Abstract

This study aims to describe theoretically whether learning with the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) approach can improve students' mathematical communication skills. This type of research is the study of literature on improving mathematical communication skills through the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) approach. This research method uses review articles, which use research results from various journals as an alternative to support the results of the research will be conducted. The data used were five journals which have the same research problem. Based on the results of the review articles can conclude that mathematical communication skills of students who learn with the Model Eliciting Activity (MEAs) approach is better than mathematical communication skills of students who study with conventional learning.Keywords— Model Eliciting Activities, MEAs, Mathematical Communication

Abstract

Students need critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication abilities in the 21st century. However, class IX SMP Negeri 28 Padang pupils still lack mathematical critical thinking. The STAD learning approach using GeoGebra was selected. This research examined whether students' mathematical critical thinking skills are better when using the STAD type cooperative learning approach using GeoGebra than when studying directly in class IX SMP Negeri 28 Padang. This is a Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design pseudo-experiment. Simple Random Sampling was used. After the draw, class IX.2 was the experimental class and class IX.1 the control class. Questionnaires and tests of mathematical critical thinking were employed for study. This study's hypothesis was proven using the t test. The P-value was 0.000 after data analysis. As the P-value is < α = 0.05, H0 is discarded. Students that use the STAD learning paradigm with GeoGebra have greater mathematical critical thinking skills than those who use direct learning.Keywords– STAD, Mathematical Critical Thinking Skills, Geogebra, Direct Learning.

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is one of the aspects that determines students’ success in achieving the goals of learning mathematics. However, in reality found that students’ mathematical communication ability in class VIII SMP Negeri 31 Padang were still low. The method that can be applied to improve students’ mathematical communication ability is by applying Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach. The purpose of this study is to know whether students’ mathematical communication ability who learned by using RME approach is better than those who learned by using scientific approach and to describe the development of students’ mathematical communication ability who learned by using RME approach in class VIII SMPN 31 Padang. This study was a combination between quasi experimental and descriptive study with static group design. Based on the result of data analysis, henced  concluded students’ mathematical communication ability who learned by using RME approach is better than those who learned by using scientific approach.Keywords – mathematical communication ability ,realistic mathematic education approach, scientific approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the understanding of mathematical concepts of students whose learning applies the 7E Learning Cycle model is better than the understanding of mathematical concepts of students whose learning applies direct learning models in class VII SMPN 1 Lubuk Sikaping. The type of research is a quasi-experimental with Static Group Design. The population of this study was students in grades VII.1 to VII.10 of SMPN 1 Lubuk Sikaping who were registered in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research instrument is the final test which is analyzed using a hypothesis test, namely the U Mann Whitney test. Based on the statistical test analysis, it was obtained that the P-value was 0.0001, where the P-value was smaller than the real level of 0.05, which means that H0 is rejected. This shows that the Learning Cycle 7E learning model has an effect on understanding the mathematical concepts of students in class VII SMPN 1 Lubuk Sikaping.Keywords– Learning Cycle 7E, Pembelajaran Langsung, Pemahaman Konsep Matematis

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are one of the goal of mathematics learning that must be achieved by students. But in the reality at SMP Negeri 31 Padang this ability is still not optimal and do not facilitated yet for improving those skill well. One effort to overcome these problems is to apply the the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study is to describe whether the mathematical communication skills of student who learn by using the TSTS model is more better than student who learn by conventional learning. This type of research is quasi-experimental and descriptive research design with Randomized Control Group Only Design. Abstract

The level of mastery of mathematics that has been obtained during learning can be reflected by the learning outcomes. The problem that occurs at SMP Negeri 43 Padang is the low mathematics outcomes of learning achieved by students. The use of interactive learning multimedia is the solution that is applied in this problem. This study aims to know differentiate between interactive multimedia-based learning and learning by conventional. This research uses the type of quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. The research population are students of 8th grade of SMP Negeri 43 Padang, with VIII 1 as the class for experimental and VIII 3 as the class for control, the choosing by technique of purposive sampling. The research instrument that used in this research is essay questions form test of learning outcomes from mathematics. The research hypothesis is analyzed by t-test. P-value = 0,000 at significance level ? = 0,05 is obtained based on the data analysis result so that ?0  is rejected. Therefore, we got the conclussion that students who study using interactive learning multimedia obtain better learning outcomes by mathematics than students who study by learning with conventional. Keywords – interactive learning multimedia, learning outcomes, Cartesius

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a learning tools in the form of a student worksheet based on the Team Assisted Individualization type of cooperative model on the material of the rules of sines and cosinus for students grade X SHS that are valid and practical. By using the Plomp model, this development research consists of three stage namely the Preliminary Research, the Development or Prhotyping Phase and  the Assesment Phase. Based on the results of the validity data analysis, it shows that the student worksheet based on the Team Assisted Individualization model on the material of the sine and cosine rules in terms of content feasibility, the Team Assisted Individualization type cooperative model, language, presentation and graphics have a valdity level of 83.66% with very valid categories. This student worksheet also met the practical criteria of the student response questionnaire results with a percentage of 88.88%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the student worksheet based on the Team Assisted Individualization type cooperative model on the material of the rules of sines and cosines for class X SMA students can be declared valid and practical. Keywords— Development Research, Student Worksheet, Team Assisted Individualization

Abstract

General description of the results In 2023/2024, students in class X IPA E SMA Negeri 2 Padang had low mathematical problem solving skills, were less active, and less passionate about learning. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with Ice Breaking is used to overcome the weaknesses of direct learning. This study aims to test whether the implementation of PBL has superior abilities than the direct learning model and how they develop these abilities. In this descriptive quasi-experimental research, Static Group Design was used. The students studied were students in class X.E of SMA 2 Padang, specifically classes X.E 5 and 6. The t-test analysis of the mathematics problem solving ability test in the form of an essay showed a P-value of 0.001 at the α = 0.05 level. Because of this value, H0 is rejected, indicating that PBL is superior to direct learning. Based on the quiz scores, students' mathematical problem-solving skills improved.Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving, PBL, Direct Learning

Abstract

The ability to solve mathematical problems is an important aspect that needs to be achived in mathematics learning. In fact, learning activities at SMPN 1 Pariaman was not optimal yet in facilitating students to improve those aspects. Students were difficult to solve math problems especially the problems were in essay tes, besides they were not involved actively in mathematics learning activities. One of way to solve this problem was by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The type of the research was a quasi-experimental with Randomize Control Group Only Design. The results of this research indicates that students’ mathematical problem solving ability who studied with PBL model is better than who studied with conventional learning. Abstract

Learning outcomes are the results achieved by students after carrying out learning activities and appropriate learning is truly needed in order to improving student learning outcomes. However, in reality the learning process carried out in class XI MAS KUI Thawalib Putra Padang Panjang is still not yet optimal in improving students' learning outcomes. Mathematics learning in class XI MAS KUI Thawalib Putra Padang Panjang is still on the teacher centered learning. In addition, student learning activities are still passive in learning. One of the best solutions to increase learning activities and learning outcomes are applying the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model. TPS learning model is one of the cooperative learning models. This study purpose was describing student learning activities during the application of the TPS learning model, and describing whether mathematics learning outcomes of students in the posttest group were better than the pretest group in class XI MAS KUI Thawalib Putra Padang Panjang. This type of research is quantitative including a pre-experimental method of type one group pretest-posttest (single group initial test-end test). The instruments used are learning outcomes tests and observation sheets. Proof of research hypothesis by t test. From the data analysis, it was concluded that the activities of students who studied with the TPS model tended to increase at each meeting, and the results of learning mathematics for the sample class students in class XI MAS KUI Thawalib Putra Padang Panjang who were taught by applying the Think Pair Share learning model were different from the results. learning mathematics of students who are taught by conventional learning to the level of = 0.05.Keywords -- Cooperative Learning, Learning Activities, Learning Outcomes, Think Pair Share
