Abstract

This paper was an investigation on the effectiveness of external attentional focus and guided imagery in improving the leg press strength and soccer-specific measures of an attacker on a simulated attacking player where Modeling 20 samples consisted of elite youth forwards/wingers who were aged 18-25 years and exposed to counterbalanced high versus low-focus tests in standard conditions high focus with external cues (drive through target) now coupled with 120-second kinesthetic imagery or low focus with no visualization. Key outcome measures were leg press strength (kg), power output (W), accuracy in the shot (percentage), sprint speed (km/h) and dribble success (percentage). The data was simulated with Monte Carlo (Python/NumPy) calibrated based on attentional focus meta-analyses (ES=0.58) producing a normally distributed measure: strength High M=85kg vs. Low M=75kg; power 450W vs. 400W. Significant improvements were established by paired t-tests by metrics (strength t=3.342, p=0.0034, d=1.18; power t=3.012, p=0.0072; accuracy t=4.244, p=0.0004; dribble t=6.465, p<0.0001). Mean improvement was 14.92% ( SD=4.36) or 8-50kg strength or 40-50W power gains. They were consistent in case of subgroup analysis (samples 1-10, 11-20) (all p<0.05). Focus variance was isolated by negative high-low correlations (-0.155 to -0.221). Results indicate that mental concentration results in medium-high impacts on attacking skills, equivalent to 0.25-0.5 goals/game possibilities. External attention maximizes motor programming of explosive actions supporting the constrained action hypothesis proposed by Wulf. Simulation scope limitations Limitations Future research needs to be physiologically validated (e.g., EMG, HRV). Findings recommend the consideration of short-term imagery fusion in soccer training, strength development without the conditioning aspect.

Abstract

This research sought to assess how effective a prehab program of exercise would be at decreasing the incidence/s of sports-related injury and improving the physical and functional efficiency of swimmers from the Salah Al-Din Sports Club as they attempt to deal with the repeated biomechanical loads that swimming places on their bodies, most importantly on their shoulder joint(s). An experimental methodology was utilized that included a one-group design using purposive sampling of six (6) youth swimmers (16-20 years) to participate in a preventive training program over eight (8) weeks with twenty-four (24) training sessions each involving between sixty (60%) percent and eighty (80%) percent intensity based on their maximum effort. The program consisted of specialized strength exercises using weights, elastic resistance bands, and stretching exercises to develop the strength of stabilizing muscles and to improve the dynamic flexibility of the ligaments and tendons. The statistical analysis showed a significant change between the two assessments of the explosive power of arms. Explosive power of arms measured at 8.34 m increased to 10.05 m. There was a significant improvement for the strength endurance of the (shoulder muscles) shoulder with a statistical significant (0.009) increase. The increase in the speed-strength was minimal again with no statistical significance but confirmed that with physical intervention (hypo, hyper) the subject was able to improve their (hyperbola)(i) the range of motion; (ii) stabilize the humeral head; and ( iii) reduce chronic inflammatory tissue damage to soft tissue due to the chronic cumulative fatigue. It is recommended that each of the described activities be incorporated into the primary components of all training sessions in order to fix movement patterns. This will also help to eliminate harmful compensatory mechanisms and result in effective muscle development that will decrease water resistance and provide sustained athletic performance in the long-term.

Abstract

The current research aims to investigate the relationship between attention flexibility and decision-making using the Mental Resilience and Performance (HRP) system among female volleyball players of the Al-Qadisiyah University team. The study is based on the premise that performance in team sports relies not only on physical and technical aspects but is significantly linked to the efficiency of cognitive processes that regulate motor behavior under competitive conditions. The researcher employed a descriptive correlational approach, utilizing the HRP system tests as a standardized tool on a sample consisting of all (6) university team players. Statistical results revealed variations in attention flexibility levels (Mean: 103.7, SD: 25.1) compared to decision-making scores (Mean: 100.7, SD: 6). The findings demonstrated a strong positive correlation (0.83) at a significance level of (0.05), indicating that higher levels of attention flexibility are directly associated with improved decision-making quality during competitive situations. These results confirm that attention flexibility is a pivotal cognitive factor influencing the efficiency of tactical and technical performance. Consequently, the study recommends integrating specialized training to develop this cognitive aspect within training programs, alongside adopting scientific assessment tools to monitor mental development
