Abstract

Education is a national development priority that is a strategic element in promoting the adoption of modern technology and sustainable growth, as reflected in National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) 2025–2045 and the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). However, educational inequality in Papua and West Papua remains a serious challenge in terms of equitable access to quality education. This study aims to evaluate the impact of digital development on educational inequality in these two provinces. Secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS-Statistics) and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) were analyzed using the Spatial Error Model (SEM) to examine the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the Education Gini Coefficient (EGC). The results show that variables such as internet access for people aged 7-18 years, the Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM), Mean Years of School (MYS), and regional education budgets play a significant role in reducing educational inequality. These findings confirm that digital development plays a strategic role in creating an inclusive and equitable education system. This research is expected to serve as a basis for formulating adaptive technology-based education policies to overcome educational inequality in Papua Island.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to strengthen literacy education through mental health screening using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ) and the application of writing therapy as a means of expressive literacy. Thirty-two students participated in this activity. The SRQ screening results indicated that most students fell into the low category for indications of psychological disorders, while others fell into the moderate and high categories. These findings formed the basis for implementing writing therapy, which aimed to improve writing skills and help participants express their thoughts and feelings in writing. The evaluation of the activity showed a very positive response, with the majority of participants stating that they understood the material, were able to participate effectively in the activities, and felt a positive impact on themselves. Therefore, this This Community Service activity can be concluded as an effective effort to strengthen literacy education integrated with a psychosocial support approach for students.

Abstract

The integration of digital technology in higher education has encouraged innovative approaches to English language teaching, particularly through gamification and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL). This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of gamification-based English learning integrated with mobile-assisted tools in improving university students’ English learning achievement and motivation. Mixed-methods quasi-experimental design employing a non-equivalent control group pre-test–post-test model was adopted. The participants were 60 undergraduate students enrolled in a compulsory English course, divided into an experimental group receiving gamified mobile instruction and a control group receiving conventional teacher-centered instruction. Quantitative data were collected using achievement tests and a Likert-scale motivation questionnaire, while qualitative data were obtained through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews to explore students’ learning experiences. Statistical analysis showed that the experimental group obtained significantly higher post-test scores and motivation levels than the control group (p < .05). Qualitative findings further indicated that students perceived the gamified mobile activities as more interactive, engaging, and flexible, which encouraged active participation, collaboration, and autonomous practice beyond the classroom. Overall, the integration of gamification and mobile technology enhanced both cognitive outcomes and affective engagement. These results suggest that gamified mobile learning can serve as an effective and practical alternative instructional strategy for improving English language learning in higher education settings. Therefore, the approach offers valuable pedagogical implications for lecturers seeking to increase participation, motivation, and measurable performance while maintaining flexibility and accessibility for diverse learners across varied instructional contexts and technological infrastructures within contemporary university English education environments today widely globally.

Abstract

As the issue of environmental degradation grows, significant questions about how early childhood education may effectively and sustainably support the formation of environmentally sensitive character emerge. Despite the widespread discussion of the importance of environmental education from a young age, PAUD's teaching methods are still primarily verbalistic and do not provide children with real-world experiences. With the existence of Prasiaga Scout activities, formal and non-formal education becomes easier in carrying out environment-based learning, because the environment can be accessed by children in a real and collaborative way. The research method we use is descriptive qualitative by considering the objectives of constructivist learning in this research. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation of Prasiaga Scout activities at RA Diponegoro, the data was reduced, presented, and conclusions were drawn. The results of the study show that via direct interaction with nature, Pramuka Prasiaga activities can raise environmental consciousness, cultivate compassionate attitudes, and develop tangible pro-environmental actions in young children. According to the study's findings, Pramuka Prasiaga is a useful and successful educational tool for helping young children form environmentally sensitive personalities.

Abstract

The study explores the cultural resilience model of Turonggo Yakso as an instrument for strengthening students’ independence and cultural literacy in elementary education. The research aims to verify the validity and reliability of three latent constructs cultural resilience, independence, and cultural literacy and to analyze the structural relationships among them. A quantitative confirmatory design was implemented through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. Data were obtained from 330 elementary school students in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, who participated in learning activities integrated with local art traditions. The analysis employed a five-point Likert scale questionnaire processed with SmartPLS 4.0. Results demonstrated that all constructs met the reliability and validity criteria, indicating strong internal consistency. Cultural resilience exerted a substantial positive influence on both cultural literacy and independence, suggesting that engagement in local culture enhances students’ autonomy and appreciation of cultural values. The coefficient of determination revealed that cultural resilience and cultural literacy explained a considerable proportion of the variance in students’ independence. The overall model fulfilled the acceptable fit criteria, confirming its empirical robustness. Findings indicate that embedding local cultural practices through Turonggo Yakso can promote independent learning and strengthen cultural literacy. The proposed model contributes to the development of culturally responsive pedagogy aligned with the Merdeka Belajar policy and supports the realization of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila.

Abstract

Learning assessment is a crucial component in determining the success of the educational process. However, assessment practices in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the elementary school level often focus solely on cognitive aspects, failing to fully capture students’ comprehensive abilities. This situation calls for the implementation of a more comprehensive assessment model, such as authentic assessment as recommended in the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum. This study aims to analyze the implementation of authentic assessment and its impact on improving student learning outcomes in the PAI subject at SDN Trasak 2. This is a field research study using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers and students, as well as a review of relevant documentation and literature to obtain an overview of the implementation of authentic assessment in the learning process. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of authentic assessment is capable of improving student learning outcomes more comprehensively, not only in the cognitive aspect but also in the affective and psychomotor dimensions. Furthermore, the implementation of authentic assessment encourages students’ active engagement in the learning process, thereby creating a more meaningful learning experience and enhancing learning motivation. Teachers also gain deeper assessment insights into students’ skill development, enabling them to provide more precise feedback. This study concludes that authentic assessment is an effective evaluation approach in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Education (PAI) at the elementary school level. The implications of this research highlight the importance of strengthening teachers’ competencies in designing and implementing authentic assessment to improve the quality of learning and student learning outcomes.
