Abstract

The research entitled the patchworck sewing lessons at the XI students in the department of creative craft batik and textile of SMK N 4 Padang. The purpose of this research was to determine: (1) the causes of the low of students' ability in patchwork sewing techniques using a sewing machine. (2) How to improve students' ability to make patchwork sewing techniques using a sewing machine. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with the subject of students from XI students in the department of creative craft batik and textile of smk n 4 padang totaling 20 people, consisting of 19 female students and 1 male student. This research used observation, interviews, literature study and documentation in collecting the data. The results of this research indicated that the causes of the low of students' ability in patchwork sewing techniques using sewing machines were the presence of students who pay less attention to the teacher when explaining theoretical and practical material, limited learning time and constraints on the sewing machine. How to improve it by doing training outside of class hours, namely making patchwork sewing techniques using a sewing machine.

Abstract

This research was conducted to increase students' creativity in utilizing aluminum waste for metal crafts at SMA Negeri 1 Panyabung Utara. The main source of problems in research is that students tend to be more passive and less creative, so that they are constrained in generating ideas for metal work. This study aims to increase students' creativity by utilizing aluminum waste and to find out the form of metal crafts produced by utilizing aluminum waste with press carving and filigree techniques. Data collection techniques in this study are active participation observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of the study proved that there was an increase in the creativity of class XI students in making various metal craft products. To increase students' creativity in utilizing aluminum waste, several important stages are carried out, namely sorting materials, preparing equipment, making designs/sketches, the creative process of making decorative and functional metal craft products. In addition, to measure students' abilities can be seen based on creativity in designing works, perseverance in working on works and students' skills in making works. Efforts are made to increase student creativity, namely by providing motivation using varied learning media and displaying visual forms in the form of videos of metal craft work processes and photos of examples of metal craft products.

Abstract

Self-image is an individual's knowledge of self related to mental images, personality, appearance, and abilities. The self-image that is built from time to time can be very positive or negative, the determinant of this can be seen from the stages of psychosocial development theory, the turbulent phase for the author from the adolescent stage to early adulthood. Based on the author's experience of the self that developed during the maturation process when searching for identity and living in a new environment, it cause to negative speculations about self. This self-perception becomes a stimulus for writers in creating works of art. The presence of this work is a form of self-reflection to become a better individual. The form of artwork that is realized is representational artwork using deformation in the form of idealization with mixed media on canvas using plaque and aquarel techniques. The method of creation carried out at the preparation stage is selecting ideas, observing objects, and producing reference images, proceeding to the design stage, this stage making visual strategies, alternative sketches, and selecting sketches, then at the embodiment stage the preparation of tools and materials and transfer of sketches onto canvas as a painting medium, cultivating the work to completion and proceeding to the presentation stage, after all the stages are carried out then an exhibition is held. The project of this work has been realized into five works of art, with the titles “Anxiety”, “Ego”, “Field of Mind”, “Reparation”, “Reflective Decision”.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative research. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. This research aimed to determine the effect of ability to drawing motifs of class XI at SMKN 8 Padang and the factors that influence the ability to drawing motifs. The population in this research were students of class XI majoring in Textile Crafts department at SMKN 8. Meanwhile, the sample was selected based on "purposive sampling" which is taking samples based on special characteristics that are in accordance with the research objectives. Sample were 30 students of class XI from Textile Crafts department. The questionnaire is used to collect the data. Questionnaires are arranged based on the variable of drawing ability, the motives are described based on variable indicators, then developed into items of questions. While the data's achievement are taken by teacher subject in final grade documentation. The results of this study indicate that the relationship between the ability to draw motifs with batik craft learning outcomes is significant. The average score of ability to drawing motifs (3.00) while the average score of learning achievement (3.00).

Abstract

Disney lifted the fairy tale entitled The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen into a film called Frozen in 2013. In the Frozen film, Disney keeps several moral messages in the film. After observing the film, the focus of the message is the message of brotherhood, namely sibling rivalry in this case is the relationship between siblings. Disney conveys the message through the main characters Anna and Elsa. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out how the characters in the Frozen film narrative can describe this sibling rivalry that is told in the Frozen film. The research uses the semiotics of Saussure and the semiotics of Charles Sanders Pierce. So it is known that the characters and their narratives affect each other how the message is delivered in the film. Narrative and characters are one unit that builds the story. The characters of Anna and Elsa appear as representations of siblings in human life where as a form of human relations with other humans in the social sphere, it is not uncommon for siblings to experience this sibling rivalry.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative method which aims to determine the form of student creativity in hand-drawn batik before and after the research, the supporting and inhibiting factors of students' creativity in writing batik, and the form of student creativity in learning batik. The researcher acts as an instrument that goes directly to the field with data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the creativity of students in making written batik before the research did not achieve maximum results in terms of shapes, motifs, colors and attachments and students only used shapes, motifs and colors determined by the teacher based on the tasks according to the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP). due to limited learning time during the covid-19 pandemic. The results of learning batik after research, students' creativity has increased. Students have been able to develop the form of batik work, give birth to their own creative motifs, use various colors and the attachments look neat and unbroken. Efforts are made to increase student creativity, namely; utilizing facilities and infrastructure in the form of theoretical rooms, corridors, chairs and tables as an alternative to the limited practice space and batik equipment and preparing various learning media in the form of pictures, videos of the batik process and batik products that have been produced.
