Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the power of a school university partnership mediated by lesson study (SUPER-LS) in improving pre-service mathematics teachers’ subject matter knowledge (SMK). This study implemented the SUPER-LS program with 10 pre-services teachers (PSTs), 10 in-service teachers (ISTs) and knowledgeable others to accomplish this objective. The study was executed in two phases: one at the school and the other at the university. Throughout the program, they designed a mathematics curriculum based on the concepts of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), facilitated an open class, and engaged in post-lesson discussions throughout two cycles of lesson study. Data were collected through observations of lesson study activities and objects, and analyzed using transcript-based lesson study following MKT framework. The study revealed that the SUPER-LS program can enhance collaboration among PSTs to augment their Subject Matter Knowledge (SMK), with specialized content knowledge (SCK) being predominant. Nonetheless, a follow-up program to guarantee that PSTs have rigorous training is essential.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is one of the learning that is difficult for high school students to understand, both in understanding the material and when solving problems such as in derivative material so that students need high learning motivation and are able to help students become more confident in learning mathematics. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of the mathway application on derivative material in mathematics learning for high school students. The method in this study is quantitative quasi-experimental. The data collection techniques used were pretest and posttest tests, as well as questionnaires. The population in this study were all students of grade XI. However, the samples were: students of grade XI IPA 3 (36 people) as the experimental class and students of grade XI IPA 2 (32 people) as the control class. The results of this study showed the provision of pretest and posttest in the experimental class (XI IPA 3) through treatment with the use of the mathway application so that the difference in pretest and posttest values was obtained to see their learning motivation. The learning motivation of the experimental class was 52.61 and for the control class (XI IPA 2) it was 46.31. Furthermore, for the analysis of the questionnaire given to students in the experimental class, the average value of the questionnaire was 74.25 with a good category. The conclusion of this study is that the use of the Mathway application has an effect on the learning motivation of high school students in the derivative material as evidenced by the difference in the pretest-posttest scores of the experimental class and the control class and the average value of the questionnaire. The suggestion in this study is that there needs to be an adjustment to the use of the Mathway application in mathematics learning and it is necessary to conduct a re-examination of the use of the Mathway application to see students' learning motivation in mathematics learning using different materials and methods.

Abstract

This research aims to improve and improve learning outcomes in the learning process which leads to improving mathematics learning outcomes by implementing the Realistic Mathematics Learning Approach implemented by researchers at SD Negeri 15 Banda Aceh City. The subjects in this research were 35 grade IV students and the object of this research was realistic mathematics learning for the 2024/2025 academic year. From the results of data analysis, it shows that during the pre-test before the action was taken, out of 35 students, there were 2 students who completed the study with an average class score of 35.85 and a classical completion level of 5.71%. Furthermore, in cycle I, after implementing realistic mathematics learning, the average class score increased to 68.28 with a classical completion level of 65.71% and the number of students who completed it was 23 students. And after the actions were taken and the second cycle post test was given, learning results were obtained with the class average value increasing to 77.57 and 31 people completed it with a classical completion level of 88.57%. From the results of observations that have been made, it shows that in the first cycle of analysis the achievement obtained by teachers was 2.76 and students obtained 2.44, which means it was still in the poor category. In cycle II, the data from student and teacher observations improved to good. Where the good activity category increased from 2.76 to 3.70 for students and from 2.44 to 3.44 for teachers. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the application of a realistic mathematics learning model can improve student learning outcomes in the operational material for calculating the addition of fractions in class IV of SD Negeri 15 Banda Aceh City.

Abstract

Anxiety is an ambiguous fear or concern, characterized by an emotional state devoid of a definite target, accompanied by sensations of uncertainty, powerlessness, isolation, and insecurity. This study is to examine the reduction in anxiety levels following progressive muscle relaxation therapy among drug-resistant tuberculosis patients in Ambon City in 2024. The research design utilized a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test methodology. The sample size consisted of 34 individuals who were selected through a comprehensive sampling methodology. We collected data using the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire. The findings indicated that the highest proportion of TBC-RO patients had moderate anxiety (55.9%), which subsequently diminished to mild anxiety (61.8%) following progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Patients with tuberculosis in Romania can considerably reduce their anxiety level by 34.2% following progressive muscle relaxation therapy (p value = 0.001). We observed a substantial reduction in anxiety levels before and after the progressive muscle relaxation therapy intervention, with a p-value of 0.001. Recommendation: Undertake additional research incorporating many factors that may influence the reduction of patient anxiety.

Abstract

This literature review explores the influence of technology use in learning on student learning motivation. In recent years, the rapid advancement of technology has transformed educational landscapes, providing innovative tools and resources that enhance the teaching and learning experience. This review synthesizes findings from various studies to examine how different forms of technology—such as digital learning platforms, interactive applications, and multimedia resources—impact student motivation across diverse educational settings. The research indicates that technology can significantly enhance student engagement by promoting interactivity and personalization in the learning process. Moreover, incorporating technology into the classroom fosters a collaborative learning environment, encouraging peer interaction and support. Additionally, the availability of instant feedback through technological tools helps students identify their strengths and weaknesses, thereby motivating them to improve their performance. However, challenges such as digital divide, varying levels of access to technology, and the risk of distraction are also addressed in this review. The findings suggest that while technology has the potential to positively influence motivation, its effectiveness largely depends on how it is integrated into the curriculum and the overall approach taken by educators. In conclusion, this literature review highlights the significant role that technology plays in enhancing student learning motivation. It calls for educators and policymakers to develop strategic frameworks for implementing technology in educational settings to maximize its benefits while mitigating associated challenges.
