Abstract

This field study aims to explore information about the local tradition of wesuhi and how it relates to health aspects. The field study was conducted in Jangga Village, Indramayu Regency, with village officials, traditional healers, and village midwives as sources of information. Data was collected through interviews with all informants and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the wesuhi tradition is a series of rituals involving washing the hands and feet, intended to purify or cleanse oneself from major impurities. It is performed in conjunction with the nyukur tradition. The timing is divided into two periods: on the 35th day for female infants and the 40th day for male infants. This tradition involves several key figures, such as the paraji, midwife, husband, family, or individuals who handled the mother's blood during childbirth. First, the mother performs the wesuhi ritual for her husband, midwife, and family. Subsequently, the mother is bathed under the guidance of the paraji. The artifacts needed include dringo, bengle, garlic, rice, and seven types of flowers, which are believed to replace the unpleasant odor of the postpartum mother with a fragrant and pleasant scent. The wesuhi tradition holds several local wisdom values, including religious values such as devotion to Allah SWT, social values or maintaining relationships, and personal hygiene values. This tradition needs to be preserved by the community, as the values of wisdom embedded in it are beneficial for shaping the character of the Jangga village community. The Wesuhi tradition can also enhance community awareness to become better in terms of religion, socializing, and paying more attention to personal hygiene

Abstract

Background: Nutritional problems among prospective or pregnant mothers, such as chronic energy deficiency (CED), obesity, and anemia, remain prevalent. Anemia, in particular, increases the maternal mortality rate by 3.7 times compared to non-anemic mothers. Addressing nutritional issues early, including among young women, is essential for improving maternal health outcomes. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between balanced nutrition knowledge and the nutritional status of female students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan Cirebon in 2024. Methods: This quantitative research employed a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of female students, selected through total sampling. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman’s Rank correlation test. The independent variable was balanced nutrition knowledge, and the dependent variable was nutritional status. Results: The Spearman’s Rank correlation test showed a significant relationship between balanced nutrition knowledge and nutritional status with a p-value of 0.016 (< 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.240. This positive correlation indicates that higher knowledge of balanced nutrition is associated with better nutritional status. Conclusion: There is a significant and positive relationship between balanced nutrition knowledge and nutritional status. Nutrition knowledge can serve as a modifiable factor to improve the nutritional status of individuals, particularly among female students. Interventions aimed at enhancing nutrition education may contribute to better health outcomes in this population.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2) is a chronic disease that is prone to cause complications, one of which is diabetic foot sores. The duration of suffering from DMT2 is thought to contribute to the increased risk of injury. This study aims to determine the relationship between the length of suffering from DMT2 and the incidence of injuries in patients at Posbindu Bima Ceria. This study uses a quantitative approach with an analytical descriptive design and a cross-sectional method. The number of respondents was 22 people who were selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and direct observation and analyzed using the Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that 17 respondents (77.3%) had suffered from DMT2 ≥5 years, and 15 of them (86.7%) had injuries. Meanwhile, of the 5 respondents who suffered from DMT2 <5 years, only 2 people (40%) were injured. The results of the statistical test showed a value of p = 0.002 (< α 0.05), which means that there is a significant relationship between the length of time of suffering from DMT2 and the incidence of injury. This study shows that the longer a person suffers from DMT2, the higher the risk of injury. Injury prevention through routine monitoring and foot care education is very important, especially for patients with a duration of more than five years

Abstract

Comprehensive midwifery care is a continuous service that includes antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, and family planning care. This report aims to describe the midwifery care provided to Mrs. A (32 years old, G2P1A0) at 37 weeks and 2 days of gestation, conducted at Sindanglaut Public Health Center, Cirebon Regency, from February to May 2025. The method used was a case study with a continuity of care approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and SOAP documentation. During the antenatal period, both maternal and fetal conditions remained within normal limits. Spontaneous labor occurred on April 9, 2025, at 02:40 AM, resulting in the birth of a healthy male infant (weighing 2880 grams, measuring 49 cm), with strong crying and successful Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (EIBF). On postpartum day 21, the mother experienced breast engorgement in the left breast. This was managed through breastfeeding education, proper latching techniques, warm and cold compresses, and lactation massage, which effectively resolved the complaint. By postpartum day 30, both mother and baby were in good condition, and the mother opted for a 3-month injectable contraceptive method. The care provided adhered to midwifery standards and produced optimal outcomes. This report is expected to serve as a reference for healthcare providers in delivering comprehensive and continuous midwifery care
