Abstract

The rapid growth of the domestic fragrance industry has intensified market competition and increased the prevalence of more economical functional substitutes. This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of Aermi, a local perfume brand in Aceh, in maintaining its market position. A descriptive qualitative approach using Porter’s Five Forces framework was employed to map the interaction between external industry pressures and the company’s internal strategic responses. The results indicate that the threat of functional substitutes and the intensity of competitive rivalry pose the greatest pressures on Aermi, driven by consumer price sensitivity during fluctuations in purchasing power. On the upstream side, supplier bargaining power represents a structural vulnerability due to high dependence on imported fragrance essences susceptible to macroeconomic risks. In response, Aermi optimizes its bargaining position through product differentiation (extrait de parfum) and a rapid innovation cycle, launching new variants every 1–2 months to respond to trends among young consumers. Initial financial constraints and high customer acquisition costs are mitigated by leveraging the owner’s social capital. This combination of strategies is expected to enhance competitiveness, reduce consumption switching risk, and support the stability and retention of the reseller network across regions.

Abstract

Food waste represents a significant global and national challenge with major economic impacts. While students at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, have a solid understanding of the food system, their actual consumption habits warrant closer investigation. This study explores the factors shaping food waste behavior among these students through the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A quantitative method was employed, involving questionnaires completed by 55 active students. The data analysis utilized the Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) technique. Overall, findings show that attitude does not significantly affect students' food waste behavior, whereas subjective norms and perceived behavioral control do. Notably, perceived behavioral control emerges as the most critical factor in minimizing food wastage among students.

Abstract

This study analyzed environmental factors influencing repeat breeding in dairy cattle in Ngablak District, Magelang Regency. A quantitative survey involved 336 productive cows purposively selected from 462 populations across 15 villages. Primary data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews, while secondary data came from the Livestock Service. Risk factors analyzed included drinking water availability, barn design, water source, temperature, humidity, and barn cleanliness. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square and Odds Ratio (95% CI). The prevalence of repeat breeding was 27.67%. Significant factors were lack of ad libitum water (OR=2.59), absence of water source inside the barn (OR=22.5), high humidity, and poor cleanliness (OR=17.7). Barn design and temperature were not significant. High humidity and poor cleanliness triggered heat stress and postpartum infections, impairing reproduction. Suboptimal husbandry management is the main cause. Improvements to husbandry practices are essential.

Abstract

Rice farmer income is one indicator of farming success that is influenced by various factors, such as land area, capital, and selling price of the harvest. Sarimulyo Village, Cluring District, is an agricultural area with the majority of the population working as rice farmers. This study aims to analyze the effect of land area, capital, and selling price on the income of rice farmers in Sarimulyo Village, Cluring District, both partially and simultaneously. The study used a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The research sample consisted of 83 rice farmers determined using the Slovin formula and selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 27. The results showed that land area had a positive and significant effect on farmer income with a significance value of 0.000 and a regression coefficient of 1.232. Selling price also had a positive and significant effect with a significance value of 0.005 and a regression coefficient of 2.741. Meanwhile, capital did not have a significant effect on farmer income with a significance value of 0.170 and a regression coefficient of -0.176. Simultaneously, land area, capital, and selling price significantly influence rice farmers' income. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.857 indicates that 85.7% of the variation in farmers' income can be explained by these three variables. The novelty of this study lies in the use of dummy variables to analyze land ownership status.

Abstract

Harvested Dry Paddy is a strategic agricultural commodity that plays an important role in increasing farmers' income and maintaining food security in Banyuwangi Regency. Fluctuations in Harvested Dry Paddy prices, influenced by changes in production, harvest seasons, and market conditions, require appropriate forecasting to support decision-making. This study aimed to analyze price trends, identify seasonal patterns, and forecast Harvested Dry Paddy prices in 2026 using the Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) method. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using monthly Harvested Dry Paddy price data from 2020 to 2025 obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Banyuwangi Regency. The analysis followed the Box–Jenkins procedure, including stationarity testing, model identification, parameter estimation, diagnostic checking, model selection, and forecasting. The results showed that Harvested Dry Paddy prices fluctuated during the observation period with an increasing trend and exhibited a seasonal pattern at lag 12. The initial data were non-stationary, as indicated by an Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) probability value of 0.1311; therefore, differencing was performed until stationarity was achieved. The best forecasting model was SARIMA (2,1,1)(0,1,1)12. The forecasting results indicated that Harvested Dry Paddy prices in 2026 are expected to range from IDR 7,137.47/kg to IDR 9,209.91/kg, with a gradual upward trend despite continuing fluctuations.

Abstract

Butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea) is an edible flower widely used as a natural food coloring. Its high antioxidant content makes it a potential functional beverage ingredient. However, the drink tends to be bland, requiring sweetener addition to enhance consumer acceptability. This study aims to analyze the effect of various sweeteners on the physicochemical and sensory properties of butterfly pea flower drinks. Treatments included stevia sugar, palm sugar, honey, liquid fructose, white rock sugar, and yellow rock sugar. A completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 3 replications was employed. Results showed the highest viscosity (1.53 cP) in stevia sugar, the highest reducing sugar content (5.25%) in honey, and purplish color (score 2) in stevia, fructose, and white rock sugar treatments. Taste and aroma were moderately perceptible, except in the palm sugar treatment.
