Abstract

The phenomenon of exaggeration in honoring the graves of the righteous remains one of the theological challenges that threaten the purity of Islamic monotheism (tawhid). This study arises from the academic concern that many Muslims, driven by love and reverence for pious figures, may unconsciously fall into practices resembling idol worship. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach and textual analysis of Kitab At-Tawhid by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, as well as classical tafsir and hadith sources, this research explores the historical roots and theological implications of grave veneration. The findings indicate that exaggeration often begins with emotional attachment and ends with acts of worship such as supplication, circumambulation, or building shrines upon graves. This progression mirrors the origins of idolatry in pre-Islamic times, as seen in the story of Lat and Uzza. The study concludes that maintaining moderation in honoring the righteous is essential to protect the essence of tawhid and prevent deviations in worship. Educational efforts and theological awareness are therefore required to restore correct understanding among the Muslim community.

Abstract

The study of meaning relations is a crucial aspect of semantics because it concerns how meaning is formed and understood in a language. Arabic, as a language with a high lexical richness, exhibits complex meaning relations that often create difficulties in understanding, particularly in the phenomena of synonymy, polysemy, antonymy, and hyponymy. This study aims to comprehensively examine these forms of meaning relations in Arabic based on previous research. This study employed a qualitative approach with a literature review method, utilizing national journals and relevant reference books. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using descriptive-qualitative analysis. The results indicate that meaning relations in Arabic form an interconnected system, where polysemy demonstrates context-dependent meaning flexibility, synonymy enriches lexical variation with nuanced differences in meaning, antonymy establishes meaning oppositions that can be absolute or hierarchical, and hyponymy demonstrates a hierarchical structure in the organization of meaning. This study recommends the need for further studies based on a broader Arabic corpus to enable a more in-depth and applicable mapping of meaning relations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze parental parenting patterns and ideological guidance as the foundation of educational agreements for children in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The research employed a qualitative approach with a narrative study design focusing on the author's family experiences. Data were collected through interviews with parents, personal reflections, participatory observations, and relevant literature reviews. The findings reveal that parenting based on role modeling, habituation, and the reinforcement of ideological values plays a significant role in shaping children's character and readiness to undertake pesantren education. The study also found that parents perceive guidance and education as two complementary processes, in which the family serves as a space for nurturing values and character, while the pesantren functions as an institution that continues the educational process in a more systematic manner. Educational agreements within the family are established through value alignment between parents and the pesantren, as well as a long-term commitment to children's education. Furthermore, parents' prioritization of educational investment over material interests reflects a strong educational orientation within the family. This study concludes that consistent parenting and ideological guidance create harmony between family education and pesantren education, thereby supporting children's educational success. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of family education and value-based character education.

Abstract

This article examines the influence of motivation to understand prayer jurisprudence based on Fathul Qarib and self-awareness on female santri’s discipline in congregational prayer. This quantitative ex post facto study was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Al-Barokah Ponorogo during the 2025/2026 academic year. The population consisted of 130 female santri, while 96 respondents were selected through random sampling using Slovin’s formula with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through observation and Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The findings show that motivation to understand prayer jurisprudence statistically accounts for 59.1% of the variance in congregational prayer discipline, whereas self-awareness provides a stronger contribution of 66.7%. Simultaneously, both variables explain 70.6% of the variance. These findings indicate that mature worship discipline emerges from the integration of the cognitive-normative foundation of fiqh and santri’s internal self-regulation. The study theoretically proposes a hybrid-reflective fiqh curriculum framework that combines textual study of Fathul Qarib, contextual application, self-reflection, and self-monitoring to strengthen consistent congregational worship.

Abstract

The ongoing armed conflicts in various parts of the world place religious institutions in a strategic position as agents of peace. The Indonesian Ulema Council (Majelis Ulama Indonesia—MUI), as the highest Islamic fatwa authority in Indonesia, possesses the capacity to serve as both a moral mediator and a global peace communicator. This article examines how MUI can optimize its da'wah communication strategy to build and strengthen anti-war sentiment among the Indonesian Muslim society and the international Islamic community. Utilizing a qualitative approach based on literature studies and policy document analysis, this research explores the theoretical framework of da'wah communication, faith-based conflict resolution theory, and MUI's track record of involvement in global peace issues. The research findings indicate that MUI holds significant potential as a moral diplomacy actor, yet it faces several structural and communicative obstacles that need to be addressed systematically. The proposed strategies include transforming da'wah mediums toward digital platforms, strengthening networks among international religious institutions, and formulating peace narratives rooted in the values of Islam as rahmatan lil 'alamin (a mercy to all creation). This study contributes to the development of contemporary da'wah communication theory and the practice of religious diplomacy within a global context.
