Abstract

This study holds significant importance as it investigates the various challenges that students face in comprehending academic texts, particularly in the study of Hadith in non-Arabic speaking countries. The main objective of this study is to identify the factors contributing to students' difficulties in mastering the subject, such as weak language skills, lack of practical application, and limited access to original sources. A key issue in this context is the students' reliance on memorization rather than deep understanding. The study employs a qualitative approach, drawing on the researcher's personal experience in Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, along with observations of students at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University. The findings reveal that insufficient Arabic language education, coupled with inadequate emphasis on discussion skills, has contributed to the difficulties in understanding the Hadith sciences. As a result, the study recommends a more balanced distribution of the curriculum across all academic years, greater use of primary sources in teaching, and increased practical training in Hadith studies to enhance students' comprehension of the subject. Moreover, it is advised to increase the credit hours allocated to Hadith sciences and Takhreej to ensure better understanding.

Abstract

Abū Rayyah, a prominent 20th-century Egyptian Islamic scholar, has sparked significant debate with his critical stance on the traditional processes of Ḥadīth collection and documentation. His arguments challenge long-standing views and practices, questioning the reliability of certain narrators and the methodologies employed in the early Islamic centuries. Aiming to contribute to the ongoing discourse surrounding the authenticity and methodology of Ḥadīth compilation within Islamic tradition, this paper provides a critical analysis of the views of Abū Rayyah on the recording of Ḥadīth, examining the historical context and scholarly responses to his critiques. Through a comprehensive review of primary sources, including Abū Rayyah's own writings and the responses from other Islamic scholars, the paper evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of his arguments. This involves analyzing his methodological approaches, his use of evidence, and the broader implications of his critiques for Islamic jurisprudence and theology. Ultimately, this study seeks to provide a balanced assessment of Abū Rayyah's contributions to the study of Ḥadīth, acknowledging his role in prompting critical reflection and debate while also considering the validity of the critiques against his views. By doing so, the paper aims to enhance the understanding of Ḥadīth recording practices and their impact on Islamic thought and practice.

Abstract

The paper discusses the need for Islamic leadership training as a solution for Economic Growth and safeguard to Democracy in Nigeria. It begins by outlining the economic challenges facing the country, such as high rate of abject poverty, inflation, corruption, weak economy, weedy political governance, insecurity and unemployment. It equally explains how economic problem has contributed to the rise of political instability and violence in Nigeria. Furthermore, the paper employs qualitative analysis where literary sources are used from print and e-materials. The study explains the conventional and Islamic concept of leadership. It stresses that Islamic leadership training can help to address these challenges by promoting economic justice and creating opportunities for people to participate in the political process. In conclusion, the paper emphasizes on the importance of Islamic leadership training in Nigerian political setting and recommends among others that Nigerian leaders should intensify their efforts to address the interests of the poor people across the country. This is because poor people who are hungry coupled with lack of education, good health, and shelter might not be interested in voting or engage in other electoral responsibilities.

Abstract

There has long been discussion and controversy about the relationship between Islam and politics, particularly in respect to the idea of separating religion and state. Religion has always been entwined with law and government in many Islamic societies. However, in countries with a majority of Muslims, the concept of keeping religion and the state apart, which is prevalent in many secular countries, has different meanings and uses. There are political systems in certain nations with a majority of Muslims that include aspects of Islam and politics working together as well as working apart. In many nations and situations, politics and Islam are frequently entwined. Like many other religions, Islam has tenets that can affect governance and political structures. Argue that Islam provides a moral compass for governance, while others emphasize the importance of individual freedoms and secular governance. Based on articles, books, and the comprehensive arguments of some researchers, this paper showed the relationship between Islam and politics from the perspective of religion and state.

Abstract

From the point of view of the philosophers, existence is original, and nature is a garment on the stature of existence Monotheistic religions, especially Islam, emphasize the necessity of human knowledge, and they introduce human knowledge as a way to achieve God's knowledge. God is an absolute and pure existence, so he will not dissolve in a place or a person. Christ was able to take on divine nature and become the Word of God with divine approval. This understanding highlights evidence of God's existence across both realms. What is certain is that monotheistic religions share closer ties than atheistic schools, suggesting that human beings and the fate of religious people are tied together more than in other societies. Establishing scholarly relationships among followers of divine religions requires clear and precise knowledge. Comparative studies between religions are one of the ways to create peace, coexistence, and rapprochement between the followers of religions. This study used an analytical and descriptive methodology. Our research framework is predicated on a comprehensive description and analysis of textual content, coupled with the extrapolation of verses, narratives, and authoritative sources from libraries to enhance our inquiry.  .

Abstract

The failure of United Nations interventions in maintaining environmental sustainability is evident as measures like the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals fall short in effectively addressing global environmental challenges. Therefore, it is crucial to mandate environmental ethics and laws for individuals, as collective effort proves more effective in addressing these concerns. This study explores how the environment and its sustainability are defined in early Islamic literature, with a primary focus on the Quran and Hadith (saying, action, or approval attributed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad). These works are considered the foundation of Islamic teachings and Arabic literature. Additionally, the paper examines the debate surrounding the meaning of sustainable development and the policy implications of various approaches from an Islamic perspective. Islam, as a religion, holds a deep sense of respect and consideration for the natural environment (Izzi Dien, 1990), with Islamic environmentalism ingrained within its teachings. Scientifically, this paper delves into how elements of the environment, such as mountains and water bodies, are defined in early Islamic literature, including contemporary poetry. Through a qualitative approach, it highlights the significant importance given to the environment in early Islamic literature. The study concludes that environmental conservation and ecological sustainability were extensively discussed in early Islamic literature, providing a framework for addressing numerous global environmental issues.

Abstract

Suicide bombing, a tactic employed in the contemporary time during war period, has generated intense debates among contemporary Muslim scholars across the globe as regards its  permissibility in Islamic law. Because of the utmost important nature of issues involved, diverse legal verdicts (fatawa) have been issued by some of these Muslim scholars; some of them oppose the act, while some others accept it as a means of resistance, with both groups premising their positions on specific textual evidences as well as legal principles.  Hence, this study aims at critically examining and analyzing legal verdicts (fatawa) of prominent contemporary Muslim scholars on the permissibility and otherwise of suicide bombing, exploring the jurisprudential underpinnings of their opinions. Utilizing a qualitative research, these verdicts shall be discussed to understand different perspectives of selected scholars on the issue. Also, primary sources employed for this research are Islamic jurisprudence texts, scholarly articles and fatawa collections. Findings reveal divergent opinions among scholars due to the variety in the interpretation of relevant texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Muslim scholars with the moderate perspective, generally condemn suicide bombing, citing Quranic prohibitions on taking innocent lives. But those with the radical perspective accept it, justifying it as a means of resistance. This study highlights the complexities of Islamic jurisprudence on suicide bombing. While divergent opinions exist on the issue, the most preponderant opinion is the outright rejection of suicide bombing in Islamic law. This research emphasizes the need for proper understanding of the texts and context in addressing very sensitive issues like suicide bombing which is associated with extremism.

Abstract

A woman whether she is married or unmarried seems to be the lesser child of God because the domestic violence (which is attributed usually to the in-laws) starts even before she comes into the world as at times a foetus that carries a female is either aborted or if the girl-child is born, she is killed. It’s a proven fact even in the 21st century that in many families, girls are attended to after the boys have been cared for. Woman is the foundation of a family, gives birth to a new life, nurtures and shapes it, preserves and transmits culture from generation to generation; the irony is that she is subjected to domestic violence irrespective of her age, race, and caste, social, economic and political status. Her vulnerability in various forms is the common phenomenon in the Indian society. Her silent sufferings are making her an easy prey to the male domination which is supported by the patriarchal society that we live in. Almost every home in India must be suffering from some kind of domestic violence where women either as a daughter, daughter in law or as a wife are abused physically, mentally, verbally or even economically. If she speaks up then she is labelled as disobedient and rude. Though theoretically men and women have equal rights but still a woman is discriminated and this at times makes her unable to understand her own right and freedoms. Thus domestic violence not only hampers women but it’s also a hindrance to a country’s growth. This paper deals with the menace of domestic violence and how the different religions deal with this problem as at the end it’s not just about the laws but also about the morals.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between the concept of Kepler's Law in physics with Islamic teachings and the Qur'an as the main reference source used as study material that conveys the views of the Islamic religion. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method, this study analyzes several excerpts of verses in the letters in the Qur'an, including: Q.S. Fushshilat: 33, Q.S. Ar-Rahman: 5, Q.S. Yasin: 40 and Q.S. Al-Anbiya: 33. Physics literature as a supporter of in-depth theoretical studies. Allah states that the sun and moon, which are among the largest celestial bodies, move in their respective orbits very regularly. This movement causes changes in the seasons. By paying attention to these changes, humans can regulate various aspects of life, such as agriculture, trade, and education, and use these movements to calculate prayer times, calendars, eclipses, and so on. Kepler's Law explains the movement of planets in elliptical orbits around the sun, with Kepler's First Law stating that each planet moves in an elliptical path with the sun at one of its focuses. Kepler's second law states that an imaginary line connecting the sun and a planet sweeps out equal areas in equal times. The primary data source is the Qur'an, especially the verses, which are studied together with physics literature. The results of the study indicate that interpreting Kepler's laws in the context of the verses of the Qur'an provides a deeper understanding of the relationship between science and faith. The order of the universe described by Kepler's laws can be seen as a manifestation of the greatness and power of Allah.

Abstract

This paper looks at how religious affiliations and beliefs affect how people vote and which parties they support in the 2024 general elections in Ghana. It focuses on the important role that religious groups play in determining electoral results. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data. It includes surveys that measure voter preferences, interviews with well-known religious leaders, and a thorough analysis of election results based on religious demographics. The outcomes show that many voters base their choices on their religious beliefs, which greatly influences their party support and voting rates. Importantly, religious leaders are found to be major influencers, rallying backing for certain candidates and parties. This highlights the need for political groups to work with religious organizations in a strategic manner. These findings are especially relevant in the context of healthcare, as voter choices driven by religious beliefs can shape health policy goals and funding decisions. By shedding light on the connection between religion and election politics, this study not only deepens understanding of electoral behaviours in Ghana but also encourages a review of health policy frameworks that may be influenced by these political connections. Therefore, the research could improve political strategies, guiding healthcare advocates and policymakers on how important religious beliefs are in forming public opinion and health-related political goals.
