Abstract

ABSTRACT The impact of the issue of the industry 4.0 phenomenon with the emergence of digital media and technological developments is the Quora application which can be used to develop literacy which emphasizes experience of various subjects based on data, facts and practical knowledge. This research was conducted to find out how the use of the Quora application as digital media influences the development of reading and writing literacy for generation z. This research uses the technology acceptance model theory put forward by Davis and the theory of the national literacy movement put forward by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This research uses a positivism paradigm and a quantitative approach by conducting observations, distributing questionnaires and documentation. The sample used in this research was 100 respondents who were Generation Z users of the Quora application using a purposive sampling technique, namely where the researcher chose the sample based on research knowledge about the sample to be selected. Data was obtained through distributing questionnaires to respondents. Data validity testing was carried out by conducting validity and reliability tests on 30 statement items with valid and reliable results. Meanwhile, power analysis techniques are carried out using normality tests, linearity tests, correlation tests and hypothesis tests. This research uses a simple linear regression analysis technique to test the research hypothesis by conducting a coefficient of determination test and a t test. The results of the R square calculation are 0.529, which shows that there is a correlation between the use of the Quora application as digital media and the development of reading and writing literacy for generation Z, which is 0.471, influenced by other variables outside the research. The research results show that there is a good influence of using the Quora application as digital media in developing reading and writing literacy for generation Z.

Abstract

Fenomena transformasi teknologi kecerdasan buatan menyebabkan banjir informasi dengan jumlah skala yang sangat besar sehingga pentingnya menerapkan kemampuan literasi informasi. Literasi informasi dapat membantu dalam memilah, mengidentifikasi, dan mengevaluasi informasi agar informasi yang didapatkan relevan, utamanya pada ranah perguruan tinggi mahasiswa di dorong bijak dalam memilah informasi dari sumber-sumber yang terpercaya khususnya mahasiswa Jurnalistik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi informasi dengan menggunakan The Seven Pillars of Information Literacy pada Mahasiswa Jurnalistik Universitas Islam Nusantara dalam penulisan berita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh dari wawancara dan studi dokumentasi dengan analisis reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian mahasiswa Juranlistik Universitas Islam Nusantara mampu menganalisa penulisan berita dengan kemampuan literasi informasi yang dimiliki, namun terdapat beberapa aspek yang perlu untuk ditingkatkan salah satunya adalah manajemen informasi, memperluas pengetahuan terkait elemen visual sebuah berita dan melakukan kolaborasi dengan praktisi berita.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the strategies of the Aceh Tenggara Regency Library Service in increasing reading interest among the community, particularly among the youth, using a qualitative method. The study involves in-depth interviews with the head librarian and library staff. The findings indicate that the main strategies implemented include diversification of reading materials, intensive literacy campaigns, and the utilization of digital technology through the 'Perpus Agara' application. Diversification of reading materials is achieved by enriching the collection of books and digital materials that are relevant and appealing to various age groups and interests. Literacy campaigns are conducted through various activities such as workshops, book clubs, and outreach to schools. Meanwhile, the 'Perpus Agara' application facilitates digital access to library materials and has been downloaded by over 1,000 users. Although these strategies show an increase in reading interest, several challenges remain, including budget constraints, a lack of skilled human resources, and difficulties in reaching remote communities. Additionally, low literacy levels among parents and a lack of support from schools also pose obstacles. To address these challenges, it is recommended that the Library Service enhance collaboration with various parties, including local government, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations, to secure additional support in the form of funding and expertise. Furthermore, ongoing training for library staff and the development of more innovative literacy programs tailored to local needs are necessary. Optimizing the use of technology and social media can also be an effective tool in increasing reading interest and disseminating information about library programs. Abstract

This article discusses the contribution of librarian smiles in increasing user visits to the UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Bengkulu. The method used is a literature study. The material obtained through this literature study is collected, reviewed and then analyzed. Based on the results of studies that have been carried out, it was found that a librarian's smile can increase user visits. Judging from the data on visits from January 2023 to November 2024 as follows: visitors in January 2024 increased (1.4%), February 2024 there was an increase (3.6%), March 2024 increased (3.9%), April 2024 increased (3.6%), May 2024 there was an increase (3.6%), June 2024 there was an increase (8.6%), July 2024 increased (1.5), August increased (0.7%), September 2024 increased (0.5%), October 2024 there was an increase (0.5%), in November there was an increase (1.7%). Meanwhile, in December 2024 there were no visitors, because we conducted research at the end of November 2024. Abstract

Research regarding comparisons of facilities, infrastructure, spatial planning and accessibility is also important as evaluation and reference material for improving library services in the future. Library facilities and infrastructure are the main aspects that determine the comfort and completeness of the services that can be provided to visitors. First, there are significant differences between the facilities and infrastructure available in the two library objects. The Bandung City Library has more facilities such as multimedia rooms and meeting halls, while the West Java Library focuses more on book collections and reading rooms. This difference certainly affects the activities that can be carried out in the library. Second, in terms of spatial layout, the two library objects have different designs. The Bandung City Library has a modern and open design with lots of windows and natural lighting, while the West Java Library still has traditional elements with the use of thick walls and artificial lighting. This also affects visitor comfort and the learning atmosphere in the library. Third, accessibility is also an important factor in choosing a library. The Bandung City Library is more easily accessible because it is located in the city center and can be reached by public transportation, while the West Java Library is located in a suburban area. This can influence the number of visitors and community participation in library activities. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. The qualitative research method is a research method used to examine the natural state of objects, where the researcher is the main tool, data collection techniques are carried out through cross-examination, data analysis is inductive and the results of qualitative research emphasize significance rather than generalization.

Abstract

The phenomenon of society 5.0 causes a flood of information on a very large scale, making it important to apply information literacy skills. Information literacy can help in sorting, identifying and evaluating information so that the information obtained is relevant, especially in the tertiary sector, students are encouraged to be wise in sorting information from trusted sources, especially students with a concentration in Journalism in the Communication Science Study Program at Nusantara Islamic University. The aim of this research is to analyze information literacy skills using the seven pillars literacy model in Communication Science Study Program students at Islamic Nusantara University in writing news. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data obtained from interviews and documentation studies with data reduction analysis, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results of students from the Communication Science Study Program at Islamic Nusantara University were able to analyze news writing with their information literacy skills, but there are several aspects that need to be improved, one of which is information management, expanding knowledge related to the visual elements of news and collaborating with news practitioners. Abstract

The rapid development of globalization through print and non-print media showcases a foreign culture that has resulted in a decrease in public awareness of local culture. This often happens in big cities in both developed and developing countries. Without preservation efforts from the government and public awareness, the existence of local culture will decline. The purpose of this research is to describe the role of local library content in efforts to preserve the culture of the Batu City community. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with a single case approach. The theoretical basis used in this research is the function and purpose of the Library according to experts. Informants interviewed included the Library Coordinator, Librarian, and library users of Batu City Library. The data obtained was then analyzed using interactive data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that local content plays an important role in preserving community culture in Batu City Library. Through local content, the library functions as a tool for recording local history and stories, strengthening cultural identity, preserving and developing cultural heritage, and ensuring the continuity of cultural knowledge from one generation to the next. However, the library faces several obstacles, such as a lack of proactivity and collaboration from local publishers, and low public interest in local content. To overcome these obstacles, the library has made various efforts, such as book review activities, storytelling competitions, and local content writing training in English. Through these initiatives, the library is trying to increase public appreciation and awareness of the importance of local content, as well as strengthen local cultural identity in the midst of globalization.

Abstract

Literacy skills are very important, especially in the 21st century. Literacy culture in Indonesia is still considered very low, therefore the government continues to promote literacy-based programs, the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture emphasizes every regional government to cultivate literacy in the community. Regional libraries in this case play a very important role in developing interest in literacy in the community, as is done by the Regional Library of Blitar district, they hold a program called Suara Sastra to increase literacy, this program is a collaboration between literacy and literature. The aim of this research is to find out how literary voice classes can increase people's information literacy and what obstacles occur when implementing this program. This research uses qualitative research methods, data collection is carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The informants in this research were library staff, literary activists and participants who follow literary voices. The results of the research show that the implementation of literary voice classes can increase information literacy because in this event there are many communities who join and discuss together so that information exchange occurs. There are obstacles faced ranging from internal factors, namely inadequate facilities to personal problems between participants which become external problems. It is hoped that the literary voice program in the Blitar district library can be used as an example for other libraries to spread literacy to the community in a unique form so that it can attract people's interest in joining.

Abstract

ABSTRACT In today's digital era, information has become a primary need in daily activities. Weverse is a social media application that is widely used to fulfill the information and communication needs between K-Pop idols and their fans. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Weverse digital application as a medium for fulfilling the information needs of K-Pop fans in Indonesia. The theories used in this research are communication effectiveness from Andre Hardjana, the theory of meeting information needs from Katz, Gurevitch, Hans and new media theory from Pierre Levy. This research uses descriptive quantitative methods with observation, documentation and distributing questionnaires in the form of Google forms to K-Pop fans who actively use Weverse with 100 samples that have been determined using the Simple Random Sampling technique or samples chosen randomly. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed by carrying out validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, linearity tests, correlation tests, F tests, T tests, and coefficient of determination. From this research, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained with the linear regression equation Y = 4.798 + 1.139X. With the calculation results of R Squere 0.818 which shows that there is an influence between variable X and variable Y of 81.8% and the remaining 18.2% is influenced by other factors. And the T test shows that there is a significant influence, which means that the use of the Weverse digital application is significantly effective in fulfilling the information needs of K-Pop fans in Indonesia Keywords: Weverse Application, Information Needs, Fans

Abstract

Abstract The role of college libraries continues to evolve to become more inclusive, aiming to provide equitable access to resources for all students, including those with disabilities. AI offers great potential in this regard, enabling the creation of an "Inclusion Corner" in college libraries. This study discusses the application of AI technology to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in college libraries, using a descriptive qualitative design with a literature review method. The initial step of this research involves collecting secondary data from journal articles, books, reports, and other relevant sources. The results of this review indicate that AI can improve library accessibility through personalized services, sign language translation, and other accessibility support. Integrating AI technology can preserve and digitize library collections, making them more accessible to a broader audience, supporting the goal of building an Inclusion Corner in college libraries to provide equal access to digital information for all students. The British Library and the University of Liverpool Library are examples of successful AI implementation, using AI to organize digital collections and provide personalized reading recommendations. The main challenges in implementing AI include data privacy, staff training, the digital divide, budget constraints, user trust, and technological infrastructure. Integrating AI technology not only enhances accessibility but also personalizes the learning experience for students with disabilities. However, challenges such as the need for ongoing staff training and ensuring ethical AI use were identified. Future research should focus on developing more advanced AI applications and addressing the technical and ethical issues related to their use. With the right strategies and strong policies, college libraries can leverage AI to build effective Inclusion Corners, provide equal access to information, and support diversity and inclusion within the academic community.
