Abstract

Various approaches are taken to examine how poverty grows and develops, accompanied by the search for solutions and appropriate strategies to overcome it. Poverty in a spatial perspective can provide a picture of how the condition of the region where people live can be a cause and effect of the existence of poverty. This research was conducted in Central Java Province with the unit of analysis at the district/city level at three points, namely 2012, 2017, and 2022. The analysis used is the Moran Index and Local Indicator of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA). The results found that poverty in Central Java Province based on the Moran Index analysis, the value of I in 2012, 2017, and 2022 was 0.258, 0.303, and 0.229, respectively. The Index value at the three points of the year is positive, so it is concluded that the relationship forms a clustered pattern even though the strength of the relationship is quite weak. Then the results at three points of the year show similarities, namely that six districts are poverty hotspots in Central Java based on data on the percentage of poor people. These six regencies include Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Kebumen, and Purworejo. This means that poverty in all of these areas is high, and so is the surrounding areas.

The method used in this research is qualitative literature, by analyzing various literatures that include theories of matrilineality, gender, and social structure in Minangkabau society. This research reveals the tension between traditional values that support the central role of women and patriarchal challenges that still exist in various aspects of social life. The results are expected to provide insights into how Minangkabau women navigate their roles amidst social change and modernization that affect their cultural order.

Abstract

This study explores the role of the traditional practice known as Lubuk Larangan in Jambi, Indonesia, as a community-based strategy for sustaining aquatic biodiversity. The research aims to understand how this local wisdom contributes to ecological conservation while supporting social and economic sustainability. A qualitative methodology was employed, involving in-depth interviews with local community leaders, participant observation, and document analysis of local regulations and customary laws. The findings reveal that Lubuk Larangan serves as a powerful conservation tool by establishing designated areas in rivers where fishing is prohibited for a specific period. This practice not only promotes the recovery of fish populations but also fosters collective community engagement in managing natural resources. The periodic lifting of restrictions allows for communal fishing events, ensuring equitable resource distribution and strengthening social cohesion. Furthermore, the study highlights the alignment of Lubuk Larangan with global sustainability goals, particularly in achieving targets related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management. This research underscores the importance of integrating traditional ecological knowledge into modern sustainability frameworks, emphasizing that local wisdom can provide innovative solutions to global environmental challenges.
