Abstract

Hyperemesis gravidarum is excessive nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. This dangerous vomiting is differentiated from the normal morning sickness commonly experienced by pregnant women because its intensity exceeds normal vomiting and lasts during the first trimester of pregnancy. One complication as a direct result of pregnancy is hyperemesis gravidarum, where this complication can be detected and prevented regularly during pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting occur in 60-80% of Primigravida and 40-60% of Multigravida. In one in 1000 pregnancies these symptoms become more severe. This feeling of nausea is caused by increased levels of the hormones estrogen and hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) in the serum. The physiological influence of this increase in hormones is not clear, perhaps due to the central nervous system or insufficient gastric emptying. This hyperemesis can cause dehydration and hunger, the cause of which is unknown. Psychological factors can trigger or worsen vomiting. Weight loss and dehydration. Dehydration can cause changes in electrolyte levels in the blood so that the blood becomes too acidic. If vomiting continues, liver damage can occur. Another complication is bleeding in the retina caused by increased blood pressure when the sufferer vomits. Patients are treated and receive fluids, glucose, electrolytes and vitamins via IV. The general aim of this research is to find out what factors influence the incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum at the Kabanjahe District Health Center. Karo 2023. The type of research used is descriptive correlational with a cross sectional research design. The total population used was 36 people using purposive sampling technique. In collecting secondary and primary data. From the results of statistical tests using Chi-Square, it is known that the p-value is 0.021, so it can be concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between maternal age and the incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women at the Kabanjahe District Health Center. Karo in 2023.

Abstract

In Indonesia in 2020, there were 4,627 cases of MMR and 20,266 cases of IMR. One of the causes MMR and IMR is complications during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and newborn, even 47% of deaths of children under five occur during the neonatal period. Therefore, one of the efforts that can be made to prevent MMR and IMR is with comprehensive midwifery care that is carried out continuously. The purpose of this study was to be able to carry out Comprehensive Midwifery Care on Mrs. R aged 24 years. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The results of the research that has been done are known to Mrs. R experiencing oblique fetal position abnormalities in pregnancy 29 + 6 weeks. At delivery the fetus experienced fetal distress because Mrs. R experienced anxiety disorders so that delivery was performed by sectio caesarea, then at the neonate visit when the baby was 5 days old the baby experienced physiological jaundice, while in the postpartum period the mother did not experience any complications, then the mother chose MAL birth control. The conclusion of this study can be drawn that there is no gap between practice and theory.

Abstract

Nausea and vomiting induced by emesis gravidarum typically do not result in maternal fatality; nevertheless, they may give rise to malnutrition and dehydration due to challenges in consuming food and beverages. Ginger, recognized as a longstanding spice, offers a range of advantages. In addition to its usage as a culinary seasoning, beverage ingredient, and confectionery, ginger is also employed in traditional medicinal concoctions. This study seeks to juxtapose the outcomes preceding and following the administration of ginger aromatherapy to expectant mothers in their first trimester. The methodology employed in this research is experimental in nature, specifically adopting a quasi-experimental blueprint involving a pre-test and post-test configuration without a control cohort. The study cohort encompasses 30 initial trimester expectant mothers grappling with emesis gravidarum, who attended prenatal care at PMB A Klapanunggal. Derived from the outcomes of the 2022 inquiry into the Impact of Ginger Aromatherapy on Emesis Gravidarum Incidence in Pregnant Women at PMB A Klapanunggal Bogor, it can be deduced that a notable distinction exists in the frequency of emesis gravidarum prior to and subsequent to the application of ginger aromatherapy to first-trimester expectant mothers (Two-tailed Sig = 0.000 < 0.005). Furthermore, the expectant mothers comprehended and executed the insights on ginger aromatherapy dispensed by the researcher, proficiently integrating complementary therapy into their domestic routines. Consequently, healthcare establishments are advised to impart awareness regarding the adoption of non-pharmacological treatments, including aromatherapy, which are conveniently accessible and viable for initial trimester expectant mothers.

Abstract

Babies need adequate quality sleep because sleep is important for babies to mature their brains. The baby's body will produce growth hormone when sleeping, so the baby needs enough sleep for optimal development. One factor that influences infant development is rest or the length of sleep. To determine the effect of baby massage with fennel oil on the sleep quality of infants aged 3–12 months. Method one group pretest-post-test design. This study consisted of babies who visited intending to do baby massage at the Ananda Ambarawa Baby Spa Clinic in the January-February 2023 period. There were as many as 70 babies, so in a month, there were an average of 35 babies. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling, with a population of 35 infants and 32 infants as respondents. The PSQI questionnaire (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) was the research instrument used. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon statistical test. The Wilcoxon statistical test showed that the ρ value was <0.001 <α (0.05). The results of this study indicate that every 1-time baby massage intervention with fennel oil can potentially improve the quality of sleep for babies at 3–12 months of age 4,460 times. This result showed that Ha is accepted. In conclusion, baby massage with fennel oil affects sleep quality in infants aged 3–12 months. It is hoped that midwives can continue to motivate mothers and parents to perform infant massage and can be an additional reference for increasing the knowledge and insights of midwifery students, who are expected to become one of the most effective midwifery interventions to improve infant sleep quality.

Abstract

The elderly who live in social institutions are more at risk of depression than the elderly who live with their families. Because the elderly have no place to complain. Depression is often overlooked and triggers suicide. Generally, depression is given pharmacological therapy, namely anti-depressant drugs. However, these drugs have side effects and if not consumed regularly, they will cause symptoms of recurrence. For this reason, non-pharmacological therapy is needed to reduce depression, namely music therapy. Music can increase serotonin which causes feelings of happiness. The purpose of this literature review is to explain the effect of music therapy on reducing depression levels in the elderly living in social institutions based on the literature sources of related scientific research journals. The method used was a search for articles on Google Scholar using the keywords music therapy, elderly, depression, and social homes. Then the articles were selected using PRISMA. Then the data obtained were systematically organized and discussed. Music therapy is effective for reducing depression in the elderly in social institutions. There are no restrictions in doing music therapy, so this therapy can be applied to all patients.

Abstract

ARI is an infectious disease that attacks one or more parts of the respiratory tract, starting from the nose (upper tract) to the alveoli (lower tract) including adnexal tissue, such as the sinuses, middle ear cavity and pleura. ISPA is a respiratory tract infection that lasts for 14 days. ARI can be caused by various causes such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and aspiration. Bacteria that cause ARI include Diplococcus Pneumoniae, Pneumococcus, Streptococcus Pyogenes Staphylococcus Aureus, Haemophilus Influenza, and others. Viruses that cause ARI include influenza, adenovirus, cytomegalovirus. Fungi that cause ARI include Aspergillus Sp, Candida Albicans Histoplasm, and others. Apart from being caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi, ISPA is also caused by aspiration such as food, motor vehicle fumes, fuel oil, amniotic fluid at birth, foreign objects (seeds), small plastic toys, and others. The occurrence of ISPA is certainly influenced by many factors, namely environmental conditions (air pollutants such as cigarette smoke and cooking fuel fumes, density of family members, house ventilation conditions, humidity, cleanliness, season, temperature), availability and effectiveness of health services and infection prevention measures. to prevent spread (vaccines, access to health care facilities, isolation room capacity), host factors (age, smoking habits, ability of the host to transmit infection, nutritional status, previous infections or simultaneous infections caused by other pathogens, general health conditions) and characteristics pathogen (mode of transmission, infectivity, virulence factors such as genes, number or dose of microbes).
