Abstract

The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the field of education, including in the teaching of Arabic. This article aims to examine the role of digital media in enhancing the effectiveness of Arabic language learning across various educational levels. The study was conducted using the “library research” method, which involves reviewing relevant literature sources, including books, scholarly articles, and research reports. The urgency of writing this journal is based on the pressing need to reform Arabic teaching methods to be more adaptive to technological advancements and the needs of learners in the digital era. The findings show that the use of digital media—such as interactive learning applications, educational videos, e-learning platforms, and social media—can increase learning motivation, student engagement, and accelerate the acquisition of language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This article recommends the structured and continuous integration of digital media into the Arabic language curriculum to create learning experiences that are more dynamic, contextual, and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the versification (ʿaruḍh) and moral values contained in Diwan Ibn al-ʿAdim. The focus of this research includes identifying the types of baḥr (metrical patterns) and zihaf (metrical variations) used in the composition of the poems, as well as revealing the ethical messages embedded within them. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, integrating the principles of ʿilm al-ʿarudh in analyzing the metrical structure of the poems and the Islamic ethical approach in interpreting their moral content. The data consist of selected poetic verses from Diwan Ibn al-ʿAdim, obtained from the Diwan al-ʿArabi digital application. The data were analyzed through three stages: (1) classification of the poetic verses, (2) analysis of the wazan, tafʿilah, and baḥr based on the theory of ʿaruḍh, and (3) interpretation of the moral values reflected in the text. The results show that Diwan Ibn al-ʿAdhim predominantly employs Baḥr Basit, Bahr Ṭawil, and Bahr Kamil, with variations of zihaf such as khaban, qabd, and idmar. In terms of moral content, the poems express various Islamic ethical values, including humility (tawaḍu), patience (sabr), honesty (sidq), chastity (iffah), piety (taqwa), cautiousness (wara), wisdom (hikmah), asceticism (zuhd), generosity (karam), and responsibility. Additionally, the work contains ethical teachings that reflect the relationship between humans and Allah SWT, fellow human beings, and the social environment. The study concludes that Diwan Ibn al-Adim is a literary work that excels not only in aesthetic value through its structured metrical system but also in its rich and timeless moral messages. This research contributes to the development of Arabic literary studies, particularly those that integrate formal analysis and ethical interpretation.

Abstract

This study critically analyzes the Grade II Arabic textbook published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020 to determine its conformity with national textbook standards and the principles of effective Arabic language instruction. Using a qualitative library-research approach and content analysis, the study examines the book’s structure, linguistic accuracy, and pedagogical alignment. The findings reveal significant issues in the selection, sequencing, and integration of materials; inconsistencies in linguistic accuracy and transliteration; as well as weak connections between vocabulary, grammar, and exercises. The graphic elements and illustrations were also found to be inconsistent, pedagogically unsupportive, and sometimes confusing for young learners. Although the textbook meets moral and national value requirements, it does not fully comply with BSNP standards regarding content, presentation, language, and graphics. Therefore, a comprehensive revision is necessary to make the textbook more effective and appropriate for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students.

Abstract

The saying “Man jadda wa jadda” is often used in the Islamic education tradition and carries a moral message about diligence and success. This expression is frequently used, especially in the educational context, as a motivational principle for everyday life. This study aims to analyze the semantic meaning of the expression using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach with text analysis techniques. The analysis is conducted on several levels: surface meaning, associative meaning, and mythic (ideological) meaning. The findings indicate that at the surface level, the expression signifies a causal relationship between seriousness and success. On an associative level, the expression encompasses values such as diligence, optimism, and a sense of responsibility. On a mythic level, the expression constructs a meritocratic ideology that is dominant in society, where success is determined by individual effort.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the intrinsic elements of the nazam Al-Kharidah al-Bahiyyah by Imam Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Abi Hamid al-‘Adawi, focusing on the aspects of ‘arudh (prosody), qafiyah (rhyme), and meaning. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a library research method. The data, comprising words, phrases, and poetic verses from Al-Kharidah al-Bahiyyah, were analyzed through a structural approach to reveal the relationship between the poem's physical and inner structures. The findings indicate that this nazam is predominantly composed in bahr rajaz using the mustaf‘ilun (taf‘ilah) pattern. It incorporates various forms of zihaf and ‘illat—such as khabn, ṭayy, qaṭ‘, and kaff—which create rhythmic, harmonious, and easily memorizable patterns. Regarding the qafiyah, the study identifies the use of both qafiyah muṭlaqah and muqayyadah, which enhance the poem's musicality. Semantically, the nazam systematically conveys the theology of Ahlussunnah wal Jama‘ah, including the categories of rational law (hukum akal), the attributes of Allah and the prophets, sam‘iyyat (eschatological matters), as well as Sufi and moral values. Therefore, this work holds significant aesthetic, spiritual, and pedagogical value within the Islamic educational tradition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze women's subordination and emancipation in the novel Al-Hujurat by Sherine Sami using the Marxist feminism approach. The method used is qualitative descriptive with the novel as the data source. Data collection techniques were carried out through reading and note-taking, while data analysis used Marxist feminism concepts. The results show that the female character experiences subordination in the forms of patriarchal system, exploitation, social reproduction, economic dependency, gender-based division of labor, alienation, and internalization of patriarchal ideology. However, the female character also undergoes an emancipation process through critical consciousness (class consciousness) that emerges gradually, from questioning injustice, recognizing patterns of repeated violence, to making decisions to save herself and determine her own destiny. Thus, the novel Al-Hujurat not only depicts women's subordination within the patriarchal system but also demonstrates that critical consciousness can become the foundation for emancipation toward liberation from oppressive structures.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the historical development of semantics scientifically and methodologically, starting from its early emergence in ancient times among philosophers and linguists, through its intermediate stages in Greek and Arab intellectual traditions, until its completion in modern and contemporary linguistic studies. The research focuses on tracing the historical journey of semantics by highlighting the transformation of ideas concerning the relationship between words and meanings, moving from philosophical reflections to scientific studies based on linguistic analysis. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a historical-linguistic approach, this study examines major semantic issues, including types of meaning, semantic field theory, and semantic relations such as synonymy, polysemy, and antonymy. The study concludes that semantics has developed into an essential branch of linguistics that plays a significant role in understanding language, meaning, and communication.

Abstract

The acquisition of Arabic language cannot be separated from the mastery of sound and pronunciation aspects studied in ‘ilm al-ashwat (phonetics and phonology). However, many Arabic learners experience difficulties in pronouncing certain phonemes due to the influence of their first language and psychological factors. This study aims to analyze the role of ‘ilm al-ashwat in Arabic language acquisition from a psycholinguistic perspective. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using library research. Data were collected from books, scientific journals, academic articles, and other relevant literature, and analyzed through content analysis. The findings reveal that ‘ilm al-ashwat plays a significant role in helping learners recognize, differentiate, and produce Arabic sounds accurately. Arabic language acquisition is influenced by auditory perception, phonological memory, first-language interference, learning motivation, language environment, and instructional methods. Therefore, the integration of psycholinguistic principles into ‘ilm al-ashwat instruction is essential for improving Arabic language proficiency
