Abstract

Diarrhea is a condition in which a person defecates mushy or liquid consistency, can be water only and the frequency is more (usually three or more) in a day. Improper handling and treatment of diarrhea can cause complications such as dehydration and malnutrition. This final project aims to measure the level of knowledge of mothers about diarrhea self-medication in children in Plumbungan, Dukuh Village, Boyolali Regency. This study is a quantitative descriptive research method with cross sectional data collection. The sampling total 42 samples were used for the sampling method. Retrieval of research data by filling out a questionnaire As a results the characteristics of respondents at the age of 26-35 years were mostly 45%. The most dominant last education was high school as much as 69%, and the most jobs were as housewives (IRT) as much as 43%. Mother's level of knowledge about diarrhea is categorized as good as much as 69%, sufficient category as much as 31%. The good level of self-medication behavior in children with diarrhea is 90%, 10% is sufficient. Overall, the average level of knowledge of mothers shows that mothers have good knowledge and behavior in dealing with children with diarrhea

Abstract

The Chinese betel plant is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Piperaceae family. The Chinese betel plant (Peperomia pellucida L. Kunth) contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins which help the wound healing process. This study aims to determine the physical quality of Chinese betel gel preparations and the effect of variations in carbopol concentrations as a gelling agent on the physical properties of Chinese betel extract gel. Chinese betel leaf extraction was carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. Gels were made into three formulas with variations in carbopol concentrations, namely F1 (0,5%), F2 (1%), and F3 (2%). The gel preparations were then subjected to physical tests including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, spreadability, and viscosity. The homogeneity and organoleptic test results for the three gel formulas were homogeneous, had a blackgreen color, semi-solid form, and had a characteristic odor of the extract. The three gel formulas had a pH of 4,93-5,48, adhesion between 1,13-2,14 seconds, and spreadability ranging from 5,04-6,09 cm. The results of the viscosity test for the three formulas were in the range of 3.913,33-3.915 cPss. Based on the SPSS test results, variations in carbopol concentrations had no significant effect on adhesion, gel spreadability, pH and gel viscosity.

Abstract

MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is one of the gram-positive bacteria that can cause pneumonia. The pegagan plant (Centella asiatica (L.) Urb.) is currently being planted by many people. pegagan leaves have antibacterial activity against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus mutans, and Escherichia coli. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is antibacterial activity in pegagan leaves against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The extraction of pegagan leaf simplisia was carried out by the maceration method. The extract was made with 3 concentrations: 20% b/v, 40% b/v, and 80% b/v. The research method of antibacterial activity testing was carried out by disk diffusion. In this study, the positive control was vancomycin. As for the negative control, a 10% DMSO solution was used. In this study, it was found that the results of pegagan leaf extract had an average inhibition of 20% concentration of 8.75 mm or resistant, 40% concentration of 10.58 mm or resistant, 60% concentration of 11.5 mm or resistant, and a positive control of 18.91 mm or intermediate against MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria.

Abstract

Turi leaves contain flavonoids, saponins and tannins which can function as Propionibacterium acnes antibacterials so that they can be used to make peel-off gel masks. PVA in a peel off gel mask functions as a gelling agent and film forming agent. The aim of the study was to determine the formulation of turi leaf extract peel off gel masks, physical evaluation of the preparation, and to determine the effect of variations in PVA concentration on the physical properties of the preparation. This study uses a descriptive experimental method. The simplicia extraction method uses maceration with a ratio of turi leaf simplicia and 96% ethanol (1:7). Variations in the concentration of PVA used were 10%, 13%, 16%. Each formula was subjected to organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests,adhesion tests, spreadability tests, drying time tests and viscosity tests. The results showed that the peel off gel mask preparations on F1, F2, F3 were respectively dark green in color, had a distinctive odor of turi leaf extract, slightly runny, slightly thick and viscous, had a homogeneous preparation. pH test results 5,75±0,39; 5,88±0,30; 6,17±0,32. Stickiness test results 19,69±5,89 seconds; 36,11±0,65 seconds; 54,02±3,11 seconds. Spreadability test results 5,40± 0,49 cm; 4,57±0,28 cm; 3,70±0,22 cm. Drying time test results 20,06±1,49 minutes; 18,23±1,01 minutes; 16,53±0,73 minutes. Viscosity test results 21173±3609,32 cPs; 48917,33±1,15 cPs; 48938±13,58 cPs. The results of the physical tests were followed by the One Way Anova and Kruskal Wallis statistical tests, showing that variations in PVA concentration significantly affected the physical test results of adhesion, spreadability, viscosity and drying time, but did not significantly affect the pH value.

Abstract

Drugs are used to cure the disease that is being suffered by the patient. However, theres people who not know the actual use drugs tht are good and right, so that errors in the use of drugs often occur. DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Save, Discard) is a Drug Awareness Family Movement Program created by the Indonesian Pharmacist Association in achieving public understanding and awareness of the correct use of drugs (Indonesian Pharmacist Association, 2014). The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about DAGUSIBU as a self-medication effort among the people of Dukuh Poko RT 02 RW 05 Duwet Village, Wonosari, Klaten. This type of research is a non-experimental research with a descriptive survey design of the community in Dukuh Poko RT 02 RW 05 Duwet Village, Wonosari, Klaten. The number of samples used were 86 respondents and the data collection technique used the total sampling method. The data obtained is the percentage of each answer to the questionnaire that has been filled in by the respondent. Based on the results of data processing, it was obtained that the level of public knowledge was in the good category, 57 (66%), 23 (27%) had sufficient knowledge, and 6 (7%) lacked knowledge. So it can be concluded that the average level of knowledge about DAGUSIBU medicine in the Dukuh Poko RT 02 RW 05 community has a good level of knowledge (80%).

Abstract

Pengobatan tradisional (OT) merupakan salah satu warisan budaya bangsa Indonesia yang dimanfaatkan untuk mencegah dan mengobati penyakit. Salah satu tanaman yang sering dimanfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional oleh masyarakat adalah ubi ungu (Ipomoea batatas L.). Ubi jalar ungu merupakan jenis ubi jalar yang paling banyak mengandung pigmen dan senyawa flavonoid. Pigmen antosianin dan senyawa flavonoid yang diekstraksi dari ubi jalar ungu diduga dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif eksperimen. Ekstrak ubi jalar ungu diperoleh dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Formulasi body scrub ekstrak ubi jalar ungu dibuat dengan variasi asam stearat dengan konsentrasi 10%, 12%, dan 14%. Evaluasi fisik sediaan lulur meliputi uji organoleptik, uji homogenitas, uji pH, uji waktu pengeringan, uji daya sebar, uji daya lekat dan uji hedonik. Hasil evaluasi fisik lulur pada ketiga formula yaitu pada F1, F2 dan F3 berturut-turut, uji organoleptik warna dan bau sama. Uji homogenitas dengan butiran kasar. Uji daya rekat 1,37±0,11; 1,48 ± 0,13 dan 1,55 ± 0,14. Uji daya sebar 3,59±0,08; 3,40 ± 0,37 dan 3,50 ± 0,14. uji waktu kering 18,37±0,87; 16,02 ± 1,09 dan 15,25 ± 0,12. Uji hedonik diperoleh formula 2 yang dianggap terbaik dari ketiga kriteria penilaian oleh responden. Berdasarkan hasil SPPS dengan uji Kruskal-Wallis dapat disimpulkan bahwa variasi konsentrasi pengemulsi asam stearat tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap evaluasi fisik.

Abstract

Bekicot (Achatina fulica) mengandung achasin yang dapat digunakan sebagai anti jerawat. Untuk memudahkan penggunaannya dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan gel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui formulasi dan evaluasi gel lendir bekicot (Achatina Fulica) dengan variasi konsentrasi karbopol dan pembentuk gel CMC-Na. sebagai pembentuk gel terhadap sifat fisik sediaan gel lendir bekicot (Achatina Fulica). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Sediaan gel dibuat menggunakan bahan aktif lendir bekicot (Achatina Fulica) dengan berbagai konsentrasi gelling agent karbopol 1%, karbopol: CMC-Na 0,5%: 0,5%, dan CMC-Na 1%. Hasil uji organoleptik sediaan gel F1 berwarna putih, F2 berwarna putih pekat, F3 bening. Uji homogenitas menunjukkan sediaan homogen, uji pH sediaan gel F1= 3,86±0,030; F2= 4,87±0,15; F3= 6,90±0,08, F1 dan F2 tidak memenuhi syarat pH kulit 4,5-6,5. Uji adhesi F1= 1,03±0,01 detik; F2= 1,13±0,015 detik; F3= 1,07±0,01 tidak sesuai dengan parameter persyaratan uji adhesi. Uji daya sebar F1= 5,41±0,28; F2= 4,75±0,25; dan F3= 1,07±0,01. F3 memenuhi syarat uji daya sebar yaitu 5-7cm, uji viskositas F= 13070 ±116; F2= 35889±163; F3= 3530±133. F1 dan F2 memenuhi persyaratan viskositas yaitu 2000-4000 cps. Hasil uji hedonik yang paling disukai panelis adalah F3. Berdasarkan hasil SPSS menggunakan metode One Way Anova dan kruskall-wallis dapat dikatakan bahwa variasi gelling agent karbopol dan CMC-Na berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil evaluasi fisik daya sebar, namun tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap viskositas, adhesi, dan pH.
