Abstract

The area of Uraur village in the lowlands provides an advantage for raising Bali cattle. This type of cattle is in demand by breeders because it can adapt well. Forage is the main feed for ruminants which has a role in survival and production. Inadequate availability of forage, both in quantity and quality, is one of the obstacles to developing a cattle breeding business in Uraur village. During the rainy season, the grazing area is flooded; during the dry season, there is a deficit of fresh forage. The aim of PKM activities is to apply feed technology to make silage of food crop waste used as animal feed. This activity includes a social approach with the Village Government and partner breeder groups regarding the aims and objectives of implementing community service so that the objectives of this activity can be achieved, counseling, and questions and answers about various practical knowledge related to the technical processing of food crop waste, distribution of livestock cultivation books as information regarding livestock cultivation including the processing of food crop waste into quality feed. Making corn straw silage using corn starch accelerator and EM4. Community service activities carried out in Uraur Village increased the knowledge and skills of farmers regarding the application of feed technology: making corn straw silage.

Abstract

As a component of the coastal ecosystem, mangroves play an important role, both in maintaining coastal productivity and in supporting the human lives especially of the surrounding communities. The rehabilitation of the mangrove ecosystems in South Buano Village, West Seram, was the program of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of Maluku Province, which involved the participation of the local communities. The socialization was carried out at the South Buano District Office on December 6th, 2021, attended by the Buano Village communities. The participants, who attended the meeting, came from various age levels, including parents and children. Mothers and school-age children dominated the majority of the participants. The involvement of the community in this mangrove rehabilitation was important because they would gain the awareness in maintaining the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem. Mangrove tree planting that involves school age children would provide knowledge and could foster a sense of love for mangroves since the early age.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic country consisting of 13,466 islands with a land area of 1,922,570 km2 and a water area of 3,257,483 km2. Based on Law no. 4 of 2011, that the area of coral reefs in Indonesia based on analysis of satellite imagery is around 2.5 million hectares. In addition, Indonesia is in the world's coral reef triangle area which makes Indonesia the center of world coral reef diversity with a total of 569 species belonging to 82 genera. Nonetheless, coral reefs are highly vulnerable to damage, particularly by human pressure. The partner's problem is the lack of sufficient knowledge regarding the identification of coral reefs so that there is a need for training and coaching. The solutions offered in solving partner problems include conducting: training related to how to identify coral reefs in Mamala Coastal Waters, Central Maluku, coaching related to monitoring community activities that damage coral reef ecosystems, and monitoring and evaluation of all activities that have been carried out. The resulting output is a publication in the Unpatti Ambon dedication journal (BAKTI). The implementation method is in the form of observation or initial approach to students of Nature Lovers (MAPALA) IAIN Ambon, Counseling, Training, Monitoring and Evaluation. The results achieved after the initial approach, counseling and training, Nature Lover Students (Mapala) IAIN Ambon City have the ability to identify Coral Reefs and increase knowledge about the types of Coral Reefs and the application of the Line Intercept Transect Method (LIT)

Abstract

Initiated by the Christian Private High School, YPKPM Ambon, the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile, through one of its programs, motivated the students to be involved in the efforts to reduce the effects of global warming. This activity obtained assistance from the university staffs, especially those who have experiences in the measurements of carbon stocks in forests and other land uses. By the end of this activity, the student could figure out factors that caused global warming and were able to calculate the amount of the carbon stocks stored in various types of land covers. The results of the activity showed that the calculation of the above-surface carbon in the Urban Forest area, for each type, were as follows: dense vegetation (104.57 tons/ha), sparse vegetation (20.09 tons/ha) and Imperata cylindrica land (0.52 tons/ha), therefore, the absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2) stored in Dense Vegetation were 383.43 tons/ha, Sparse Vegetation were 73.68 tons/ha and Imperata cylindrica land were 1.90 tons/ha. This activity also suggested that urban forest areas with Imperata cylindrica closure type needed a land rehabilitation activity such as planting trees.

Abstract

Understanding of religious teachings is something that must be done by every adherent. This understanding is not only about the teaching itself but also understanding the various interpretations of the teaching. When a person can understand the various interpretations that exist, he will be more likely to take the middle path (moderate) from what he understands. An extreme attitude in understanding religious values will emerge when a believer of a religion has no alternatives. This activity was carried out by identifying the problems faced by youth of the Al Ali mosque in internalizing the notion of religious moderation, so PkM activities were held with the theme "Empowerment and training of Youth of the Al-Ali Mosque as Agents of Religious Moderation" as well as providing a briefing on strategies and tactics for spreading inclusive religious understanding . Increasing the understanding of religious moderation among mosque youth is very important so that youth in mosques can realize that religion is their innate nature which must be actualized in this life. So that mosque youth can develop multicultural and multireligious insights both within the mosque and in the community, intensify community-based dialogue between religions, and involve the younger generation/millennials to organize cross-cultural and religious socio-economic activities.

Abstract

Animal feed forage is the main source of food that is needed the most by ruminant livestock to survive, breed, and increase their productivity. One of the high-quality grass that is most often given to the livestock is bermudagrass (pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott.), because it has a high nutritional content and is palatable. The purpose of community service activity in Uraur village, Kairatu, West Seram Region in the form of education and production of cultivation garden for high quality grass such as bermudagrass (pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott.), is to increase the knowledge of breeders and to provide fresh greed feed with high nutritional value, in order to fulfill the need of ruminant livestock. This community service activity uses the participatory observation method, involving villagers that own livestock in Uraur Village as respondents and partners. This activity increases the knowledge of the breeders because by planting high quality grass (bermudagrass) and using it as fodder they could increase their livestock’s productivity, which in return contribute to the wellbeing of cattle (ruminant livestock) breeders. It most likely happens because bermudagrass has 10 -15 % protein content depending on harvest age, and has low content of crude fiber. The production of bermudagrass could reach up to 60 Ton/Ha/Year. This community service could increase the knowledge about cultivation of high quality grass (bermudagrass), and the availability of sample grass field for breeders in Uraur Village.

Abstract

The aim of planting coastal vegetation in Hatusua Village is to rehabilitate damaged environmental conditions and support the recovery of coastal ecosystems. Beach forest rehabilitation activities are carried out in 2 stages, namely: First Stage; Socialization, training and assistance for farmer groups and the second stage is planting in the designated rehabilitation area. The species used in coastal forest rehabilitation are: Ketapang (Terminalia catappa), Hutung (Barringtonia asiatica) and Bintangur Pantai (Calophyllum inophyllum). Socialization, Training and Assistance of Farmers and Community Groups is carried out by the lecturer staff of the Department of Forestry, University of Pattimura to increase the knowledge and skills of coastal communities in carrying out beach forest rehabilitation. Planting activities are carried out jointly by academics, village government and the community. The participation of all parties needs to be increased in maintenance of tree species planted so that the plants can grow well in the field. In addition, cooperation is needed in monitoring various destructive community practices, which have a negative impact on the preservation of the beach forest of Hatusua Village.
