Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop "K-Quiz," an Android-based application designed as an effective instructional media to improve the English listening skills of tenth-grade Culinary Art students at SMK Negeri 3 Blitar. This study addresses the specific challenges in vocational education, particularly the lack of interactive media that integrates culinary-themed descriptive texts with mobile technology. The methodology employed is Research and Development (R&D), following the systematic ADDIE model which consists of five integrated phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. In the analysis phase, pedagogical observations and interviews revealed that students struggled with auditory comprehension due to the use of conventional, non-vocational learning materials. During the development phase, the "K-Quiz" application was constructed using an Android platform and underwent rigorous validation. The results of the material expert validation reached 86.6%, while the media expert validation achieved a score of 88.5%, placing the product in the "Highly Valid" category. In the implementation phase, a perception test conducted with tenth-grade culinary students yielded an average score of 92%, indicating that the application is highly practical and engaging for classroom use. The study concludes that the K-Quiz application effectively bridges the gap between general English theory and professional vocational requirements. It provides a flexible learning environment that enhances students' motivation and mastery of descriptive oral information in a culinary context.

Abstract

Madrasah Aliyah Takhassus Al-Qur’an Al Falahiyah was established in 2018 to enhance the quality of Islamic education by integrating general academic knowledge with in-depth Qur’anic studies. Under the Al Falahiyah Islamic Boarding School Foundation, the institution is committed to nurturing a Qur’anic generation that is academically accomplished, morally upright, and globally competitive. This study aims to examine the effect of group counseling using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach on improving career decision-making among twelfth-grade students. The research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consists of 30 students selected through purposive sampling, specifically those experiencing uncertainty in making career decisions. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire adapted from the Career Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with SPSS. The results show an increase in the mean career decision-making scores from pretest to posttest. Prerequisite tests confirmed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The paired-samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.018 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. These findings suggest that CBT-based group counseling is effective in enhancing students’ career decision-making by fostering more rational thinking, increasing self-confidence, and strengthening their ability to make realistic and well-informed career choices.

Abstract

This study examines learning theories and their implications in Islamic education, aiming to explore how concepts of modern learning theories can be integrated with Islamic values in the learning process. The learning theories discussed include behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, humanism, and Qur’anic learning theory, which encompasses tadabbur, tafakkur, and ta’lim. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing on books, scholarly journals, and relevant literature related to learning theories and Islamic education. Data were collected through documentation study, while data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques by classifying, interpreting, and drawing conclusions based on the research themes. The findings indicate that each learning theory contributes significantly to Islamic education. Behaviorism plays a role in habit formation through reinforcement and repetition; cognitivism emphasizes critical thinking processes in understanding Islamic teachings; constructivism highlights active, experience-based learning; and humanism focuses on the development of learners’ potential and humanistic aspects. Qur’anic learning theory strengthens the spiritual dimension through tadabbur, tafakkur, and ta’lim, emphasizing a balance between knowledge, faith, and morals. The implications of learning theories in Islamic education suggest the need for learning strategies that are more active, interactive, and learner-centered while integrating Islamic values. Although challenges exist in unifying modern theoretical paradigms with Islamic principles, there are significant opportunities to develop more innovative and relevant learning models in response to contemporary developments.

Abstract

This research explores how the use of gamification apps, particularly Duolingo, can help achieve independent learning habits in kindergarten students in East Java, Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, focusing on understanding how gamification influences the development of learning behaviors in young children. Data were collected through a combination of classroom observations and semi-structured interviews, offering insights into the dynamics between teachers and students. The participants included a group of four- and five-year-old children, alongside their teacher, who were selected using purposive sampling methods. The findings highlight several key factors contributing to the success of gamification apps in fostering independent learning. Motivation plays a significant role, as the interactive and rewarding nature of Duolingo keeps children engaged and eager to participate. Parental involvement also emerges as an important factor, as parents' encouragement and support enhance students' progress. Additionally, the app’s adaptability to different learning paces is crucial, allowing children to learn at their own speed, which accommodates varying levels of comprehension. The results suggest that gamified learning platforms like Duolingo not only support language acquisition but also promote the development of self-directed learning habits, a vital skill for young learners in their educational journey.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the practice of child marriage, which is often legitimized through a literal reading of Islamic texts, particularly the Qur’an and Hadith. Such textual interpretations frequently disregard the Islamic ethical framework that emphasizes justice, dignity, and the protection of children. This study is qualitative in nature, employing library research and utilizing a textual-contextual analysis method. It adopts the mubādalah perspective, a hermeneutic framework that emphasizes reciprocity, equality, and mutual responsibility. This article reinterprets hadiths regarding marriage, specifically the terms syabāb (youth) and al-ba’ah (capacity). The analysis reveals that these terms require readiness, consent, and equal capacity between men and women as dignified subjects. In the context of child marriage, this readiness is clearly not met, as girls face biological, psychological, and social limitations that pose risks of maternal and infant mortality, school dropout, and a cycle of poverty. The research findings affirm that child marriage contradicts the principles of martabah (dignity), ‘adālah (justice), and maṣlaḥah (public interest). The contribution of this study is to offer a reinterpretation of hadith based on humanistic Islam that rejects child marriage, as well as to reaffirm Islam as a source of protection, equality, and respect for human dignity
