Abstract

This study aims to describe the way teachers in presenting and interacting in the online learning process of Indonesian subjects and to describe the study of Indonesian online learning subjects at State High School 1 Nan Sabaris. This is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The qualitative data were collected by using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The quantitative data were collected by using a questionnaire. The data sources in this study are two teachers of Indonesian subjects, the principal, and 30 students at SMA Negeri 1 Nan Sabaris. The instruments in this study are the researchers themselves for qualitative data and for quantitative data instruments are questionnaires. Data is analyzed by describing, analyzing, and discussing data based on theory. The theory used is related to the theory of online learning in Indonesian subjects. The results showed that the implementation of online learning subjects Indonesian at Sma Negeri 1 Nan Sabaris has been implemented but not yet maximal. The obstacles faced by teachers Indonesian are most widely found are unstable internet networks, technological limitations, and the neglect of students in the collection of tasks. The efforts of teachers to overcome the obstacles obtained in the implementation of online learning have not been fully resolved. Signal and technology constraints, for now, can not be overcome by teachers, but related to dereliction of duty, teachers always monitor and remind students to keep carrying out their duties well in the implementation of online learning in Indonesian learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characteristics of the language of the observation report text and the errors found in the characteristics of language contained in the text of the observation report of students of class X of State High School 1 Enam Lingkung. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods by analyzing the use of language characteristics from the text of the report of the observations of students of class X of State High School 1 Enam Lingkung. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that in this study on the characteristics of the language of the text of the observation report which includes repetition, pronomina, conjunctions, and defenisi sentences in the text of the report of observation of the work of students of class X state high school 1 Six Lingkung is good enough. However, there are still text observation reports that do not meet the characteristics of language contained in the text of the observation report.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of how locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary speech acts are in the discourse of the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi. The purpose of this study is to describe the locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary speech acts in the discourse of the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi. This research is included in the type of qualitative research that uses descriptive methods. The data collection technique in this research is a document review study, with the following steps. First, read and understand the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi, second, identify words that contain speech acts in the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuad, and third, take an inventory of data containing speech acts in the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi. The data analysis technique used is pragmatic analysis. The results of this study indicate that there are locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary speech acts in the discourse of the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the structure, to describe the contents, and to describe the language of procedure text for seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sutera. This research applied qualitative with descriptive methods. The source of the data is written procedure text for seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sutera. The data are collected through documentation studies. The data validation technique in this study is a triangulation technique (cross-check). The data were analyzed based on the aspects of structure, content, and linguistics of the procedure text. The results of the study concluded as follows. First, all the procedure texts have titles, only 23 have objectives, all 30 texts have tools or materials and steps, and on the closing part, students were not able to write a good closing of a procedure text. Second, in terms of content, it was found that there are 20 complete procedure texts and 10 incomplete procedure texts. Third, there are 113 appropriate imperative and 45 inappropriate imperative sentences, 63 correct adverbs, and 3 incorrect adverbs, and there are 385 correct conjunctions and 19 incorrect conjunctions.

Abstract

The purposes of the study were to describe and analyze the factors behind a parent's attitude toward the first child and to describe and analyze the level of volunteerism between the relationship between the parent and the first child in the novel with the social realities of the family in society. This is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The source of the data of this research is Akmal Nasery Basral’s novel, Anak Juta Bintang. This research data is the units of events in the novel. The result of the study shows that the factors behind the attitude of parents towards the first child are factors of birth order and culture. The realitytion, based on the level of excitement between the relationship of parents and the first child in the novel Children of a Million Stars with the social reality of the family in the community proved quite high. This conclusion directs the assessment recommendation that the novel Anak Juta Bintang is a novel that successfully reveals the social reality of society in family relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the values of character education contained in the collection of short stories Rumah Ibu by Harris Effendi Thaha, to describe the values of character education that often appear in the collection of short stories Rumah Ibu by Harris Effendi Thahar, to describe the values of character education that rarely appears in the short story collection Rumah Ibu by Harris Effendi Thahar, and describes the values of character education that are not found in the short story collection Rumah Ibu by Harris Effendi Thahar. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study are narrative sentences and units of events that contain character education values. Sources of data in this study were 12 short stories contained in the collection of short stories Rumah Ibu by Harris Effendi Thahar. The results showed that there were 18 values of character education in the short story collection Rumah Ibu by Harris Effendi Thahar, the value of character education that often appears is the value of religious character education, the value of character education that rarely appears is the value of disciplined and democratic character education.

Abstract

The aims of this research are as to describe the social values and to describe the most dominant social values in the novel Laluir by Haji Abdul Karim Amrullah (HAMKA). This is qualitative research with descriptive method. The data of this research are event units in the form of words, phrases, clauses, or sentences that identify social values in the form of a narrator's narration about characters, actions of characters, and speeches of characters in the background of the novel. The source of the research data is the novel Laluir by HAMKA published by Gema Insani in 2016. The data collection was conducted by reading and understanding the novel, identifying the characters, identifying the event units, and identifying data related to social values in the novel. Overall, 31 data on social values were found in the novel Laluir by Haji Abdul Makil Karim Amrullah. Each of these social values are 10 values of love, 6 values of social responsibility, 5 social values of caring, 6 social values of empathy, and 4 social values of helping. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that social values in the novel Laluir by Haji Abdul Makil Karim Amrullah arise because of the speech of the characters and the narrator and the action of taking h in learning the novel text of high school students of class XII.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the structure and diction in the text of the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 43 Padang. This is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data are the structure and diction in the procedural text of class VII students of SMP Negeri 43 Padang. The source of the data is written procedure text for class VII students of SMP Negeri 43 Padang. The results show the students have written down the five structural text procedures. Of 30 procedure texts, 27 procedure texts have an appropriate title structure, and 3 procedure texts have an inappropriate title structure. Of 29 procedure texts, 9 texts have the right objective structure, and 20 text structures have an inappropriate purpose structure. Of 30 procedure texts 5 texts have the right structure of tools and materials, and 25 texts have the structure of tools and materials that are not right. Of 30 procedure texts, 20 texts have a proper step structure, and 10 procedure texts have an inappropriate step structure. A total of 27 procedure texts, 23 texts have an appropriate summary, and 4 texts have an inappropriate closing structure. In terms of the use of diction, there are 2,201 correct use of diction and 655 inappropriate uses of diction.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to explain the contribution of discourse ability, logical thinking, discourse ability, and logical thinking ability for IX grade student’s editing skill of 12 Junior High School Padang. This is quantitative study with descriptive method and correlational design using. The population of this study are the 228 students of IX grade students at SMP Negeri 12 Padang. Samples comprises of 70 students were obtained using Cluster random sampling. The data is analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment (PPM) corelation test, multiple correlation tes, t test, F test, determinant coefficient formula to know how much independent variables contribute to dependent variables either alone or collectively. The result of this study is as follows. (1) Discourse ability gives significant 64% for editing skills because tcount > ttable or 11 > 1,671. (2) Logical thinking ability gives significant contribution 68,89% for editing skills because tcount > ttable or 12,21 > 1,671. (3) Discourse ability and logical thinking give significant contribution 70,56% for editing skill because F count > F table or 153,391 > 3,14. So, it could be concluded that discourse ability and logical thinking, either alone or collectively give significant contribution for editing skill of IX grade students of 12 Junior High School Padang.

Abstract

This research aims to describe social problems and causes of social problems contained in the novel Laut Cerita by Leila S. Chudori. This type of research is qualitative research that is content analysis using descriptive methods. This research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and discourses that indicate social problems in the novel Laut Cerita by Leila S. Chudori. This research data collection technique is to read and understand the novel to gain a clear understanding of this novel, classify data, and infer data related to social problems. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded several things as follows. First, the social problems that occur in the novel are the problems of poverty, population, crime, and biocracy. Second, the causes of social problems in the novel Laut Cerita, namely economic factors and cultural factors. Social problems in the novel can be used as learning material for literary appreciation for XII grade high school, namely in learning Basic Competencies to show honest, caring, polite behavior, and responsibility in the use of Indonesian to understand and present novels. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that social problems in the novel Laut Cerita arise due to exposure to the speech of characters and narrators and the actions of figures that reflect social problems.
