Abstract

This research is motivated by the low poetry writing skills of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Pariaman, which are attributed to inappropriate teaching models, students’ fear of learning activities, lack of enthusiasm, and low creativity in writing poetry. These factors indicate the need for more effective teaching approaches to improve students’ learning outcomes in poetry writing. This study aims to describe the poetry text writing skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 5 Pariaman using the Project Based Learning model assisted animated video media, to describe the poetry text writing skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 5 Pariaman using conventional learning models, and to explain the effect of the Project Based Learning model assisted by animated media on the poetry text writing skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 5 Pariaman. This type of research is quantitative research with an experimental method.

Abstract

This research aims to describe directive speech acts, speaking strategies, and the propriety of directive speech acts with the politeness strategies used by class VIII teachers at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data used in this research is the teacher’s utterances during the learning process in class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. The data source for this research is the Indonesian language teachers. The researcher is the instrument of this research. The data collection techniques for this research are the non-participant observational and note-taking techniques. The research results concluded that there were six teacher directive speech acts in learning in class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. The dominant speech acts teachers use are asking with 135 data and ordering with 52. There are five politeness strategies used. The dominant strategy is bald on record in 176 data. However, the research results also show a mismatch between the form of directive speech acts teachers use and the politeness strategies applied. A total of 41 pieces of data were found that showed this discrepancy.

Abstract

Writing skills are an intellectual activity of a person in pouring ideas or ideas that are in his mind through written language. This study aims to analyze the structure and linguistic rules of the explanatory text of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Pariaman. This type of research is qualitative research. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The source of data in this study is an explanatory text by class VIII students of SMP Negeri 7 Pariaman in the 2023/2024 school year, which is an instrument or research tool is a person or human instrument, namely the researcher himself. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the structure and linguistic rules in the explanatory text of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 7 Pariaman are still lacking. Judging from the language, the use of causal conjunctions is good, the use of chronological conjunctions is lacking, the use of prepositions is lacking, the use of capital letters is lacking, the use of comma punctuation is lacking, and the use of standard words is good.

Abstract

Humanism in modern times, people often experience an identity crisis due to the ideologies that emerge in modern society. There are many problems in modern times caused by humans themselves. Humanism is a matter related to human life and the good and bad of human association must be an example that something good will be rewarded with good deeds and vice versa. The purpose of this study is to describe the value of humanism and the implications of the value of humanism in the novel Rembulan Tenggelam Di Wajahmu by Tere Liye. This type of research is qualitative in the form of written or spoken words from people and observed behaviors such as book literature and internet sites. The method used is descriptive which is done by collecting data in the form of words, pictures, and not numbers. The results obtained in this study were found by researchers related to the value of humanism in the novel Rembulan Tenggelam Di Wajahmu by Tere Liye, which explains one by one the indicators of the value of freedom, the value of cooperation, the value of willing to sacrifice, the value of caring, the value of helping, and the value of solidarity.

Abstract

This study raises the issue of the suboptimal preparation of learning modules that support the learning of popular scientific texts to improve students' literacy and critical thinking skills. The underlying theory is the APKG-1 (Teacher Competency Assessment Tool)-based learning evaluation approach, which assesses various aspects of learning planning. The research method used is qualitative evaluative, through learning modules, interviews with teachers, and library sources and scientific articles. The analysis process includes evaluating the learning module using APKG-1, calculating the average score, categorizing the results in an assessment scale, and analyzing, comparing, and evaluating the results. The results of the study indicate that determining the learning topics and formulating learning objectives in the learning module are very good (score 85). However, aspects of developing materials, media, and learning resources still need to be improved (score 69). Meanwhile, planning learning scenarios (score 83), classroom management (score 77.5), assessment planning (score 72.5), and display of planning documents (score 84.5) are in the good category. The conclusion is that the implementation of APKG-1 can help evaluate and improve the quality of teaching modules that support more effective learning.
