Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects thinking, perception, emotion, and behavior. The increasing number of mental disorder cases in the working area, highlights the importance of identifying factors associated with the incidence of schizophrenia. Purpose: To determine the association between family/genetic history, personality type, parenting style, and family disharmony with the incidence of schizophrenia among outpatients. Method: A quantitative approach with a case-control design. The population consisted of all outpatients registered at Kedaton Primary Health Center in 2026. A total of 104 respondents were selected as samples, consisting of case and control groups with a 1:1 ratio. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. Results: Family/genetic history was significantly associated with the incidence of schizophrenia (p=0.001). Meanwhile, personality type (p=0.845), parenting style (p=0.130), and family disharmony (p=0.072) were not significantly associated (p>0.05). Respondents with a family history of schizophrenia had a higher risk of developing schizophrenia compared to those without such history. Conclusion: Genetic factors were significantly associated with schizophrenia in this study. Strengthening early detection and family-based mental health education at the primary health care level is essential to reduce the risk of schizophrenia in the community. Keywords: Family Disharmony; Family History; Parenting Style; Personality Type; Schizophrenia.

Abstract

Background: River water quality is influenced by various pollutants, particularly organic and chemical contaminants resulting from anthropogenic activities. In rural and peri-urban areas, domestic waste is a major contributor to the decline in water quality, which may pose risks to environmental and public health. Purpose: To analyze river water quality based on lead (Pb), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) parameters, and to identify the psychological impacts on communities living along the river. Method: A quantitative descriptive study with an observational approach was conducted using the grab sampling method. Water samples were collected from three points representing upstream, midstream, and downstream sections. Laboratory analyses were performed, and the results were compared with the water quality standards established by Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021. The study was carried out from November to December 2025. Results: BOD values at all sampling points (7 mg/L upstream, 12 mg/L midstream, and 6 mg/L downstream) exceeded the permissible limits, indicating non-compliance with water quality standards. In contrast, COD values ranged from 7 to 8 mg/L across all points and remained within acceptable limits. Pb concentrations ranged from 0.001 to 0.006 mg/L, which were also below the regulatory threshold. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the deterioration of water quality in the Sawangan River is primarily driven by organic pollution rather than chemical or heavy metal contamination. These results highlight the need for improved domestic waste management and continuous monitoring to maintain river water quality. Keywords: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD); Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD); Lead (Pb); Organic Pollution; River Water Quality.

Abstract

Background: Academic stress is a common psychological problem among high school students due to the pressures of studying, exams, and the expectation of high academic achievement. If not managed effectively, academic stress can negatively impact mental health, psychological well-being, and even student achievement. Purpose: To examine the impact of academic stress and the influence of academic stress on the mental health of high school students based on empirical studies in the last decade. Method: A literature review with a narrative approach. This method aimed to identify, examine, and synthesize several previous research findings examining the impact of stress on the mental health of high school students. Results: Academic stress in students is associated with increased anxiety, depression, decreased mental well-being, and decreased academic performance. Students without adaptive coping strategies typically experience higher levels of stress. Conclusion: Academic stress significantly impacts students' mental health and academic achievement. Therefore, support from schools, families, and the community is crucial in helping students develop effective coping strategies for dealing with academic stress. Abstract

Background: Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being related to the reproductive system, its functions, and processes, not merely the absence of disease or disability. Lack of knowledge about reproductive health among adolescents can lead to various problems such as unintended pregnancy, abortion, early marriage, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and HIV/AIDS. Therefore, adequate knowledge and positive attitudes toward reproductive health are essential to prevent these risks, especially among high school students. Purpose: To describe the level of knowledge and attitudes toward reproductive health among adolescents. Method: A quantitative design with an analytic survey approach. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method. The population consisted of 282 students, with a sample of 247 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using Microsoft Excel and the Statistical Programmer for Social Science (SPSS). Results: The majority of respondents had good knowledge, with 214 students (86.6%) categorized as having a high level of knowledge. In terms of attitude, most respondents also demonstrated positive attitudes toward reproductive health, with 162 students (65.6%). Conclusion: Most adolescents have good knowledge and positive attitudes regarding reproductive health. However, continuous education is still needed to maintain and further improve awareness and positive attitudes toward reproductive health.   Keywords: Attitude; Adolescents; High School Students; Knowledge; Reproductive Health.

Abstract

Background: The rapid development of social media has had a significant impact on the lives of adolescents, particularly in emotional aspects. Early and middle adolescence are age groups in a phase of psychological development that is vulnerable to emotional changes due to exposure to digital content. Exposure to a variety of social media content, both positive and negative, has the potential to impact adolescents' emotional stability. Purpose: To examine exposure to mental health content on social media and emotional states among adolescents. Method: A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample size was 82 participants, consisting of 41 junior high school students (early adolescents) and 41 vocational high school students (middle adolescents). The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire to measure the emotional status of participants. Data analysis was conducted using the Dependent T-Test and the Independent T-Test to determine the average difference in emotional status between the two groups. Results: No significant difference between the emotional status of early and middle adolescents in response to exposure to social media content, either in the pre-test (p = 0.671) with a significance value of p>0.05. Conclusion: This indicates that the level of age development does not significantly influence the emotional responses of adolescents in this study. Keywords: Early Adolescence; Emotional Status; Exposure To Social Media Content; Middle Adolescence.

Abstract

Background: Cervical cancer is a significant global health problem, with most cases caused by infection with oncogenic types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). In Indonesia, HPV immunization coverage remains suboptimal. Female university students, as agents of change, are expected to play an active role in prevention through their knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding HPV immunization. Purpose: To describe the behavior of female students toward HPV immunization, including knowledge, attitudes, and practices. Method: A quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all active female students from the 2021–2025 cohorts, totaling 990 individuals. A sample of 102 respondents was determined using the Lem show formula and selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using an online questionnaire (Google Form) that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted univariately to describe the frequency distribution of each variable. Results: The results showed that most respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (38.2%), followed by low (32.4%) and good (29.4%) levels. Attitudes toward HPV immunization were overwhelmingly positive (98.0%), with only 2.0% showing negative attitudes. However, none of the respondents (0%) had received the HPV vaccine, although the majority (77.5%) expressed willingness to be vaccinated if it were available. Conclusion: The knowledge of female students is generally moderate, and their attitudes toward HPV immunization are highly positive; however, this is not reflected in actual vaccination behavior. There is a gap between intention and practice, indicating the need for more effective interventions to improve access and promote HPV vaccination uptake. Abstract

Background: Healthcare service quality is a critical determinant of patient satisfaction, particularly at primary healthcare facilities such as community health centers. Patient satisfaction serves both as an indicator of service success and a reflection of care quality. Purpose: To analysed the relationship between healthcare service quality and patient satisfaction at community health centers. Method: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using total sampling (n = 50 outpatients). Data were collected via a structured SERVQUAL-based questionnaire (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy) and a patient satisfaction scale. Bivariate analysis employed the Chi-Square test. Results: A total of 80.0% of respondents rated service quality as good to very good, with empathy (42.0% very good) and assurance (38.0% very good) as the highest-rated dimensions. Overall patient satisfaction reached 82.0% (satisfied to very satisfied). Chi-Square analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between service quality and patient satisfaction (p = 0.000). Conclusion: Higher healthcare service quality was significantly associated with greater patient satisfaction. Continuous improvement, particularly in physical facilities and service responsiveness, is recommended. Keywords: Healthcare Service Quality; Patient Satisfaction; Primary Healthcare.
