Abstract

Buton Asphalt (Asbuton) is a natural asphalt found on Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi Province, located 1.5 meters above the ground and has been utilized. This asphalt was first discovered in 1926 by Hetzel, a Dutch geologist, which was then processed by PT Perusahaan Aspal Negara until finally implemented (one of them) by PT Sarana Karya (BUMN). This asphalt is a mixture of bitumen with other mineral materials in the form of rocks. This study aims to determine the performance characteristics of the surface layer mixture using Buton Asphalt on flexible road pavements. There are four variations of aggregate mixtures in this study, namely a mixture with the use of oil asphalt as a comparison and 3 Buton asphalt mixtures with variations in aggregate gradation. The type of mixture used is AC-BC. The use of Buton Asphalt with aggregate gradation based on the middle limit of the specification produces the best Marshall performance with an increase in stability value of 23.92%.

Abstract

The attraction of tourism in Pariaman City is very high for both local and foreign tourists. One of the famous tourism areas in Pariaman City is Gandoriah Beach. Based on data obtained from BPS Pariaman City, the number of tourists visiting in 2020 was 112,278 people. In 2021 the number of tourists increased to 255,561 people. The increase in tourist visits can cause an increase in traffic volume, which can cause congestion, discomfort, and can endanger safety. Therefore, it is necessary to identify what traffic problems occur in the Gandoriah Pariaman Beach tourist area and find the right traffic management solution for the existing problems. The methodology of this study is to analyze traffic performance in the Gandoriah Beach area with indicators of V/C ratio, speed, density, and road service level. The analysis was carried out by analyzing data obtained in the field and grouping existing problems and solving traffic problems appropriately based on existing guidelines. Furthermore, an analysis was also carried out on the capacity of the available parking lot and on-street parking and an analysis of pedestrian facilities. From the analysis results, it can be concluded that the best handling in the Gandoriah Beach area for the problem of road network performance, the right handling is to regulate street vendors, provide no-stop signs, and provide sidewalk barriers. To handle parking problems, namely arranging parking by moving on-street parking and limiting parking hours. While handling the problem of pedestrian facilities is to rebuild and widen the sidewalk and provide decent crossing facilities for pedestrians.

Abstract

The design of the road lane width plays an important role in controlling vehicle speed. Controlled vehicle speed will have an impact on traffic safety. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of traffic lane width on average operating speed. Traffic lane width and vehicle speed on urban road sections were analyzed using 2019 data collected through recording using a video camera. A total of 12,273 instantaneous vehicle speed data were collected on four road sections with similar facilities and traffic conditions but different lane widths in the urban area of Padang City. Data on the relationship between speed and lane width are presented descriptively statistically. To test the difference in average operating speed of each traffic lane width, the ANOVA approach was used. Meanwhile, to test the operating speed between two (2) lane widths, a hypothesis test was carried out at a 95% confidence level. The results of the ANOVA test concluded that there was a significant difference in operating speed with different traffic lane widths. Likewise, the results of the hypothesis test conclusion showed that there was a significant difference in average operating speed between lane widths of 3.25m, 3.50m, 3.75m and 4.15m.

Abstract

Braced cuts are sheet piles built on excavations made for the construction of foundations that are quite deep and the sides of the excavation are vertical. The vertical surface of the excavation requires protection with a temporary sheet pile installation system to avoid collapse that may occur together with the subsidence or collapse of the bearing capacity of the surrounding foundation. In sheet pile excavation work, failures often occur in the work, one of which is the collapse of the sheet pile excavation, this can cause very large financial losses and even claim lives. One of the causes of collapse in sheet pile excavations is because the dimensions of the sheet pile excavation are too slender so that they are unable to withstand active soil pressure when saturated with water. The purpose of this study was to obtain sheet pile and support specifications, the actual depth of sheet pile pile driving, deformation and displacement in the sheet pile and support. From the results of the sheet pile design analysis, the sheet pile cross-section modulus value was obtained as 1575.1 cm3/m, so that the U-type sheet pile specification with a type IIIA cross-section was obtained. The axial capacity of the support is 2542.115 kN, which is greater than the largest force of 1003.975 kN, so that the support capacity can be used. The actual depth of the excavation sheet pile is 9.5 m and the total length of the sheet pile is 19.5 m.

Abstract

Construction projects have three targets that must be achieved, namely accuracy of cost, time and quality. These three targets are influenced by work productivity. However, in the implementation of construction projects there are often delays. So, contractors usually do various ways to catch up on project delays. One of the things that contractors do to speed up work is by adding working hours outside of regular working hours or overtime. When working during regular working hours, there will be different conditions during overtime, causing differences in productivity levels between the two. The amount of productivity produced is influenced by many factors. Factors, such as field conditions and supporting facilities, job skills, age, experience, and field management. This study was conducted using observation and questionnaire methods. The observation method is carried out by measuring the implementation of work during normal and overtime hours and recording activities. Questionnaires were distributed to workers to obtain factors that affect labor productivity. The results obtained were average productivity during normal hours of 2,018 m2/hour and overtime hours of 2,043 m2/hour. The average LUR value during normal working hours is 61.39% and overtime hours is 64.66%. In addition, factors that greatly influence are workers' wages, weather conditions, work area conditions, and lack of rest time.

Abstract

Soil density is closely related to determining the design CBR on road pavements. In this study, soil density testing used standard proctor test methods (ASTM D-698) to obtain the optimum water content (w) and maximum dry weight (γ_d). This study obtained an optimum water content of 24.72% and a maximum dry weight of 1.61 gr/cmᶟ. Meanwhile, for the CBR labor test, the water content obtained from the results of the previous soil density test was used, while for the CBR labor test based on the ASTM D-1883 standard with 3 test samples, namely 10 impacts, 25 impacts and 56 impacts. From the results of the CBR labor obtained at a decrease of 0.1 inches with 10 impacts was 7, for 25 impacts it was 8.74 and 56 impacts it was 9.81. This value is used to determine the design CBR value which is associated with 95% maximum dry weight on soil compaction, the value is 9.6%. This value, if adjusted according to pavement standards, is included in the fairly good category of soil and can be used for sub-base on the pavement of the Eka Jaya Permata II housing complex in Payakumbuh City.
