Abstract

Improvement of Impulse Buying Students in Semarang on Local Fashion Products Through Ethnocentrism, Brand Image, and Country of Origin (COO)Impulse buying is a very interesting phenomenon for retailers and marketers because it is the biggest market share and occupy a very important position and can increase sales. The aim of the research is to analyze whether the Country of Origin ( COC), brand image and ethnocentrism significantly affect students impulse buying of local fashion in Semarang city. Data analysis used in this research is linier regression analysis. The result shows that COO the only variables that do not significantly affect students impulse buying. Need a strategy of brand image reinforcement and promotion emphasized on the love of domestic products. Promotion of products at the local level of Semarang city needs to be improved by taking into account the values of excellence and local wisdom.DOI: 10.15408/ess.v8i1.6979

Abstract

The Relationship Between Volatility and Trading Volume in The Indonesian Stock ExchangeThere are a lot of studies that examine the relationship between volatility and trading volume in the stock exchange. This study is conducted to examine the role of trading frequency and volume in explaining the volatility-volume relationship in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The analysis is conducted at the firm level with samples of 38 individual stocks from January 2012 to December 2013. The results show that there is a positive relationship between volatility and trading frequency as well as between volatility and trading volume. The results also find that trading frequency is better than trading volume in explaining volatility.DOI:  10.15408/ess.v7i1.3894

Abstract

The development of information systems in human life along with the of human civilization itself until finally getting to know the term information technology. Pay attention to the development of such information, we will study briefly the history of information technology in an effort to get the integrity of science and knowledge about information technology. History of technology we can divide into pre-history, past history, and modern times. The utilization of ICT in learning in Indonesia has had a long enough history. Initiative hosted the radio broadcast education and educational television is an attempt do the dissemination of information to the education units are scattered throughout the archipelago. This is a manifestation of consciousness to optimize the domestication of technology in helping the learning process of the community. Along with the need for methods and concept learning is more effective and efficient, the utilization of information technology for education was not inevitable. The concept would later be known as e-learning brings the influence of conventional education, to the process of tranformasi in digital form, either generally contents (contents) and his system. This research aims to apply and implement the concept of e-learning is a teaching and learning that enables tersampaikannya learning materials to students using internet media. With the e-learning is expected to facilitate the teaching and learning process is conducted without limited location, time and costs. The method is done by charging a questionnaire to find out the needs of the user that there is a facebook application and utilization in building E-learning applications. The programming is done with the PHP language and customize with FBML is a framework from Facebook itself. Research results is a system application that will be used in assisting the process of teaching and learning online. This application can support distance learning. This application runs in the facebook application that is very easy to be accessed by the user, which the user is a student and lecturerDOI: 10.15408/ess.v4i3.2437

Abstract

Social media is an effective media to increase brand popularity. Previous studies found that the brand has significant effects on the consumers purchasing decision. Indicator of brand popularity on social media includes the number of followers, likes, shares, comments, and views of the video. The objective of this study is to analyze the effects of post time, post content, and brand interaction on brand post popularity of Facebook fan page. Data collected through observation of six (6) international top brands on the Facebook fan page. Data were analyzed using logit regression method. The results show that post time, post content, and brand interaction have significant effects on brand popularity. The managerial implication, it is crucial to highlight that Facebook is a useful platform on brand popularity building. Our discussion section shows some suggested in managing the brand based on our results.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that affect poverty in Indonesia. The method used in this study is a multi-linear regression, which is an analysis tool that is used to see the effect of the independent variables which are, the level of income per capita, the rate of inflation, the level of household consumption, level of education, human development index (HDI) and the poverty level as dependen variable. The data used in this study is secondary data of 33 provinces in Indonesia in 2012. From the study it can be concluded that the variable income per capita, inflation, education level human development index (HDI) and consumption  simultaneously affects variable rate of poverty, it can be seen from the test that showing the level signifkansi f <0.05. And from R square is known that the independent variable can explain the poverty rate by 56 percent and the remaining 44 percent would be explained by other variables whose not examined in this studyDOI: 10.15408/ess.v4i1.1966

Abstract

The Stock Portfolios' Performance of Food, Property, and Mining IndustryThis research aimed to analyze the Portfolio's performance of food industry, property, and mining. There are three parameters, namely: Sharpe Performance, Traynor Performance, and Jensen Performance. The three performance measurements assume that there is a linear connection between the return portfolios with the return of some market index. During the period, 2009 to 2013, and the mining and gas sub-sector are more productive than the other sub-sectors. The mining sector is better than the Property Sector and the Food Sector. Then based on the method of Jensen ALPHA it showed the highest performance group of mining stocks, in proportion to the risk which is also very high. The study suggests that the existing has to be maintained and further improved so that the mission to develop sources of potential energy into a profitable investment portfolio can sustain.DOI: 10.15408/ess.v7i2.5354

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of firm age, firm size, leverage, profitability and concentration of ownership on intellectual capital disclosure. The sample of this study is from property and real estate firm that listed on Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2010 until 2014. This research using purposive sampling method, to determine the sample of this research with 80 companies as population and 16 companies as sample. This research using multiple linear regression analyzed method by SPSS program version 22 for windows. Partially, the results of this research indicate that only firm size has an effect on intellectual capital disclosure, while firm age, leverage, profitability and concentration of ownership do not have an effect on intellectual capital disclosure. The result also indicates that firm age, firm size, leverage, profitability and concentration of ownership simultaneously have an effect on intellectual capital disclosure.DOI: 10.15408/ess.v5i2.2350

Abstract

Financial reaction signal is one of the crucial points to predict the stock’s price. This study aims to identify the financial reaction signal toward the stock’s price on the agricultural sector in Indonesia. The variables studied were Return on Equity (ROE), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Market Value Added (MVA) as independent variables and Stock Price as the dependent variable. Using purposive sampling, the sample of this study to be 11 companies agricultural sector is listed on IDX (2012-2016). The method of this research is the regression analysis of panel data. The result shows that ROE and DER have no significant effect on the stock price in the agricultural sector. While the results shows MVA have a significant influence on the stock price in the agricultural sector.DOI: 10.15408/ess.v8i2.7598

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh Rasio Profitabilitas, Rasio Aktivitas, Rasio Pasar, Firm Size, Tingkat Suku Bunga dan Nilai Tukar terhadap Return Saham Perusahaan Makanan dan Minuman di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Sampel yang digunakan adalah perusahaan makanan dan minuman yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama periode 2008 – 2011, total sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 44 sampel.Metode pengambilan sampel dengan Purposive Sampling.Model analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah regresi linier berganda.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Profitabilitas (ROE), Rasio Pasar (PBV), Firm Size ( Total Aset), Tingkat Suku Bunga (SBI)tidak pengaruh terhadap Return Saham, Rasio Aktivitas (TATO) dan Nilai Tukar (Kurs Tengah BI) berpengaruh dengan Return saham.DOI: 10.15408/ess.v4i1.1957
