Conference on Management, Business, Innovation, Education and Social Sciences (CoMBInES) Conducting a research is one of the implementations of Three Pillars of Higher Education that has a crucial role for the development of science, technology, and arts as well as for the improvement of the welfare of society since the research results are directly implemented to the society/community. To spread more significant effect; not only for the society/community but also for more external parties; therefore, Universitas Internasional Batam hold a Conference on Management, Business, Innovation, Education and Social Sciences (CoMBInES) that is attended by lecturers and students from both domestic and overseas partners to disseminate their research works. Through this conference, the researchers are able to share their knowledge and motivation in the application of sustainable research activities.

Abstract

Current technological developments have a significant impact on human performance in fulfilling daily activities. The development of technology makes crime in the network more widespread so that network security is very influential on the prevention of attacks carried out by attackers. Examples of crimes such as theft of company data that cause harm to the company as well as other crimes. For that, a system that can detect attacks such as Denial of Service, Ping Attack, and Port Scanning. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) serves to monitor every network traffic that passes. The purpose of the study is to define the security of wireless networks and get results from the use of IDS. This implementation is carried out on the Linux Ubuntu operating system version 18.04 LTS using snort and Iptables as an attack deterrent. After that, use the opensource wireshark tool as an analysis of attacks that occur in the network. The research method used is the Security Policy Development Life Cycle (SPDLC) by passing through several stages, namely: Analysis, Design, Implementation, Enforcement, Enchancement. The results concluded that attacks carried out by attackers on the network can be known and handled before wider damage occurs as well as the use of wireshark that can analyze attacks properly through the flow graph provided.

Abstract

Abstrak Kinerja keuangan merupakan kemampuan perusahaan untuk mengelola dan mengendalikan sumber daya yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh outside director, board skill, gender diversity, direktur asing, dan ukuran dewan terhadap kinerja keuangan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). Objek penelitian ini adalah perusahaan terdaftar di BEI dari tahun 2015 hingga 2019. Metode pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini yakni purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa outside director, ukuran dewan, dan ukuran perusahaan memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap ROA. Sementara itu, variabel ukuran dewan, umur perusahaan, dan leverage memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap ROE.

Abstract

Programming capabilities in one of the most sought skills among the younger generation due to its usage among best-paid jobs in the future. Besides that, communication is also one of the highest tiers in 21st-century skills. In this study, we aim to investigate the relation between English proficiency and computer programming score among computer science undergraduate students in Batam. Data are gathered from 1438 data spanning from 2007 to 2020. Statistical analysis and Machine Learning are used to prove the relation between them results in a strong correlation between English proficiency and computer programming score.

Abstract

Shopee e-commerce is used to do shopping activities anywhere and anytime and has Shopeepay payment fintech. The shopee application produces a shopping system that suits the needs of its users for adolescents and adults. It is possible for the senior community to also use it. Here the researcher wants to find out whether Shopee and Fintech Shopeepay can be accepted by the senior community as a tool for searching and shopping online. This research is a qualitative research, using the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) approach with the interview method. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Perceived Authenticity, eWOM, Price Sensitivity on Purchase Intention Mediated by Perceived Value in Purchasing Luxury Branded Sports Shoes in Batam City. Data testing was carried out by distributing questionnaires online to 356 respondents in the form of Google with the criteria of users who have bought luxury branded shoes. Data processing used non-probability sampling methods and primary data were analyzed using SPSS and Smart PLS programs. The results of this study indicate that for all variables have a significant positive effect on Purchase Intention except Perceived Value which shows a significant negative.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the behavior and consumer confidence in the intention to buy halal cosmetics in Batam City. The research method used is quantitative method. The variables in this study are Religiosity, Brand Image, Trust and Attitude and Purchase Intention. The technique used in this research is purposive sampling. The object of research is consumers who have bought halal cosmetics in Batam City by distributing questionnaires via google form. The sample data used according to Hair et al., (2010) is the 1:10 technique. The data that has been collected by the researchers are 349 respondents. The data processed by the researcher is using the Smart PLS application. After this research was conducted, it can be concluded that Religiosity has a significant positive effect on Attitude, Brand Image has a significant positive effect on Attitude, Brand Image has a significant positive effect on Trust, Brand Image has a significant positive effect on Purchase Intention. Attitude has a significant positive effect on Purchase Intention, and Trust has a significant effect on Purchase Intention

Abstract

One of the movers of the success of the company’s products is human resources. Generally owner gives motivation to his workers. However, not all workers have same motivation. This research is to describe the results of the level of work motivation based on Maslow’s theory consisting of physiological, safety and security, love or belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 8 construction companies in Batam City. The highest level motivation needs is physiological with percentage of 5.87%, in the second place there is esteem with percentage of 5.62%. The third rank is love or belonging with percentage 5.41%. Last rank is safety and security with percentage 3.93%.

Abstract

Perusahaan dalam menghadapi krisis ekonomi telah melakukan berbagai cara untuk menghindari likuiditas yang ditangani agar tidak mengalami peningkatan. Penyimpanan atau persiapan arus kas yang disebut sebagai cash holdings dimanfaatkan saat kurangnya uang untuk pembelian aset. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan atau pembagian arus kas yang diperlukan perusahaan dalam menangani operasional. Dalam memenuhi kebutuhan perusahaan, pemakaian arus kas dibatasi agar keuntungan yang didapatkan oleh perusahaan tetap ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa besarnya hasil penilaian aspek perusahaan oleh para investor pada modal investasi yang semakin meningkat dengan arti kas berada ditingkat rata-rata. Berdasarkan penjelasan diatas, perusahaan harus mampu memperhitungkan kas yang sesuai.

Abstract

Photobook is a media that used to share a photographic product with a very high documentation value. Photobook can present or be a media to express the message content of an information on the topic to be raised. In making photobook, it is useful to introduce fractal photo styles by means of coffee shops in Batam City. A coffee shop is often defined as a hangout place for young people and parents who exist this day. The purpose of this research actually is to introduce the fractal photo style so that it can be more recognized by people in the city of Batam. Researchers will design fractal photography by using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method to assist in the research process. The application used by the author in making the research is adobe photoshop CC 2018 and the results of the photo shoot will be used with the Xiaomi Mi 9. The photos were taken at 7 coffee shops and resulted in a total of 20 photo shoots from the results obtained. The tools used in taking photos are triangle prism, teardrop prism and crystal prism. The results of the development of this photobook will show how to take photos with fractal photography from several coffee shops in Batam City.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi struktur modal. Variabel independen dalam penelitian ini berupa ukuran perusahaan, peluang pertumbuhan, profitabilitas, struktur aktiva, likuiditas dan risiko bisnis. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi data panel dengan sampel data diambil dari laporan keuangan perusahaan yang terdaftar di BEI untuk periode 2015-2019. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ukuran perusahaan dan risiko bisnis berpengaruh signifikan positif. Sedangkan, profitabilitas dan likuiditas berpengaruh signifikan negatif terhadap struktur modal. Penelitian ini tidak menemukan pengaruh signifikan dari peluang pertumbuhan dan struktur aktiva terhadap struktur modal.
