Abstract

Leaf jati (Tectona grandis L.f.) has the pigment anthocyanin which product a red color. Anthocyanin pigments are a group of flavonoid pigments. The purpose of this study was to formulate and physically evaluate lip cream preparations with natural dyes from leaf jati extract (Tectona grandis L.f.). Anthocyanin extraction was carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. Lip cream was made into three formulas with different concentrations of extract leaf jati by 5%,10%,and 15%. The lip cream in each formula was subjected to physical tests including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, adhesion test, dispersion test, and hedonic test. The results of the organoleptic test of the three formulas have different colors it is pink to red because variation of leaf jati extract used. The results of the homogeneity test showed that the three formulas are homogeneous. The results of the pH test of the three formulas are 4, indicating that all formulas had met the lip pH requirements of 3.8-4.7. The results of the adhesion test are F1=2,42±0,04;F2=3.21±0,03; and F3=4.26±0,02, these results show that only F3 meets the requirements because it is more than 4 seconds. The results of the dispersion test are F1=5.35±0,02;F2=5,21±0,04;and F3=5,10±0,03, the result is qualified because the result is 5-7 cm. The result of the preference test that was most preferred based on color, aroma, moisture, and texture was formula 2. Based on the results of the One Way Anova and Kruskal Wallis tests, there were significant differences in adhesion and dispersion

Abstract

MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is one of the gram-positive bacteria that can cause pneumonia. The pegagan plant (Centella asiatica (L.) Urb.) is currently being planted by many people. pegagan leaves have antibacterial activity against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus mutans, and Escherichia coli. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is antibacterial activity in pegagan leaves against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The extraction of pegagan leaf simplisia was carried out by the maceration method. The extract was made with 3 concentrations: 20% b/v, 40% b/v, and 80% b/v. The research method of antibacterial activity testing was carried out by disk diffusion. In this study, the positive control was vancomycin. As for the negative control, a 10% DMSO solution was used. In this study, it was found that the results of pegagan leaf extract had an average inhibition of 20% concentration of 8.75 mm or resistant, 40% concentration of 10.58 mm or resistant, 60% concentration of 11.5 mm or resistant, and a positive control of 18.91 mm or intermediate against MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria.

Abstract

Drugs are used to cure the disease that is being suffered by the patient. However, theres people who not know the actual use drugs tht are good and right, so that errors in the use of drugs often occur. DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Save, Discard) is a Drug Awareness Family Movement Program created by the Indonesian Pharmacist Association in achieving public understanding and awareness of the correct use of drugs (Indonesian Pharmacist Association, 2014). The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about DAGUSIBU as a self-medication effort among the people of Dukuh Poko RT 02 RW 05 Duwet Village, Wonosari, Klaten. This type of research is a non-experimental research with a descriptive survey design of the community in Dukuh Poko RT 02 RW 05 Duwet Village, Wonosari, Klaten. The number of samples used were 86 respondents and the data collection technique used the total sampling method. The data obtained is the percentage of each answer to the questionnaire that has been filled in by the respondent. Based on the results of data processing, it was obtained that the level of public knowledge was in the good category, 57 (66%), 23 (27%) had sufficient knowledge, and 6 (7%) lacked knowledge. So it can be concluded that the average level of knowledge about DAGUSIBU medicine in the Dukuh Poko RT 02 RW 05 community has a good level of knowledge (80%).

Abstract

Cocoa shells are waste from the plantation industry, with a fairly good potential source of energy and protein. The ethanol extract of cocoa shells contains alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, and tannins. Cocoa shell extract has strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 17.21 ppm and has sunscreen activity. This study aimed to determine the formulation and physical test of a peel-off gel mask with cocoa shell extract (Theobroma cacao L) and to determine its effect. The research method used was an experimental method with variations in the concentration of a combination of HPMC and PVA of 2%:10%, 3%:9%, 4%:8%, 5%:7%, and 0%:12%. The physical tests used on the peel-off gel mask with cocoa shell extract (Theobroma cacao L) included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, drying time, adhesiveness, viscosity, and cycling tests. Based on the results of the research carried out, peel-off gel mask has the characteristics of a brown color, a distinctive extract smell and a thick texture, homogeneous for F1 and F5, and not homogeneous for F2, F3, and F4, sticking force 4.53±0.24 seconds; 5.45±0.36 seconds; 8.94±0.64 seconds; 11.23±0.72 seconds; 3.87±0.70 seconds; spreadability 3.99 ± 0.18 cm; 3.33±0.31 cm; 3.47±0.78 cm; 3.32±0.50 cm; 3.05±0.42 cm; pH 6.17 ± 0.10; 6.16±0.03; 6.15±0.10; 6.11±0.05; 6.42±0.03; viscosity 19481.10±201.10; 20165.50±1.05; 20165.73±2.02; 20182.53±9.47; 14618.40±158.48. The physical stability of the gel mask preparations after treatment showed that the results of the peel-off gel mask preparations, F1 and F5, were stable.
