Abstract

ABSTRACT Postpartum blues is a mild emotional disorder often experienced by mothers after childbirth, characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, crying spells, and mood swings. This condition can impact the mother's psychological health and the baby's care process if not properly managed. This study aims to determine the management of postpartum blues in postpartum mothers experiencing sadness or depression about their babies. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive analytical design. The sample consisted of 35 postpartum mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-square test. The results of the study showed that most mothers experienced mild to moderate postpartum blues. Factors influencing postpartum blues include lack of family support, hormonal changes, physical exhaustion, and anxiety in caring for a baby. Effective management includes emotional family support, health education, counseling, and assistance from healthcare professionals. The statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of postpartum blues management on the psychological well-being of mothers after childbirth. It was concluded that proper management of postpartum blues can help reduce the level of sadness and depression in mothers after giving birth and improve the mother's ability to care for her baby. Abstract

ABSTRACT Gestational hypertension is a pregnancy complication that can increase the risk of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Early detection of gestational hypertension is crucial to prevent the development of preeclampsia and other pregnancy complications. One screening method that can be used is the Roll Over Test ( ROT) , which is performed at approximately 28–32 weeks of gestation. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of routine Roll Over Tests at 32 weeks of gestation in early detection of gestational hypertension in pregnant women in the third trimester . The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive analytical design. The sample consisted of 40 pregnant women in their third trimester undergoing antenatal care. Data were collected through blood pressure measurements using the Rolling Test method and observations of pregnancy conditions. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi- Square test . The results showed that 30% of respondents had a positive Rollover Test result. The analysis showed a significant association between a positive Rollover Test result and the incidence of gestational hypertension (p = 0.003). Routine check-ups at 32 weeks of gestation can help identify pregnant women at risk of developing gestational hypertension early . Abstract

Gut microbiota play an important role in maintaining human health, including metabolism, immune function, and gastrointestinal health. Traditional fermented foods contain various probiotic microorganisms that may influence the composition and diversity of gut microbiota. However, evidence regarding the relationship between traditional fermented food consumption and gut microbiota diversity remains limited, particularly among Indonesian populations. This study aims to analyze the diversity of gut microbiota among individuals with different traditional fermented food consumption patterns. This study used a quantitative approach with an analytical observational design employing a cross-sectional method. The study involved 80 adults aged 20–50 years who were categorized into high and low fermented food consumption groups based on Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) results. Fecal samples were collected and analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Gut microbial diversity was assessed using the Shannon-Wiener, Chao1, and Simpson diversity indices. Data analysis was performed using the Independent t-test and Spearman correlation test. The results showed that participants with high traditional fermented food consumption had significantly higher Shannon-Wiener diversity indices compared to those with low consumption (4.52 ± 0.38 vs. 3.89 ± 0.41; p < 0.001). In addition, the relative abundances of beneficial bacterial genera, including Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Faecalibacterium, were significantly greater in the high-consumption group. Statistical analysis also revealed a positive correlation between fermented food consumption frequency and gut microbiota diversity (r = 0.621; p < 0.001). The study concludes that traditional fermented food consumption is associated with greater gut microbiota diversity and increased abundance of beneficial bacterial taxa. These findings suggest that regular consumption of traditional fermented foods may contribute positively to gut health and overall well-being

Abstract

Children with Down syndrome (DS) require continuous multidisciplinary rehabilitation to address delays in cognitive, motor, language, and adaptive development. However, conventional monitoring methods remain fragmented, limiting communication among therapists, parents, and teachers and reducing the continuity of care. This study explored therapists' perspectives on the development of an integrated digital monitoring system for children with DS.A descriptive qualitative study was conducted between May and June 2026 in Pontianak City and Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Nine therapists representing speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and behavioral therapy were purposively recruited. Data were collected through semi structured in depth interviews and analyzed using Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis.Six major themes emerged: (1) developmental challenges faced by children with DS, (2) barriers to home based therapy, (3) the need for an integrated digital monitoring system, (4) essential system features, (5) collaboration among therapists, parents, and teachers, and (6) limitations of current monitoring practices. Therapists emphasized that an integrated digital platform should support real time developmental tracking, home therapy monitoring, video based documentation, automated progress reports, and secure communication among stakeholders. Such a system was perceived as essential for strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration, improving continuity of rehabilitation, and supporting individualized interventions.Therapists recognized the urgent need for an integrated digital monitoring system to overcome the limitations of conventional monitoring. The proposed system has the potential to enhance family centered rehabilitation, facilitate evidence based clinical decision making, and improve developmental outcomes for children with DS.
