Abstract

Background: Mental disorders are health problems that affect not only the patient, but also the family as a caregiver in long-term care. Caregivers have an important role in ensuring therapy adherence and supporting the patient's recovery. The behavior of caregivers in caring for people with mental disorders can be influenced by psychoeducation and family support. Purpose: To examine the role of psychoeducation in shaping caregiver behavior in the families of people with mental disorders. Method: This study uses a conceptual descriptive approach by reviewing various scientific literature from international and national journals relevant to psychoeducation, caregiver, and treatment of mental disorders. Results: The results of the study show that psychoeducation plays a role in increasing caregiver knowledge, forming a more adaptive perception, and influencing caregivers' attitudes in caring for patients. These changes have an impact on the formation of more effective care behaviors. Family support also plays a role as a reinforcing factor in improving caregiver behavior. Conclusion: Psychoeducation has an important role in shaping caregiver behavior through improving knowledge, perception, and attitudes. Family support strengthens the effectiveness of psychoeducation in the treatment of people with mental disorders.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period characterized by physical, psychological, and social changes that can increase the risk of anxiety. Uncontrolled anxiety can affect mental health, learning concentration, and adolescents' ability to adapt. Guided imagery and lavender aromatherapy are non-pharmacological therapies that can provide a relaxing effect, thus helping to reduce anxiety levels. Purpose: To determine the effect of the combination of guided imagery and lavender aromatherapy on the anxiety levels of twelfth-grade students. Method: A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of 36 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were assessed using a teenage anxiety questionnaire Data were analysed using univariate and bivariate analysis with a paired t-test. Results: Based on the research results, the average anxiety level before the intervention was 30.83 ± 2.823 and decreased to 17.25 ± 3.467 after the intervention. The Paired T-Test results showed a p-value < 0.001, indicating that there is an effect of the combination of guided imagery and lavender aromatherapy on anxiety levels in adolescents. Conclusion: The combination of guided imagery and lavender aromatherapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels in twelfth-grade students. Keywords: Adolescents; Anxiety; Guided Imagery; Lavender Aromatherapy.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety is an emotional condition resulting from anticipation of an unclear threat, which can affect the learning process and adolescent development if not properly managed. Deep breathing relaxation and expressive writing therapy are complementary therapies that can help reduce stress responses and assist individuals in managing emotions and thoughts related to anxiety. Purpose: To find out the effect of the combination of deep breathing relaxation and expressive writing therapy on anxiety in students. Method: This research design uses a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research sample was taken using a nonprobability sampling technique, namely accidental sampling, with a total of 20 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire on the level of adolescent anxiety, which had been adapted and modified by Ways Alqorny in 2023. Results: Based on the results of the Paired T Test on the samples, a p-value of 0.001 was obtained, which is less than the significance value (α = 0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of the combination of deep breathing relaxation and expressive writing therapy on reducing anxiety in students. Keywords: Adolescents; Anxiety; Deep Breathing Relaxation; Expressive Writing Therapy.

Abstract

Background: Mental disorders remain a health problem with a high relapse rate in People with Mental Disorders (PWMD), which is influenced by the low level of family mental health knowledge in recognizing signs and symptoms and efforts to prevent relapse. Purpose: To examine the effectiveness of animated video-based group psychoeducation in improving family mental health literacy for relapse prevention among individuals with SMI in the working area Method: A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest - posttest design was employed. The study involved 40 family members of individuals with SMI. Data were collected using the Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) before and after the intervention. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Paired Samples t-test.   Results: The analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.001), indicating that the intervention had a significant effect on improving family mental health literacy. Conclusion: Animated video-based group psychoeducation is effective in enhancing family mental health literacy for relapse prevention among individuals with SMI. Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a significant period that brings many changes, both physically and emotionally, as well as psychosocially. This condition often leads to excessive stress in pregnant women. If not addressed, it can impact the health of both the mother and the fetus. One method considered effective for managing stress is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Purpose: To determine the effect of MBSR intervention on stress levels in pregnant women. Method: A Quasi-Experiment with a One-Group Pre- and Post-Test design. The sampling technique used total sampling with 26 respondents. The instrument used to measure stress levels was the DASS questionnaire. Results: Data analysis showed that the average stress level before MBSR intervention was 19.77, which decreased to 16.15 after the intervention, with a standard deviation of 0.710 for pre-test and 1.953 for post-test. Statistical test results showed a P-Value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference in stress levels before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The MBSR intervention significantly affects the reduction of stress levels in pregnant women, as evidenced by the decrease in the average stress scores before and after the intervention.
