Abstract

This research explores the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation on industrial transformation through a comprehensive literature review. The findings show that AI and automation have the potential to improve operational efficiency, productivity and innovation across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, services, healthcare and finance. However, the application of these technologies presents significant challenges, such as the reduction of traditional employment, the need to develop new skills, and ethical and data security issues. The study highlights the importance of investment in technology infrastructure, workforce training, and organisational culture adaptation to reap the maximum benefits of AI and automation. In addition, mitigation strategies and the formation of strategic partnerships are recommended to overcome negative impacts and ensure the success of industrial transformation in the digital age.

Abstract

Howard Barker’s The Castle explores power, identity, and self-realization in a post-crusade medieval society. Barker’s Theatre of Catastrophe rejects conventional narratives, focusing on ambiguity and moral paradox. The play examines the clash between patriarchal authority, personal desires, and the communal upheaval caused by returning crusaders. This study places Barker’s work within critiques of power and explores the conflict between subjugation and agency. This paper examines how Barker depicts the interplay of power and identity in the play. It focuses on characters transforming under oppressive systems. The study also explores Barker’s critique of dominant ideologies. Using close reading, this study analyses dialogues, characters, and structure in the play. It investigates the treatment of power and identity. The analysis uses poststructuralist theory, particularly Michel Foucault and Judith Butler, to explore identity construction and deconstruction. Barker’s essays and critical analyses of the Theatre of Catastrophe provide additional context. The analysis finds that The Castle portrays power as a dynamic and oppressive force. This force both shapes and fractures identity. Characters like Ann, Skinner, and Stucley resist imposed social, religious, and political roles. Through rebellion and defiance, they assert their agency. Barker’s fragmented narrative and morally ambiguous characters show identity as unstable and contingent. Barker’s The Castle critiques power’s corrosive effects on identity. It also highlights resistance and transformation as paths to self-realization. The play’s unresolved nature reflects the enduring complexity of power relations. By challenging traditional views of authority, Barker invites reflection on complicity in oppressive systems. This study contributes to broader discussions of power and identity in drama and literature. It underscores Barker’s relevance to political and philosophical debates.

Abstract

Linguistic differences and cultural norms are often a major source of misunderstanding and tension in digital interactions. Language barriers can reduce the effectiveness of information exchange, while differences in etiquette and communication styles can affect the quality of communication and coordination between cultures. Differences in access to technology also contribute to unequal participation in global digital communication. Therefore, concerted efforts are needed from technology providers and international organisations to create platforms that are more inclusive and responsive to cultural diversity. Improved cross-cultural education and digital literacy are key to addressing these challenges and supporting harmonious interactions online.

Abstract

The development of financial technology (Fintech) has brought about important changes in the traditional banking system. Fintech is introducing innovative solutions that make financial services more efficient, faster and accessible to the masses. Technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data analytics enable financial services that are more personalised and responsive to user needs. However, these advancements also challenge conventional banks to adapt quickly, develop digital services, and invest in technological innovation. Increased competition and the need to update regulations and data security are the main challenges that traditional banks must face in this digital era.

Abstract

The implementation of the Smart City concept in Indonesia is growing, focusing on the use of information and communication technology to improve the efficiency of public services and the quality of life of urban communities. Positive trends can be seen from the various projects that have been launched in major cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung, as well as government support and private sector involvement. However, Smart City development in Indonesia still faces a number of challenges such as the digital divide, uneven infrastructure, and regulations that are not yet fully supportive. Nevertheless, the opportunity to scale up Smart City implementation remains great, especially with multi-stakeholder collaboration and increased public awareness. By overcoming these challenges, Indonesia has the potential to successfully transform its cities into more efficient, safe and sustainable Smart Cities.

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in the business world has become a major focus in the literature addressing business adaptation and resilience. This study reviews the literature to explore how AI and automation technologies can be applied to improve operational efficiency, respond quickly to market changes, and manage supply chains and human resources more effectively. The results of this study show that AI and automation can not only optimise business processes by reducing costs and human error, but can also improve a company's ability to anticipate and cope with disruptions and crisis situations. As such, the integration of AI and automation gives companies a significant competitive advantage, enabling better adaptation to changing business environments and improving overall resilience.

Abstract

Cultural differences can affect communication in general, making it difficult to reach a solution. Cultural differences can make communication difficult due to misunderstandings between individuals. People who have just moved from their home environment will find it difficult to adapt if they are not used to the changes. Cultural differences in the workplace lead to differences in the way ideas, perceptions and everyday behaviours are communicated. This also means that there are differences in intercultural communication strategies. If the communication strategy used is appropriate, the communication that takes place in the work environment will be more effective. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the object of research being DPW PKB Lampung Province. The research subjects are DPW PKB employees from Lampung, Java, Sunda and Semendo ethnic groups. The data collection techniques used are observation, in-depth interviews, documentation and literature review. Furthermore, the research data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model as a guide for data processing.  The results of this study, namely DPW PKB Lampung Province employees, show that students are aware of the importance of effective communication strategies in intercultural interactions. Some informants have implemented some elements of Steve Carteledge's communication strategy in their communication practices with other tribes, such as planning, adaptation, and strategy development. However, some informants still need to increase their awareness or knowledge of best practices in intercultural communication.
