Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the understanding and application of the concepts of Al-Istikhdam and Al-Istihrad in Arabic literature, particularly in the science of Badi', which studies beauty and rhetorical techniques in language. Al-Istikhdam refers to the use of words or expressions chosen with a specific purpose to reinforce a certain message or effect in a literary work, while Al-Istithrad relates to the repetition or addition of unexpected elements to create a dramatic effect or increase the depth of meaning. Both concepts have an important role in creating beauty and expressive power in Arabic. This study examines how these two techniques are applied in classical and modern Arabic literary texts, and their effect on the reader's understanding of the meaning conveyed. In this research, a qualitative approach is used with the method of library research and literature review. This study focuses on scholarly journals. Secondary data is the database used, which is obtained through collecting information from various relevant reading sources, such as books, journals, and online articles. The results of this study are expected to provide a deeper insight into the techniques of Badi' and its contribution to the rich Arabic literary tradition.

Abstract

Good pronunciation ability is one of the important aspects in language acquisition, especially for foreign language learners. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of phonetic teaching in improving students' pronunciation from the perspective of teachers and students. Qualitative method was used in this study with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. The study involved several language teachers and students at the secondary level who participated in phonetics-based learning. The results showed that the phonetic teaching method significantly helped students in improving the pronunciation of sounds that were not present in their mother tongue, such as the sounds /θ/ and /ð/. Teachers stated that phonetic teaching provides a clear framework to help students understand the relationship between sounds and phonetic symbols. However, the main challenges faced were limited time to practice pronunciation in depth and students' difficulty in understanding phonetic symbols consistently. Meanwhile, students felt this method increased their confidence in speaking a foreign language, although it required more practice outside the classroom. This research emphasises the importance of integrating phonetic teaching methods in language learning, with technological support and continuous practice to overcome the challenges. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more effective language learning strategies, particularly in improving students' pronunciation aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the cognitive approach in learning nahwu rules for non-Arabic speakers and analyze its effectiveness in improving students' understanding. The cognitive approach is used to optimize students' thinking processes, help them build concepts actively, and link new information to existing cognitive structures. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, literature studies, and documentation analysis. The results of the study indicate that cognitive strategies such as mind mapping, sentence pattern analysis, meaning elaboration, and problem-based learning are effective in helping students understand nahwu rules in depth. In addition, this approach is able to improve long-term memory, analytical skills, and students' learning motivation. However, the success of the implementation is greatly influenced by factors such as students' cognitive readiness, teacher competence, availability of learning media, and available learning time. In conclusion, the cognitive approach makes a positive contribution to the mastery of nahwu rules for non-Arabic speakers, as long as it is supported by systematic and creative learning strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of idghām in the tashrīf (morphological derivation) of triliteral Arabic verbs (fi‘il tsulātsī) through classical and contemporary approaches. Idghām, a phonological assimilation process, is not only fundamental in tajwīd but also crucial in Arabic morphology. Classical perspectives, as seen in the works of scholars like Sibawaih and Ibn Jinni, focus on traditional phonetic rules, whereas contemporary analyses apply modern phonological frameworks such as Optimality Theory. This research identifies various types of idghām including mitslayn, mutajanisayn, and mutaqāribayn and explores their influence on meaning and morphological structure. Findings reveal that idghām contributes to semantic intensification, articulation efficiency, and morphosyntactic harmony. The study emphasizes the need to integrate classical insights with modern linguistic theory for a comprehensive understanding of Arabic. The results aim to enrich Arabic language instruction and advance Arabic linguistic studies both theoretically and practically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and meaning of non-nisbah taṣghīr from the perspective of Sharaf science, and to see how this form is used in the Qur'an and Arabic literature. Taṣghīr is a form of word derivation in Arabic that functions to convey various meanings such as belittling, affection, insults, and admiration. The focus of the study is directed at non-nisbah forms, namely taṣghīr forms that do not refer to affiliation or nisbah, but rather emphasize changes in morphological structure and semantic and pragmatic meaning. The main data comes from the Qur'an version of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, accompanied by references from classical Sharaf books and modern Arabic linguistic literature. The results of the analysis show that non-nisbah taṣghīr has a very complex linguistic and social function and remains relevant in contemporary Arabic language studies. This form is not only a morphological transformation, but also a communication strategy that reflects emotional and cultural relationships in Arab society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of verbs in QS Al-‘Alaq using Arabic semantic and linguistic approaches. The focus of the study is directed at expressing meaning through the patterns of verbs (awzān al-fi‘il) used in this letter. QS Al-‘Alaq as the first revelation is very interesting to study because almost all of its verses use the structure of the number of verbs (verbal sentences), which reflect the dynamics of Islamic preaching messages and spirituality. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study type. The primary data is the text of QS Al-‘Alaq, while the secondary data comes from classical and modern Arabic interpretation and linguistic literature. The analysis technique is carried out descriptively-analytical by studying the form of verbs, determining its wazan, and analyzing its meaning from a semantic perspective. The results of the study show that the verbs in QS Al-‘Alaq use various patterns such as fa‘ala, fa‘‘ala, istaf‘ala, and iftā‘ala, each of which has a certain nuance of meaning. The meaning relations found include synonymy, polysemy, and hyponymy. Theologically, the use of these verbs strengthens the message of revelation about the importance of knowledge, a warning against human arrogance, and an invitation to draw closer to Allah. This study confirms that the verb forms in the Qur'an are not only grammatical structures, but also a means of conveying deep spiritual meaning.

Abstract

This study aims to theoretically examine the sentence structure in Arabic, especially the elements of mubtada and khabar as core components in the number of ismiyyah (nominal sentences). In Arabic grammar, nominal sentences have their own uniqueness because they do not require verbs to convey information. Therefore, understanding the position and function of mubtada and khabar is very crucial for learners and researchers in the fields of Arabic linguistics, tafsir, and Islamic studies. This study uses a qualitative approach of the literature type by examining classical works such as Al-Kitāb by Sibawayh, Mughni al-Labīb by Ibn Hisham, and Al-Kashshāf by Az-Zamakhshari. The study is also strengthened by modern references to bridge theory with contemporary learning needs. The results of the study show that mubtada is generally in the form of isim ma'rifah known by the interlocutor, while khabar functions to complete the meaning with various forms such as mufrad, jumlah, and syibh jumlah. This study also highlights the phenomenon of taqdim wa ta’khir (reversal of order) used in rhetorical contexts. Understanding the mubtada-khabar structure has proven to be important in reading classical Arabic texts, including the Qur’an. Thus, this study contributes to enriching theoretical and applied understanding of Arabic syntax.
