Abstract

Background: Depression among hypertension patients leads to low medication adherence and increases morbidity and suicidal ideation. Purpose: To analyze the determinants of depression among hypertension patients. Method: A secondary data analysis study used data from the Indonesian Health Survey in 2023 with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study was hypertensive patients aged 15 years and above in Indonesia. Data analysis was performed using SPSS using the Complex Sample Chi-Square and Logistic Regression statistical tests. Results: The prevalence of depression in hypertension patients was 2.9% (95% CI: 2.6% - 3.3%). Statistically significant variables were age 15-44 years [Adj. POR = 1.93 (95% CI: 1.34 - 2.78)], female [Adj. POR = 1.66 (95% CI: 1.10 - 2.50)], and having a chronic disease [Adj. POR = 2.36 (95% CI: 1.92 – 2.90)], smoking daily [Adj. POR = 2.83 (95% CI: 1.90 – 4.24)], not working [Adj. POR = 1.49 (95% CI: 1.17 – 1.90)], primary education [Adj. POR = 2.30 (95% CI: 1.44 – 3.67)], and not having a partner [Adj. POR = 1.55 (95% CI: 1.24 – 1.93)]. Conclusion: Daily smoking is a dominant factor in the occurrence of depression among people with hypertension. Suggested to people with hypertension pay more attention to their mental health. Please immediately check health screening and quit smoking to prevent depression. Abstract

Background: Early adulthood is often characterized by various social demands, including expectations related to romantic relationships. Individuals who have never dated frequently experience social pressure from their peer environment, which may potentially affect their psychological well-being. Purpose: To examine the effect of conformity on psychological well-being among early adults who have never been in a romantic relationship. Method: A quantitative causal (explanatory) research design to examine the effect of conformity on psychological well-being among early adults who had never been involved in a romantic relationship. The research participants consisted of 98 active students at Universitas Negeri Manado who had never been in a romantic relationship, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a conformity scale and a psychological well-being scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with a bootstrapping technique. Results: A significant negative effect of conformity on psychological well-being (p = 0.000; R² = 0.291). This finding suggests that higher levels of conformity are associated with lower levels of psychological well-being. Conformity accounted for 29.1% of the variance in psychological well-being, while the remaining 70.9% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Additional analyses showed that the effect of conformity was stronger among male respondents (34.3%) compared to female respondents (24.9%).These findings indicate that social pressure encouraging excessive conformity can reduce the psychological well-being of early adults who have never been in a romantic relationship. Conclusion: This study is expected to serve as a reference for psychology practitioners and counselors in developing intervention services that focus on strengthening autonomy, self-confidence, and coping skills in dealing with social pressure. Keywords: Conformity; Early Adulthood; Never Been In A Romantic Relationship; Psychological Well-Being.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases in Indonesia, with a prevalence rate of 34.1% in 2023. At Silat Hilir Primary Health Center, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, adherence to antihypertensive medication is only 43%, far below the 70% target established by the Minimum Service Standards (MSS). This gap is exacerbated by geographical barriers in remote rural areas, limited health literacy, and the absence of a structured community-based monitoring system. Purpose: To improve psychological well-being and treatment adherence among patients with hypertension through the implementation of “BAKSO CERDIK”, an innovative community nursing approach based on the Health Promotion Model (HPM). Method: This article presents a community nursing innovation paper using a descriptive-analytic approach. Program development was based on evidence synthesized from a systematic literature review (2014–2024) and an analysis of the local epidemiological situation. The theoretical framework was derived from Pender’s Health Promotion Model (1982, revised 2011), which was operationalized through two complementary pillars: “BAKSO” (Bina-Awasi-Kontrol-Support-Observasi) for medication adherence monitoring and “CERDIK” (Cek-Enyahkan-Rajin-Diet-Istirahat-Kelola) for healthy lifestyle promotion. Results: The program is implemented by trained community health cadres through a monthly cycle integrated into the Integrated Primary Care (ILP) system of the Primary Health Center. Based on evidence from the literature, the program is projected to increase medication adherence from 43% to ≥70%, improve blood pressure control rates from 30% to ≥60%, and reduce treatment dropout rates by up to 50% within the first year of implementation. Conclusion: The intervention is a theoretically grounded, contextually relevant, and systemically integrated community nursing innovation that addresses the gap between high service coverage and low treatment adherence through proactive community-based interventions aligned with the national ILP policy and hypertension MSS targets. Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to insulin resistance. DM management involves more than just pharmacological therapy, but also requires non-pharmacological interventions such as physical activity. Video-assisted DM foot exercises are a simple form of exercise that can be performed independently by DM sufferers. Purpose: To determine the effect of video-assisted DM foot exercises on random blood sugar levels in type 2 DM sufferers. Method: A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach. The sample consisted of 25 type 2 diabetes patients selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention, which included video-based DM foot exercises, was administered according to established procedures. Random blood sugar levels were measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. Results: The average random blood sugar level before the intervention (pre-test) was 223.88 mg/dL and after the intervention (post-test) it decreased to 185.40 mg/dL. The results of the Paired t-test showed a t value = 4.811 with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which indicates a significant effect of DM foot exercise with video media on reducing random blood sugar levels. Conclusion: DM foot exercises using video media have a significant effect on reducing random blood sugar levels in type 2 DM patients. It is recommended that DM foot exercises can be implemented routinely as a non-pharmacological intervention in primary health care.
