Abstract

Stunting remains a serious public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly among children under two years of age. Poor quality complementary feeding (MP-ASI), especially inadequate intake of animal protein, is a major contributing factor to stunting. This community service program aimed to empower families to understand, develop, and implement protein-rich complementary feeding menus as a strategy for preventing stunting among toddlers. The methods included interactive nutrition education, demonstrations of complementary food preparation, hands-on practice in preparing daily menus at home, and evaluation based on participant feedback and short-term post-intervention monitoring. The program involved families with children aged 6–24 months and Posyandu health cadres. The evaluation results showed that this community service activity improved participants’ knowledge and skills in selecting nutritious local food ingredients and preparing complementary foods containing animal protein sources such as eggs, fish, and chicken. Participants were also able to develop more varied daily complementary feeding menus that met toddlers’ nutritional needs. Furthermore, follow-up monitoring conducted by cadres indicated an increased frequency of animal protein use in complementary feeding and the application of weekly menus as feeding guides. Participants reported that the educational materials were easy to understand and practical for daily implementation. This program demonstrates that family empowerment through education is an effective strategy to support stunting prevention at the community level. Sustainable and collaborative program implementation involving Posyandu cadres is strongly recommended to achieve broader and long-term behavioral change.

Abstract

Elderly Posyandu activities require cadres with adequate competencies in providing health services, data collection, and utilizing information technology. This Community Service Program aims to increase the capacity of Elderly Posyandu cadres through coaching on elderly-friendly services and introducing IT applications to support recording, reporting activities, and browsing health-related applications. The program was held on December 1, 2025, at the Duren Sawit Bersatu RPTRA, Duren Sawit Village, East Jakarta, and was attended by cadres from 17 neighborhood associations (RW) around 100 participants. Methods used included interactive lectures, service simulations, IT application workshops, group discussions, and pre-posttest evaluations. The results of the program demonstrated increased knowledge among cadres regarding Elderly Posyandu management, digital record keeping, and the use of applications as a supporting medium for services. This program can improve the effectiveness and accuracy of elderly services and is recommended for ongoing implementation.

Abstract

Anemia among pregnant women is a significant factor contributing to maternal and infant mortality, preterm birth, and stunting if not promptly addressed (Indonesian Health Profile, 2023). One preventive measure is meeting nutritional needs through the consumption of dates, which are rich in iron—approximately 13.7 mg per 100 grams (Satuhu, 2010). The role of midwives in managing anemia, as stated in Midwifery Care Standard No. 6, includes prevention, detection, treatment, and referral of anemia cases in pregnant women. An educational outreach on the benefits of dates was conducted at the Permata Bunda Clinic to increase pregnant women’s knowledge about improving hemoglobin (Hb) levels through date consumption. Among the 39 participants, the average pre-test score was 63.62, which increased to 77.08 in the post-test, showing an average gain of 20.28 points. The standard deviation also decreased from 23.77 to 12.41, indicating that participants’ knowledge became more consistent after the session. These findings demonstrate that the educational intervention on date consumption effectively enhanced the understanding of expectant mothers regarding the need to sustain adequate hemoglobin levels throughout the gestational period, contributing to the prevention of anemia, stunting, and obstetric complications.

Abstract

Public awareness of the importance of environmental health, particularly in waste management, remains very low, which can lead to various diseases and an uncomfortable living environment. This community service activity aimed to increase awareness and participation among residents of Reroroja Village, Magepanda District, Sikka Regency, through educational activities on health and collective community clean-up activities involving students. The method used was descriptive qualitative research, with data collected through direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and participation in community clean-up activities. The results showed that student involvement in both educational efforts and practical actions improved community understanding of the importance of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), especially in waste management and the prevention of environment-related diseases. Active community participation also strengthened the values of mutual assistance and togetherness, while creating opportunities for long-term collaboration between educational institutions and the community. These findings indicate that participatory approaches combining education and practical actions are highly effective in increasing environmental awareness and encouraging cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable lifestyles.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. Reroroja Village, located in Sikka Regency, is an endemic area with a high number of cases reported annually. Low public awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness increases the risk of disease transmission. This Community Service Program (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/PKM) aimed to enhance the ability of students at SMP Negeri Reroroja to conduct early prevention of DHF through interactive training activities. The methods employed included health education using PowerPoint presentations, leaflet distribution, educational games, question-and-answer sessions, and group discussions. The results indicated an improvement in students’ understanding, with 90% of participants able to mention three DHF prevention measures (the 3M Plus movement). Participants’ enthusiasm was evident through their active involvement in asking questions and participating in discussions. This activity demonstrates that school-based education plays an effective role in fostering clean and healthy living behaviors and encouraging students to become agents of change within their communities.
