Abstract

This study observes the pivotal role of Strategic Planning Efforts (SPEs) and their influence on enhancing teaching and learning products, as well as exploring the essential role of Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) in boosting the quality and level of education and learning within HEIs. The main outcomes of the FDPs that serve as pillars of teaching and learning and that are adopted in this paper as basic criteria for the proposed conceptual framework are: Pedagogical Contents Knowledge (PCK), Curriculum Development and Course Design (CDCD), Instructional Skills (ISs), Enhanced Assessment and Feedback Practices (EAFP), and Professional Growth and Reflection (PGR). The surveys were used as a research method, and the questionnaire was sent to selected experts in the field of academic development programs, faculty, and administrators in HEIs in Iraq, and analysed using SPSS software. The results revealed a strong positive impact of Strategic Planning in activating Academic Development Programs, and a strong impact of Academic Development Programs on strengthening the main pillars of teaching and learning stated in the study.

Abstract

This study set out to investigate online speaking anxiety factors among institute L2 learners during the Covid-19 pandemic. It also investigated whether there is any significant difference between females and males’ anxiety or not. The participants comprised 50 male and female L2 learners in Shiraz language institutes, aged 14 to 27, with varying English proficiency levels selected through non- probability sampling of the convenience type. Mc Croskey questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted by the researcher using SPSS software (version 24) along with the assessment of data normality. Based on the results of the research, factors such as lack of readiness, personality, fear of speaking in class, fear of negative evaluation, and getting tense and nervous cause speaking anxiety among institute L2 learners during the Covid-19 pandemic. Notably, a significant gender difference was observed only in the components "Fear of negative evaluation" and" Lack of readiness". Understanding online speaking anxiety factors is crucial for both instructors, L2 learners and syllabus designers, as emphasized in this study.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) technology has developed rapidly and become one of the significant innovations in the world of modern education. AR offers an interactive learning experience that combines digital elements, such as 3D objects and animations, into the real world, thereby increasing student engagement and motivation. This study aims to explore the potential use of AR as an alternative digital learning media in various subjects and levels of education. This study shows that AR can help students understand abstract concepts, visualize learning materials in a more concrete way, and support project-based learning. In addition, AR also allows flexible and accessible learning, especially through mobile devices that are widely used by students. However, the implementation of AR in education still faces challenges, such as limited technological infrastructure, lack of teacher competence, high development costs, and difficulties in measuring learning effectiveness. To overcome these challenges, support is needed from various parties, including the government, educational institutions, and technology developers. With effective collaboration, AR has the potential to become an innovative and effective learning media in preparing students to face challenges in the digital era.
