The Journal of Management Education (JME) encourages contributions that respond to important issues in management education. The overriding question that guides the journal’s double-blind peer review process is: Will this contribution have a significant impact on thinking and/or practice in management education? Contributions may be either conceptual or empirical in nature, and are welcomed from any topic area and any country so long as their primary focus is on learning and/or teaching issues in management or organization studies. Although our core areas of interest are organizational behavior and management, we are also interested in teaching and learning developments in related domains such as human resource management & labor relations, social issues in management, critical management studies, diversity, ethics, organizational development, production and operations, sustainability, etc. We are open to all approaches to scholarly inquiry that form the basis for high quality knowledge creation and dissemination within management teaching and learning.

Abstract

Kepemimpinan transformasional adalah gaya kepemimpinan yang berfokus pada menginspirasi dan menggerakkan orang-orang di sekitar pemimpin untuk mencapai tujuan yang lebih tinggi dan lebih mulia. Dalam konteks Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), efikasi diri mengacu pada keyakinan tentang kemampuan mereka untuk berperilaku secara positif di tempat sekolah di luar tugas-tugas pokok mereka. Budaya organisasi yang mendorong untuk mengambil inisiatif, berkreasi, dan berani mengambil risiko dapat meningkatkan tingkat OCB. Keadilan organisasi, yang mencakup prosedur yang adil dan konsisten dalam pengambilan keputusan, menciptakan iklim di mana merasa dihargai dan terlibat secara positif dalam organisasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif literature,pendekatan penelitian yang melibatkan analisis terhadap kumpulan sumber-sumber informasi yang relevan, seperti jurnal ilmiah, buku, tesis, dan artikel, untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang komprehensif tentang topik penelitian tertentu Manajemen yang memperhatikan dan mengelola faktor-faktor ini dengan baik dapat menciptakan lingkungan sekolah yang mendukung dan memotivasi untuk berperilaku dengan cara yang mendukung pencapaian tujuan organisasi. Dengan demikian, pemahaman yang baik tentang dinamika ini dapat membantu meningkatkan kinerja organisasi dan kesejahteraan secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

Dalam era digital yang berkembang pesat, tantangan dan strategi implementasi manajemen pendidikan menjadi fokus utama bagi institusi pendidikan di seluruh dunia. Perubahan teknologi yang cepat menimbulkan berbagai tantangan, termasuk menyelaraskan kurikulum dengan perkembangan teknologi terkini, memastikan kesiapan guru dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi, dan mengatasi kesenjangan aksesibilitas teknologi di antara siswa. Untuk mengatasi tantangan tersebut, institusi pendidikan perlu mengadopsi strategi yang efektif, termasuk penyusunan kurikulum yang fleksibel dan dinamis, program pelatihan komprehensif bagi guru, investasi dalam infrastruktur teknologi, dan implementasi kebijakan keamanan data yang kuat. Dengan menerapkan strategi ini, institusi pendidikan dapat memanfaatkan potensi teknologi untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan aksesibilitas pendidikan bagi semua siswa di era digital yang terus berubah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif melalui studi pustaka untuk memberikan gambaran komprehensif tentang tantangan dan strategi implementasi manajemen pendidikan di era digital.

Abstract

Kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam mengelola perubahan sangat penting, mengingat dunia pendidikan yang terus berkembang. Mereka perlu menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung kesejahteraan siswa, serta memastikan bahwa semua siswa mendapatkan kesempatan yang sama untuk belajar dan berkembang. Evaluasi rutin terhadap proses pembelajaran juga menjadi bagian penting dari tugas kepala sekolah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan evaluasi diri sekolah (EDS) adalah proses penting yang berfungsi sebagai alat ukur dan sarana perbaikan berkelanjutan dalam lembaga pendidikan. EDS meliputi penyusunan instrumen, pengumpulan dan analisis data, penentuan akar masalah, serta penyusunan rekomendasi strategis. Melibatkan semua pemangku kepentingan guru, siswa, dan orang tua menciptakan budaya evaluasi yang inklusif dan kolaboratif.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal's leadership strategy in improving teacher performance and learning quality in Junior High Schools (SMP). The study was conducted qualitatively with descriptive-analytic methods at SMP Negeri 3 Ambara, Semarang Regency. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that principals who implemented transformational leadership succeeded in increasing teacher motivation and commitment. Effective strategies include routine supervision, teacher training, creating a conducive school climate, and consistent learning evaluation. Routine supervision provides constructive feedback to teachers, while a conducive school climate encourages collaboration and innovation in the learning process. However, several obstacles were found, such as time constraints and the difficulty of building collaboration between teachers in an individualistic environment. Overall, this study confirms that effective principal leadership plays an important role in improving teacher performance and the quality of education in schools.

Abstract

Dalam era globalisasi dan digitalisasi saat ini, kecakapan literasi finansial menjadi keterampilan penting yang perlu dimiliki oleh individu sejak usia dini. Literasi finansial meliputi kemampuan dalam mengelola keuangan secara bijak, seperti memahami konsep dasar keuangan, membuat anggaran, menabung, dan membuat keputusan finansial yang cerdas. Keterampilan ini memiliki dampak jangka panjang bagi kesejahteraan individu dan keluarga, serta mampu membentuk kebiasaan finansial yang sehat di masa mendatang. Sayangnya, literasi finansial masih sering diabaikan dalam pendidikan formal di tingkat sekolah dasar (SD), terutama di Indonesia, sehingga banyak anak-anak yang tumbuh tanpa pemahaman mendasar tentang pengelolaan keuangan. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan literasi finansial sejak usia dini, muncul inisiatif-inisiatif yang berfokus pada pengajaran keuangan di tingkat Sekolah Dasar. Salah satu inisiatif tersebut adalah program CALISTA (Cafe Literasi Siswa), yang dirancang sebagai ruang edukatif yang inovatif untuk meningkatkan kecakapan literasi finansial pada anak-anak SD. Program ini bertujuan untuk membangun pemahaman siswa mengenai konsep dasar keuangan, seperti membuat anggaran, memahami nilai uang, dan mengembangkan keterampilan dalam mengelola sumber daya dengan bijaksana. CALISTA didesain dalam bentuk kafe literasi, yaitu ruang untuk prakteknya seorang entrepreneur cilik di sekolah . Program ini diharapkan mampu menumbuhkan minat anak-anak dalam belajar literasi finansial melalui pendekatan interaktif, fun learning, dan suasana edukatif yang menyenangkan.

Abstract

Dalam era globalisasi yang ditandai oleh kemajuan teknologi dan informasi, pendidikan menjadi kunci utama untuk mempersiapkan generasi muda menghadapi tantangan kompleks. Kualitas pendidikan tidak hanya tergantung pada kurikulum, tetapi juga pada penerapan strategi manajemen pendidikan yang inovatif. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi berbagai strategi manajemen pendidikan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas siswa agar siap bersaing di tingkat global. Metode yang digunakan adalah tinjauan pustaka yang mencakup analisis kritis terhadap artikel, buku, dan dokumen kebijakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan kurikulum berbasis kompetensi, pelatihan berkelanjutan bagi pendidik, dan integrasi teknologi dalam pembelajaran merupakan elemen kunci dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang adaptif. Selain itu, kolaborasi dengan sektor industri melalui program magang dan proyek kolaboratif memberikan siswa pengalaman praktis yang berharga. Dengan mengimplementasikan pendekatan ini, diharapkan siswa tidak hanya menguasai pengetahuan teoritis, tetapi juga keterampilan praktis dan soft skills yang diperlukan untuk berkompetisi di pasar kerja global. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kerjasama antara lembaga pendidikan, industri, dan masyarakat sangat penting untuk menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan yang mendukung perkembangan siswa secara holistik.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Education Management Information System (SIMP) and the Regional Education Management Information System (SIMPeD) in improving school operational efficiency. This system allows the integration of various administrative processes, such as financial management, student data, and academic processes, which can reduce administrative burdens, accelerate decision-making, and optimize resource allocation. SIMP and SIMPeD also increase transparency and accountability in the relationship between schools, students, and parents, as well as facilitate communication and improve the overall quality of education. However, the implementation of this system also faces significant challenges, such as high costs, limited technological infrastructure, training issues, and data security and privacy. This study uses a literature study approach to analyze the role of SIMP and SIMPeD in improving school operational efficiency by summarizing theories, concepts, and previous research findings. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide insight into the importance of SIMP in supporting school operational efficiency and contribute to the development of technology-based education policies in the future.

Abstract

This research highlights the significant role of effective school principal leadership in shaping and enhancing teacher discipline. Effective leadership management, which appropriately applies both transformational and transactional leadership styles, fosters a supportive work climate that encourages teachers to be disciplined and responsible. Principals with a transformational leadership style, emphasizing teacher motivation, shared vision, and involvement in decision-making, are able to nurture teachers' intrinsic commitment to discipline and professional responsibility. Conversely, a transactional leadership style, characterized by a reward and sanction system, provides clear guidelines and reinforces discipline through structured incentives and behavioral control. The study also identifies several supporting factors that influence the success of principals in improving teacher discipline, including school organizational culture, support from educational supervisors, and principals’ interpersonal skills, such as effective communication and empathy.

Abstract

Issues in classroom management often arise due to a lack of student discipline, challenges in teacher authority, and external factors such as social problems faced by students. These can disrupt the smooth flow of the learning process and reduce its effectiveness. This study aims to analyze effective classroom management strategies and identify obstacles that may affect the success of learning. The method used in this study is a literature review, which examines various references related to classroom management, including theories, strategies, and challenges faced by teachers in practice. The findings show that effective classroom management requires the implementation of varied strategies, such as developing lesson plans that align with the curriculum, applying good communication both verbal and non-verbal, and gaining a deep understanding of students' character and background. Additionally, teachers need to apply the appropriate approach to address discipline issues, such as providing guidance, arranging seating, and offering praise or sanctions accordingly. In conclusion, the success of classroom management heavily depends on the collaboration between teachers, students, educational institutions, parents, and the community, in creating an environment that supports the success of learning and the holistic development of students.

Abstract

Innovations in learning management not only play a role in improving students' academic skills but also prepare them to face challenges outside the school environment. By utilizing digital technology and interactive learning methods, students can be more engaged and motivated in the teaching and learning process, which in turn improves learning outcomes. This study aims to explore the impact of student-focused learning innovations, the use of new technologies, and increasing community collaboration on learning. Some approaches, such as project-based learning and flipped classrooms, allow students to develop critical thinking skills, problem solving, and creativity, as well as develop social and emotional skills through collaborative learning. The use of technology also provides fluidity in the learning process and allows teachers to integrate student progress in real-time, so they can adjust the learning approach to individual needs. In addition, innovations in learning management also increase parental involvement in supporting students' academic and emotional development. These innovations overall contribute to the development of skills relevant to the demands of the world of work, such as communication, leadership, and teamwork, which prepare students to face global challenges in the future. This study suggests that educational institutions continue to adopt and develop innovative approaches that can prepare young people to remain competitive in a world full of change and new opportunities.
