Masterpiece: Journal of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal published four times a year (January-March; April-June; July-September; and October-December) by CV. Minhaj Pustaka. Masterpiece is intended to be the journal for publishing articles reporting the results of research on Islamic studies and social sciences. Masterpiece provides a forum for academics and professionals to share the latest developments and advances in knowledge and practice of Islamic studies and social sciences, both theory and methods. It aims to foster the exchange of ideas on a range of essential subjects and to provide a stimulus for research in the further development of international perspectives. Abstract

This paper discusses how Muhammadiyah carries out its Islamic mission through education. Since its inception, Muhammadiyah has viewed education as an important means to spread enlightening Islamic teachings and answer the challenges of the times. Through the da'wah bil hal approach, Muhammadiyah not only conveys Islamic values ​​verbally or in writing, but also through real actions such as establishing schools, hospitals, and other social institutions. The education developed by Muhammadiyah combines religious knowledge and general knowledge, with the aim of producing a generation that is faithful, moral, and intellectually capable. This study uses a literature study method to examine Muhammadiyah's contribution in the field of education and its impact on society. The results of the study show that Muhammadiyah's educational approach has succeeded in creating an effective, progressive, and relevant da'wah model to date. Abstrak Tulisan ini membahas bagaimana Muhammadiyah menjalankan misi dakwah Islam melalui jalur pendidikan. Sejak awal berdirinya, Muhammadiyah telah memandang pendidikan sebagai sarana penting untuk menyebarkan ajaran Islam yang mencerahkan dan menjawab tantangan zaman. Melalui pendekatan dakwah bil hal, Muhammadiyah tidak hanya menyampaikan nilai-nilai Islam secara lisan atau tulisan, tetapi juga melalui tindakan nyata seperti pendirian sekolah, rumah sakit, dan lembaga sosial lainnya. Pendidikan yang dikembangkan Muhammadiyah memadukan ilmu agama dan ilmu umum, dengan tujuan mencetak generasi yang beriman, berakhlak, dan cakap secara intelektual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka untuk menelaah kontribusi Muhammadiyah dalam bidang pendidikan dan dampaknya terhadap masyarakat. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pendidikan Muhammadiyah telah berhasil menciptakan model dakwah yang efektif, progresif, dan relevan hingga saat ini.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-economic contribution of Muhammadiyah in promoting community self-reliance through a qualitative literature-based approach. Data were derived from secondary literature spanning 2020-2025, including accredited journals, academic books, and institutional documents analyzed thematically. The research identifies three main findings: first, economic empowerment grounded in Islamic values such as ta'awun and social justice; second, institutional strengthening through Islamic microfinance institutions (BMT) and sharia cooperatives; third, challenges in integrating business enterprises and adopting digital technology. Theoretically, this study enriches the discourse on Islamic Social Capital within religious organizations, demonstrating the operationalization of spiritual values into a framework for community-based economic development. Practical implications include the need for institutional synergy, optimization of the Economic Council, and digitalization of governance. Further empirical research is recommended to validate the model contextually.   Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji kontribusi sosial-ekonomi Muhammadiyah dalam mendorong kemandirian umat melalui pendekatan kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka. Data bersumber dari literatur sekunder periode 2020-2025, meliputi jurnal terakreditasi, buku akademik, dan dokumen kelembagaan yang dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi tiga temuan utama: pertama, pemberdayaan ekonomi berlandaskan nilai Islam seperti ta'awun dan keadilan sosial; kedua, penguatan kelembagaan melalui BMT dan koperasi syariah; ketiga, tantangan integrasi amal usaha dan adopsi teknologi digital. Secara teoretis, studi ini memperkaya diskursus Islamic Social Capital dalam konteks organisasi keagamaan, menunjukkan operasionalisasi nilai spiritual menjadi kerangka pembangunan ekonomi berbasis komunitas. Implikasi praktis mencakup perlunya sinergi kelembagaan, optimalisasi Majelis Ekonomi, dan digitalisasi tata kelola. Penelitian lanjutan dengan pendekatan empiris direkomendasikan untuk validasi model secara kontekstual.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of impaired growth in children caused by chronic malnutrition, recurrent infections, and inadequate stimulation. This issue not only affects a child's physical development but also hinders their cognitive and intellectual growth, ultimately impacting their future quality of life and productivity. From an Islamic perspective, safeguarding children's health and intelligence is a parental and societal responsibility, aligned with the principles of Maqasid al-Sharia, particularly the preservation of progeny (hifzh al-nasl) and intellect (hifzh al-'aql). This article examines the effects of stunting on children's intellectual development and proposes preventive solutions based on Islamic teachings. These solutions include ensuring proper nutrition from pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding, parenting practices guided by religious principles, and community support in preventing stunting. The Islamic approach to addressing stunting emphasizes the balance between physical, spiritual, and social aspects, enabling children to thrive holistically. Therefore, stunting prevention is not just an individual duty but also a collective responsibility in nurturing a healthy, intelligent, and morally upright generation in accordance with Islamic values. Abstrak Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak yang disebabkan oleh kekurangan gizi kronis, infeksi berulang, dan stimulasi yang tidak memadai. Masalah ini tidak hanya berdampak pada pertumbuhan fisik anak tetapi juga menghambat perkembangan kognitif dan kecerdasannya, yang pada akhirnya dapat memengaruhi kualitas hidup dan produktivitasnya di masa depan. Dalam perspektif Islam, menjaga kesehatan dan kecerdasan anak merupakan tanggung jawab orang tua dan masyarakat selaras dengan prinsip Maqashid Syariah, khususnya dalam menjaga keturunan (hifzh al-nasl) dan akal (hifzh al-'aql). Artikel ini mengkaji dampak stunting terhadap perkembangan intelektual anak serta menawarkan solusi pencegahan berbasis nilai-nilai Islam. Solusi tersebut mencakup pemenuhan gizi yang baik sejak masa kehamilan, pemberian ASI eksklusif, pola asuh yang sesuai dengan tuntunan agama, serta peran komunitas dalam mendukung keluarga untuk mencegah stunting. Pendekatan Islami dalam penanganan stunting menekankan pentingnya keseimbangan antara aspek fisik, spiritual, dan sosial, sehingga anak dapat tumbuh optimal secara jasmani dan rohani. Dengan demikian, upaya pencegahan stunting tidak hanya menjadi tanggung jawab individu, tetapi juga bagian dari amanah kolektif dalam mewujudkan generasi yang sehat, cerdas, dan berkualitas sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the Islamic organization Muhammadiyah in strengthening the character of Generation Z amid the challenges of digital disruption and value transformation. The declining internalization of Islamic values among youth—particularly those born in the digital ecosystem—forms the critical background of this research. Employing a qualitative approach using a narrative literature study, this research analyzes social, ideological, and cultural narratives found in academic texts, institutional reports, and Muhammadiyah’s dakwah literature published between 2020 and 2025. Data were collected through systematic document analysis from scholarly journals, books, official speeches, and relevant prior studies, selected using purposive sampling and expanded via snowball literature tracking. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis following the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, display, and verification. The findings reveal three key themes: (1) the relevance of religious values within Generation Z’s digital reality, (2) the importance of revitalizing community-based character education, and (3) ideological-institutional barriers in the internalization of values. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the need for a narrative-participatory approach in contextual Islamic character education and offers practical implications for developing digital dakwah curricula and youth empowerment policies within Muhammadiyah. It also suggests further research using digital ethnography to examine how young Muslims engage with religious practices in virtual spaces. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi secara mendalam peran organisasi keagamaan Muhammadiyah dalam penguatan karakter Generasi Z di tengah tantangan era digital dan disrupsi nilai. Fenomena melemahnya internalisasi nilai keislaman di kalangan generasi muda, khususnya mereka yang lahir dalam ekosistem digital, menjadi latar belakang penting dari studi ini. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis studi naratif berbasis literatur, penelitian ini menelaah narasi sosial, ideologis, dan kultural yang terkandung dalam dokumen akademik, laporan kelembagaan, dan teks dakwah Muhammadiyah yang diterbitkan dalam rentang 2020–2025. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi dokumenter sistematis yang diperoleh dari jurnal ilmiah, buku, pidato resmi, dan hasil penelitian relevan lainnya, yang dipilih secara purposive dan diperluas melalui teknik snowball literature tracking. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan tematik menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman, meliputi proses reduksi data, penyajian, dan verifikasi. Temuan utama menunjukkan tiga tema kunci: (1) relevansi nilai keagamaan dengan realitas digital Generasi Z, (2) pentingnya revitalisasi pendidikan karakter berbasis komunitas, dan (3) hambatan ideologis-institusional dalam internalisasi nilai. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman teoritis tentang pentingnya pendekatan naratif-partisipatif dalam pendidikan karakter keagamaan yang kontekstual, serta menawarkan implikasi praktis bagi pengembangan kurikulum dakwah digital dan kebijakan pembinaan generasi muda di lingkungan Muhammadiyah. Studi ini juga menyarankan perlunya penelitian lanjutan dengan pendekatan etnografi digital untuk menggali lebih jauh praktik keberagamaan generasi muda di ruang virtual.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine involvement of the United States (US) in the Iran-Israel conflict. This conflict was triggered by the long-standing feud between Iran and Israel that has continued to heat up since the Iranian Revolution in 1979. The key event that became the study point of this research was the airstrike carried out by the United state (US) in 2020 that killed General Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran's Quds force, as well as Iran's counterattack that resulted in increased tension in the Middle East. Until 2025, the conflict continued with Iran launching drone and missile attacks on Israel in retaliation for attacks on Iranian diplomatic facilities. The United States (US) as Israel's main ally actively seeks to inhibit Iran's influence in the Middle East. The United States (US) provides military and diplomatic support to Israel to counter Iran's ambitions, including by supporting military operations in areas controlled by Iranian proxy militias such as in Syria and Iraq. This research uses Regional Hegemony theory and Rational Choice theory to analyze United States (US) interests in the Iran-Israel conflict in the region. Abstrak Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisis peran dan kepentingan amerika serikat (AS) dalam konflik Iran-Israel. Konflik ini dipicu oleh perseteruan berkepanjangan antara Iran dan Israel yang terus memanas sejak Revolusi Iran tahun 1979. Peristiwa penting yang menjadi titik kajian pada penelitian ini adalah serangan udara yang dilakukan oleh AS pada tahun 2020 yang menewaskan Jenderal Qassem Soleimani, pemimpin pasukan Quds Iran, serta serangan balasan Iran yang mengakibatkan ketegangan di Timur Tengah semakin meningkat. Hingga tahun 2025, konflik ini terus berlanjut dengan Iran melancarkan serangan drone dan rudal ke Israel sebagai balasan atas serangan yang dilakukan pada fasilitas diplomatik Iran. Amerika Serikat (AS) sebagai sekutu utama Israel secara aktif berupaya menghambat pengaruh Iran di Timur Tengah. Amerika Serikat (AS) memberikan dukungan militer dan diplomatik kepada Israel untuk melawan ambisi Iran, termasuk dengan cara mendukung operasi militer di wilayah-wilayah yang dikuasai oleh milisi proksi Iran seperti di Suriah dan Irak. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Hegemoni Regional dan teori Rational Choice dalam menganalisis kepentingan Amerika Serikat (AS) dalam konflik Iran-Israel di kawasan ini.
