Abstract

Instagram allows users to include captions of up to 2,200 characters beneath posted visual content, including images and videos. These captions provide a space for users to offer explanations, contextual information, or personal viewpoints related to the accompanying visuals. This research analyzes the English translation of people-pleasing behaviors mentioned in Tom Lembong’s Instagram caption. In the target language (English), there are two linguistic units: “reluctance to offend” and “fearing to offend.” These two translation units prioritize the intended meaning over preserving the original terms, which may result in deviations from the source terminology, thereby reflecting the use of paraphrasing. The researcher hopes that the findings of this study will contribute to the field of translation, particularly to the translation of behavioral terms.

Abstract

A transformer is a device that can transfer (channel) and convert electrical energy from one circuit to another at the same frequency based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The transformer to be used in this study is a three-phase delta connection transformer, which can be used to transmit three-phase electrical power to the load, which is connected to the delta-connected load. The performance of the unbalanced load on the open delta transformer, when loaded with an unbalanced load that is not the same size in each phase, causes an increase in current in each phase, so that there is an increase in input power absorbed by the unbalanced load resulting in greater power losses (loses) with reduced efficiency. The purpose of the study is to study the performance of unbalanced loads in delta transformers and The research method is an experimental method in the laboratory, which includes testing on three-phase transformers of delta connection in an unbalanced load state. The measurement results showed that there was a difference in the performance (yield of the discharge) effect of the unbalanced load between the average current with the loss and with the efficiency of the delta transformer.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) juice on the histological structure of colonic mucosal crypts and the number of goblet cells in Wistar rats. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, flavonoids, and vitamin C, which exhibit both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Goblet cells play an essential role in maintaining intestinal homeostasis by producing mucin that protects the mucosa from inflammation. This quasi-experimental study employed a post-test only control group design using 20 male Wistar rats divided into one control group and four treatment groups receiving cayenne pepper juice at doses of 45 mg, 90 mg, 135 mg, and 180 mg daily for seven days. On day seven, the rats were terminated, and colon tissues were processed for histological examination using hematoxylin-eosin staining. Observations were conducted under 40× magnification to measure crypt length and count goblet cells. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test followed by one-way ANOVA. The results showed significant differences among groups (p<0.05). The 90 mg group exhibited the shortest mean crypt length, while the 135 mg group had the lowest number of goblet cells, indicating greater mucosal damage. In contrast, the 180 mg group demonstrated the longest crypt length and highest goblet cell count, suggesting mucosal repair. These findings indicate that cayenne pepper induces dose-dependent effects on colonic mucosa, with higher doses potentially promoting mucosal regeneration.

Abstract

As several AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and AI-driven lesson planners, come into use in the ESL (English as a Second Language) setting, many teachers are eager to utilize them. Yet, absent pertinent professional development (PD), an ESL teacher may find themselves confused in integrating AI fairly and effectively. This paper uses survey data from 239 respondents to examine the current picture of AI-related professional development for ESL teachers. The study investigated teachers' awareness of AI, the frequency of their use of AI tools, whether or not such use was encouraged through training, and interest in further training. The results showed high interest among ESL teachers to learn about AI but virtually no formal training in the area. In fact, more than 80% indicated that their institution did not offer formal professional training in AI or that they did not even know of any. Such results demonstrate a glaring discrepancy between the expectation and realistic preparation of the teachers. The paper recommends that institutions offer professional development programs that are pragmatic, ethical, and aligned with the real needs of ESL teachers.

Abstract

Leadership in higher education increasingly operates within complex governance structures marked by ethical accountability, emotional pressures, and long-term institutional responsibility. While prevailing leadership theories emphasize vision, service orientation, and moral conduct, patience remains underdeveloped as a core leadership construct. This study proposes the Sheik Leadership Model (SLM), an AI-informed, patience-centered leadership framework designed to explain sustainable leadership practices in higher education. Drawing on secondary literature and AI-assisted conceptual synthesis, the model reconceptualizes patience as an active regulatory mechanism that stabilizes ethical governance, emotional intelligence, mentorship effectiveness, and long-term institutional vision. Adopting a qualitative, conceptual research design, the study further enhances theoretical rigor through simple mathematical representation, illustrating patience as both a stabilizing multiplier and a threshold condition distinguishing reactive from sustainable leadership. The study contributes to leadership theory by positioning patience as a foundational mediator that supports decision-making consistency, institutional trust, and long-term sustainability in higher education leadership.

Abstract

This study investigates the feasibility of a hybrid renewable energy system consisting of solar photovoltaic, wind turbine, and battery storage to supply individual street lighting on the Merah Putih Bridge, Ambon. Renewable resource assessment was conducted using measured wind data and NASA solar radiation data for the period 2018–2020. The results indicate that the study location possesses favorable renewable energy potential, with an average wind speed of approximately 5.57 m/s and solar radiation exceeding 4 kWh/m²/day throughout the year. Seasonal analysis demonstrates complementary behavior between solar and wind resources, supporting the suitability of hybrid energy implementation. The hybrid system was designed to supply a 60 W LED lamp operating for 12 hours per day, corresponding to a daily energy demand of 720 Wh. The proposed configuration includes a 200 W photovoltaic module, a 400 W wind turbine, and a 12 V 100 Ah battery. Performance analysis shows that the system can generate approximately 3150 Wh/day, ensuring reliable operation with sufficient energy reserve and more than one day of battery autonomy. Economic evaluation indicates a total investment cost of approximately 1350 USD, with a Levelized Cost of Energy of 0.13 USD/kWh and a payback period of 13.7 years under a local electricity tariff of 0.086 USD/kWh. Lifecycle cost comparison demonstrates that the hybrid system is competitive with grid extension alternatives, particularly when infrastructure costs are considered. Additionally, the system can reduce approximately 0.98 tons of CO₂ emissions annually per lighting unit. The results confirm that the proposed hybrid solar–wind–battery system is technically feasible, environmentally sustainable, and suitable for decentralized bridge lighting applications.

Abstract

Sheep farming plays a crucial role in smallholder livestock systems across tropical regions, including Indonesia, where forage availability and feeding efficiency remain major challenges. Agrostology, as the study of pastures and forage resources, provides essential insights into sustainable feed planning and pasture management strategies. This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to synthesize recent evidence (2020–2025) on forage-based feed calculation and pasture management for sheep. A total of 19 peer-reviewed articles were identified from open-access databases, with inclusion criteria focusing on sheep nutrition, forage productivity, and pasture utilization, supplemented with comparative studies on cattle for broader context. Findings reveal that integrating nutrient requirement models (e.g., NRC, region-specific standards) with locally adapted forage species significantly improves sheep productivity while reducing feeding costs. Moreover, rotational grazing, silvopastoral systems, and mixed forage strategies enhance pasture resilience, nutritive value, and animal performance in tropical environments. Comparative evidence from cattle-based systems further emphasizes the relevance of forage diversity and strategic supplementation in sustaining productivity under seasonal feed fluctuations. Despite these advances, gaps remain in the adoption of participatory feed planning tools, context-specific pasture evaluation, and digital-based feed calculation models for smallholders. This review highlights the importance of combining agrostological approaches with community-based feed management to improve the sustainability of sheep production. The insights are particularly relevant for smallholder systems in regions such as Kuningan, West Java, where forage potential exists but requires structured feed planning.

Abstract

This study evaluates the technical and economic feasibility of micro hydropower development at Taeno Waterfall, Ambon, Indonesia, to support sustainable tourism electrification. Hydrological assessment was conducted using 10-year rainfall data (2014–2023) combined with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) method to estimate streamflow in the absence of long-term discharge measurements. The results indicate an average annual rainfall of approximately 3619.92 mm and an estimated average discharge of 0.70 m³/s. Flow duration curve analysis produced dependable flows of Q50 = 0.63 m³/s, Q80 = 0.35 m³/s, and Q90 = 0.28 m³/s, confirming adequate water availability for year-round micro hydropower operation. Hydraulic analysis showed a gross head of 24 m with a net head of 22.44 m after accounting for friction and minor losses. Using a design discharge of 0.35 m³/s and an overall efficiency of 75%, the estimated electrical power output is approximately 58 kW, classified as micro hydropower. A crossflow turbine was identified as the most suitable technology due to its compatibility with medium-head and moderate-flow conditions, operational flexibility, and cost effectiveness. Estimated electricity demand for tourism facilities is approximately 30 kW peak load with annual consumption of 66 MWh, indicating that the proposed system can fully meet demand with surplus energy for future expansion. Economic analysis using the Indonesian electricity tariff of 0.086 USD/kWh yields an annual benefit of approximately 19,278 USD and a payback period of about 12 years. The findings demonstrate that Taeno Waterfall possesses strong potential for sustainable renewable energy implementation to support tourism development and local energy resilience.
