Abstract

This research aims to improve speaking skills through the show and tell method of grade IV students of SD Negeri 204/IV Jambi City. This research is a type of Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subject of the study was grade IV students of SD Negeri 204/IV Jambi City which amounted to 31 students. The data collection methods used are observation, tests, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used in this study are qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive. The learning action in cycle I did not experience obstacles in linguistic aspects such as vocabulary/expressions or diction. And non-linguistic aspects that include courage and attitude. Actions in cycle II have increased both in linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. The linguistic aspect includes speech, vocabulary/diction, and sentence determination. Non-linguistic aspects include fluency, mastery of material, courage and attitude. The improvement is shown by an increase in the value of students' speaking skills. The increase that occurred was the average score of student pre-action of 63.9 with a percentage of 19% completion, the average score in the first cycle of students was 70.3 with a percentage of completeness of 55%, the percentage of speaking skills action through the show and tell method was 57%, the average evaluation in cycle II was 78.8 with a percentage of 90% completeness. And this can also be seen from the percentage of speaking skills actions through the show and tell method, which is 80%.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of the principal as a manager in implementation of the Independent Curriculum at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darussalam Jelutung, Jambi City. The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that: 1) The school principal has a significant role starting from planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the curriculum. 2) There are obstacles for the principal in carrying out his role as a manager in implementing the Independent Curriculum, namely that it takes a long time and is not easy for the principal to study the Independent Curriculum, time constraints and the physical condition of the principal as well as teacher motivation and understanding that need to be improved. 3) The school principal takes proactive steps to resolve these obstacles, such as increasing the principal's personal understanding, carry out rescheduling and time management, as well facilitating teachers in increasing their understanding and professionalism through training, participating in routine KKG activities, and direct coaching.

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR), aimed at improving the learning motivation of class IX A students in the subject of Islamic Cultural History at the An-Nur Tangkit Muaro Jambi Islamic Junior High School by using Video Based Learning (VBL) media. This research was conducted in two cycles and four stages, including: (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation, (4) reflection. Data were obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research were class IX A students at the An-Nur Tangkit Muaro Jambi Islamic Junior High School, totaling 20 students. In the application of this Video Based Learning media, there was an increase in student learning motivation in each cycle. The value of student learning motivation in cycle I was 47.4% with a moderate category, and the value of student learning motivation in cycle II was 66.9% with a high category. Which means that through the use of Video Based Learning (VBL) media, student learning motivation can be improved.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the application of the Free Expression method in improving the learning process and increasing students' creativity in Class II Fine Arts Learning at State Elementary School 165/VIII Sumber Arum, Tebo Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. This research includes planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. The subjects of this research were students in class II of State Elementary School 165/VIII Sumber Arum, Tebo Regency. The instruments of this research are educator observation sheets, student observation sheets, performance tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique for this research uses qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The results of the research are: 1. There was an increase in the learning process which can be seen from the observation sheet in Cycle I Meeting 1, namely 72.5, the value of Cycle I Meeting II, namely 80, the value of Cycle II Meeting I, namely 85, and the value of Cycle II Meeting II, namely 90. Furthermore, the value of the results of the student observation sheet for Cycle I Meeting 1, namely 70, the value of Cycle I Meeting II, namely 77.5, the value of Cycle II Meeting I, namely 85, and the value of Cycle II Meeting II, namely 92.5, (2) There has been an increase in student creativity in Fine Arts Learning which can be seen in the performance test scores. At the Pre-cycle stage the average score was 68.6 in the poor category, increasing in Cycle I, namely 78 in the Fairly Good category and increasing in Cycle II, namely 87 in the Good category. So, it can be concluded that the application of the Free Expression method can increase students' creativity in Class II Fine Arts Learning at State Elementary School 165/VIII Sumber Arum, Tebo Regency.
