together, these internal and external factors functioned as a balance against work-related stress. The study further revealed that each participant developed personal strategies to maintain and regulate their psychological well-being.

Abstract

Academic burnout, manifested through psychological exhaustion, cynical attitudes, and perceptions of helplessness, is a common phenomenon among medical education students. This quantitative study aims to examine the relationship between academic resilience and academic stress with academic burnout, as well as to investigate the moderating role of parental support. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey, the Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30), the Student Life Stress Inventory, and The Social Provisions Scale. Data analysis techniques employed moderated regression analysis and interaction effects, utilizing data transformation (centering) and the PROCESS macro-Hayes Model (Model 1). Based on findings from 112 participants selected through purposive sampling, moderation regression analysis (PROCESS Model 1 Hayes) revealed that academic resilience had a significant negative effect (β = -0.245; p < 0.001), while academic stress had a significant positive effect (β = 0.346; p < 0.001) on academic burnout. Parental support was found to significantly moderate both relationships. Parental support acted as an effective buffer by weakening the positive relationship between academic stress and academic burnout (interaction β = -0.0111; p < 0.001; ΔR² = 6.70%). However, parental support weakened the negative relationship between academic resilience and academic burnout (interaction β = 0.0354; p < 0.001; ΔR² = 9.65%), and at high levels of support, academic resilience was no longer a significant predictor. This indicates that excessive support has the potential to hinder the development of students' internal capacities. The research model explained 68.8% of the variance in academic burnout, implying the need for a balanced approach that simultaneously strengthens external support and develops internal resilience.
