Masterpiece: Journal of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal published four times a year (January-March; April-June; July-September; and October-December) by CV. Minhaj Pustaka. Masterpiece is intended to be the journal for publishing articles reporting the results of research on Islamic studies and social sciences. Masterpiece provides a forum for academics and professionals to share the latest developments and advances in knowledge and practice of Islamic studies and social sciences, both theory and methods. It aims to foster the exchange of ideas on a range of essential subjects and to provide a stimulus for research in the further development of international perspectives. Abstract

This article examines the role and position of working women from an Islamic perspective, and provides an understanding of how religion views women's involvement in the world of work. This study aims to examine various Islamic teachings that are relevant to the issue of working women outside the home, by considering the rights, obligations, and ethics that women need to adhere to in their professional activities. The results of the study show that Islam gives women the freedom to work, as long as the work does not conflict with sharia principles, such as maintaining honor, not violating religious norms, and prioritizing family responsibilities. Therefore, the role of working women in Islamic society is acceptable, as long as it is in accordance with the limitations taught in Islam and does not harm the welfare of themselves or their families. This article is expected to contribute to enriching insight into women's involvement in the world of work from an Islamic perspective.   Abstrak Artikel ini mengkaji peran dan kedudukan perempuan pekerja dari perspektif Islam, serta memberikan pemahaman tentang bagaimana agama memandang keterlibatan perempuan dalam dunia kerja. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji berbagai ajaran Islam yang relevan dengan persoalan perempuan pekerja di luar rumah, dengan mempertimbangkan hak, kewajiban, dan etika yang perlu dipatuhi perempuan dalam aktivitas profesionalnya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Islam memberikan kebebasan kepada perempuan untuk bekerja, sepanjang pekerjaan tersebut tidak bertentangan dengan prinsip-prinsip syariah, seperti menjaga kehormatan, tidak melanggar norma agama, dan mengutamakan tanggung jawab keluarga. Oleh karena itu, peran perempuan pekerja dalam masyarakat Islam dapat diterima, sepanjang sesuai dengan batasan-batasan yang diajarkan dalam Islam dan tidak merugikan kesejahteraan dirinya maupun keluarganya. Tulisan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi untuk memperkaya wawasan tentang keterlibatan perempuan dalam dunia kerja dari perspektif Islam.

Abstract

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perkembangan Islam Moderat Di Indonesia dalam perspektif pendidikan moderasi beragama. Dalam konteks Bangsa Indonesia yang plural, penguatan moderasi beragama dalam pendidikan menjadi hal yang sangat penting dan strategis, baik pada lingkungan keluarga maupun di luar keluarga, yaitu dalam lingkungan rumah, sekolah, dan masyarakat, untuk melahirkan generasi muslim yang moderat. Data yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini dengan metode kajian pustaka, dari sumber data berupa buku-buku, jurnal-jurnal yang berkaitan, maupun artikel-artikel yang terbit di jurnal nasional, menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pilar–pilar moderasi beragama, yaitu (1) adanya sikap komitmen kebangsaan, (2) adanya sikap toleransi, (3) adanya sikap anti kekerasan, serta (4) adanya sikap akomodatif terhadap nilai–nilai budaya lokal, sangat sesuai dan sejalan dengan prinsip–prinsip dan ruh yang dipraktikan dalam Islam Moderat, yaitu prinsip tawassuth (mengambil jalan tengah), i’tidal (bersikap objektif dan adil), tasamuh (toleran), musyawarah, ishlah (menjaga kebaikan dan kedamaian), qudwah (kepeloporan peran dalam memimpin), muwathohah (cinta tanah air), dan tawazun (berkeseimbangan). Dalam perspektif ini maka perkembangan penerapan nilai–nilai Islam Moderat Di Indonesia sangat dipengaruhi oleh keberhasilan penguatan pelaksanaan pendidikan moderasi beragama Di Indonesia.   Abstract The purpose of this study is to determine the development of Moderate Islam in Indonesia from the perspective of religious moderation education. In the context of the pluralistic Indonesian nation, strengthening religious moderation in education is very important and strategic, both in the family environment and outside the family, namely in the home, school, and community environments, to produce a generation of moderate Muslims. The data analyzed in this study using the literature review method, from data sources in the form of books, related journals, and articles published in national journals, show that the application of the pillars of religious moderation, namely (1) the existence of an attitude of national commitment, (2) the existence of an attitude of tolerance, (3) the existence of an anti-violence attitude, and (4) the existence of an accommodating attitude towards local cultural values, is very appropriate and in line with the principles and spirit practiced in Moderate Islam, namely the principle of tawassuth (taking the middle path), i'tidal (being objective and fair), tasamuh (tolerant), deliberation, ishlah (maintaining goodness and peace), qudwah (pioneering role in leadership), muwathohah (love of the homeland), and tawazun (balanced). In this perspective, the development of the application of the values ​​of Moderate Islam in Indonesia is greatly influenced by the success of strengthening the implementation of religious moderation education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research highlights Muhammadiyah's strategic role in developing entrepreneurship in Tangerang City, which is a center of economic potential with more than 11,000 MSMEs. As a social and religious organization, Muhammadiyah is committed to increasing the economic capacity of the community through various programs such as the Muhammadiyah Trade Center and business training. The emphasis on Islamic values ​​in business activities is also a characteristic, where justice and social responsibility are prioritized. Despite challenges such as limited economic education and access to capital, digitalization efforts offer solutions to these difficulties. Overall, Muhammadiyah has the potential to become the main driver of economic progress and community empowerment in Indonesia.   Abstrak Penelitian ini menyoroti peran strategis Muhammadiyah dalam pengembangan kewirausahaan di Kota Tangerang, yang merupakan pusat potensi ekonomi dengan lebih dari 11.000 UMKM. Sebagai organisasi sosial dan keagamaan, Muhammadiyah berkomitmen untuk meningkatkan kapasitas ekonomi masyarakat melalui berbagai program seperti Muhammadiyah Trade Center dan pelatihan bisnis. Penekanan pada nilai-nilai Islam dalam kegiatan usaha juga menjadi ciri khas, di mana keadilan dan tanggung jawab sosial diutamakan. Meskipun menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan pendidikan ekonomi dan akses modal, upaya digitalisasi menawarkan solusi untuk kesulitan ini. Secara keseluruhan, Muhammadiyah berpotensi menjadi penggerak utama kemajuan ekonomi dan pemberdayaan masyarakat di Indonesia.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah, as a community organization with the largest assets in Indonesia, plays a significant role in supporting the development of Islamic finance through the Muhammadiyah Charity (AUM). The Qur'an and Hadith are the main guidelines for Muhammadiyah in carrying out its Charity. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of Muhammadiyah's contribution to the development of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia. This research method uses a literature study approach. The results of this study show that Muhammadiyah contributes to the development of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia. This can be seen from Muhammadiyah's role in distributing its assets to Islamic banks in Indonesia, as well as the use of AUM such as BTM, Insurance, and waqf for channeling funds to the community to improve the development of the Islamic economy and finance in Indonesia. Muhammadiyah's challenges in developing Islamic financial businesses include institutional development, socialization, office networks, improving the quality of human resources, and adding capital to support its sustainability and competitiveness.   Abstrak Muhammadiyah, sebagai organisasi masyarakat dengan aset terbesar di Indonesia, berperan signifikan dalam mendukung perkembangan keuangan syariah melalui Amal Usaha Muhammadiyah (AUM). Al-Qur’an dan Hadist adalah pedoman utama Muhammadiyah dalam menjalankan Amal usahanya. Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk memberikan gambaran kontribusi Muhammadiyah dalam perkembangan lembaga keuangan syariah di Indonesia. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi literatur. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan Muhammadiyah berkontribusi pada perkembangan lembaga keuangan syariah di Indonesia, Hal itu bisa dilihat peran Muhammadiyah dalam membagi asetnya ke bank – bank syariah di Indonesia, serta pemanfaatan AUM seperti BTM, Asuransi, dan wakaf untuk penyaluran dana kepada masyarakat guna meningkatkan perkembangan ekonomi dan keuangan syariah di Indonesia. Tantangan Muhammadiyah dalam mengembangkan usaha keuangan syariah mencakup pengembangan kelembagaan, sosialisasi, jaringan kantor, peningkatan kualitas SDM, dan penambahan modal untuk mendukung keberlanjutan dan daya saingnya.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Islamic organizations in the practice of combating online gambling practices in Indonesia. Online gambling has become a major problem that has an impact on financial stability, mental health, and moral integrity of the community. This study explores the strategies and programs of MPM Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, which include education, skills training, mentoring services, character building and partnerships with the government. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show that MPM Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama have succeeded in increasing public awareness of the dangers of online gambling and offering positive options to reduce dependence on gambling. A structured approach to addressing this problem is also provided through the formation of a special task force. To maintain the sustainability and success of this program in the long term, it is essential to collaborate with various parties   Abstrak Studi ini menyelidiki peran organisasi islam dalam praktik menanggulangi praktik judi online di Indonesia. Perjudian online telah berkembang menjadi masalah besar yang berdampak pada stabilitas keuangan, kesehatan mental, dan integritas moral masyarakat. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi strategi dan program MPM Muhammadiyah dan Nahdlatul Ulama, yang mencakup pendidikan, pelatihan keterampilan, layanan pendampingan, pembentukan karakter dan kemitraan dengan pemerintah. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa MPM Muhammadiyah dan Nahdlatul Ulama berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan bahaya perjudian online dan menawarkan opsi positif untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada perjudian. Pendekatan terstruktur untuk menangani masalah ini juga diberikan melalui pembentukan satuan tugas khusus. Untuk menjaga keberlanjutan dan keberhasilan program ini dalam jangka panjang, sangat penting untuk bekerja sama dengan berbagai pihak.

Abstract

The digital era has brought major transformations to the Islamic education and da'wah system in Indonesia. Muhammadiyah, as one of the largest modernist Islamic organizations in the country, plays a crucial role in responding to these changes through educational reform (tajdid). This study aims to explore the role and challenges of Muhammadiyah in navigating the digital age, particularly in the context of Islamic education. A normative research method was employed, utilizing literature review and policy analysis. The findings indicate that Muhammadiyah has embraced digital technology through online learning, digital platforms, and social media da'wah. However, challenges remain, including limited digital competence among educators, the need for curriculum reform, and the negative moral impact of digital media on youth. Strategies such as strengthening human resources, technology training, and cross-sector collaboration have been implemented. With a progressive and Islamically grounded approach, Muhammadiyah has the potential to become a leading force in adaptive and excellent Islamic education in the digital era.

Abstract

 The identity of Muhammadiyah as a modern movement cannot be separated from the conceptualization produced in the field of education. The colonial era which is identical with the dichotomy of education and science, began to be reduced by the Muhammadiyah movement that carries scientific integration, a balance between science and religion and also as the concern expression of KH. Ahmad Dahlan towards education. The historicity of Muhammadiyah as an educational movement can be referred to the formulations of the purpose of the Muhammadiyah's presence started from 1921 until 1971 which describe education as the basis for its movements and actions. Muhammadiyah wants to provide a new perspective namely education is holistic integrative, not in a partial dichotomous area, which can contribute to the development and progress of the nation.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has many educational histories, especially regarding the history of the development and renewal of Islam. Of the many organizations in Indonesia, the Muhammadiyah movement is one of the largest Islamic movement organizations in Indonesia. With the meaning that in this word Muhammadiyah separately implies as followers of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. On this occasion, research was conducted to find out how Muhammadiyah is a social and economic movement. This type of research is descriptive research, research that is carried out intensively, in detail, and in depth on an individual, institution or certain symptoms with a narrow area or subject. This research was conducted using interviews and documentation methods. The results obtained show that Muhammadiyah is guided by the Al-Qur'an precisely in surah Al-Ma'un as the basis for running in the social realm. Muhammadiyah is an organization that is not only engaged in one field. This can be seen by the existence of institutions under the economic sector that are useful for helping the welfare of Muhammadiyah members and the ummah.

Abstract

The  aim  of  this  research  is  to  describe  the  social  and  health movements  carried  out  by  Muhammadiyah  as  a  leadingIslamic   organization   in   Indonesia.   This   research   uses   a qualitative  methodology  with  a  pushtakaan  approach.  The research  results  show  that  Muhammadiyah's  contribution  to the  social  sciences  of  Indonesian  society  is  largely  divided into   three   areas:   socialsciences,   education,   and   modern schools.   This   health   service   sector   consists   of   several hospitals,  maternity  homes,  polyclinics,  and  similar  areas  of social  assistance,  but  also  orphanages,  nursing  homes,  and other charitable assistance.

Abstract

Character education has become a major concern in addressing the moral and social crises of the modern era. Muhammadiyah, as one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, holds a strong commitment to building a character-based education system deeply integrated with Islamic values. This study aims to explore the educational philosophy of character formation according to KH. Ahmad Dahlan, the founder of Muhammadiyah, and its relevance to contemporary educational challenges. The method used is a literature review by analyzing primary and secondary sources including books, academic journals, and historical documents related to KH. Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts. The findings reveal that KH. Ahmad Dahlan developed a holistic and integrative educational concept that emphasizes not only cognitive development but also spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. He stressed the importance of integrating religious and general sciences, the moral example of teachers, the cultivation of akhlaqul karimah (noble character), and the practical application of values in students' lives. This concept is implemented through an integrated curriculum, extracurricular activities, value-based school environments, and the utilization of digital technology in strengthening character education. KH. Ahmad Dahlan’s ideas remain highly relevant in addressing today’s educational issues, such as identity crises, moral degradation, radicalism, gender inequality, and the need for 21st-century skills. His model of character education aims to form religious, intelligent, independent, and socially responsible individuals. With a progressive and contextual approach, his educational philosophy serves as a foundational pillar for developing an adaptive, solution-oriented, and future-focused Islamic education system.
