Abstract

The abilities for communicate mathematically is also one of the objectives math knowledge. However, class IX students at SMP Negeri 4 Tanjung Raya still struggle to communicate mathematical ideas. This study's goal was to ascertain if pupils who learnt using the Index Card Match model at SMP Negeri 4 Tanjung Raya had a better understanding of mathematical concepts than students who learned using standard learning methods.Quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent..posttest-only control group design was employed in this topic. However according analysis of data, it was determined that in class IX.of SMP Negeri 4 Tanjung Raya, students who learned using the Index Card Match model had superior mathematical communication abilities than those of students who studied using traditional learning methods.Keywords– Cooperative, Index Card Match, Communicate Mathematical

Abstract

Mathematical concept understanding of Indonesian students is classified as low. It is indicated by various studies about mathematics learning outcome of Indonesian student. This issue is caused by the low participating student in learning process. This study aims to describe the influence of generative learning model on mathematical concept’s understanding of student. The data collected as relevant article was reviewed and analyzed to get the results. Abstract

One of the important abilities that students must have is mathematical communication skills. However, because the leairning model used in class XII IPA MAN 2 Padang City still focuses on the teacher does not support the development of students' mathematical comunication skill, students' mathematical communication abilities are considered low. Modelproblem based learning (PBL) is used to overcome this problem. Theaim of the research is to explain how students learn mathematical comunication by applying the problem basedd leairning (PBL) model and to analyze the differences in students' mathematical comunication using the PBL model which is better than the direct leairning model. Types of research quasi-experimental research (quasy experiment) with plans nonequivalent postest-only control group design, and descriptive research. The research population is student of class XII IPA MAN 2 Padang City for the 2023/2024 academic year. Sampling methodsimple random sampling with class XII Science 6 experimental groups and XII Science 4 control classes. The research instrument uses quizzes and final tests. Basedd on the results of the quiz analysis, it was found that, for each indicator, except indicator 2, mathematical communication skills had increased, and basedd on the results of hypotesis testing with a level of 0.05, it was obtained, meaning  until minus . This shows that the mathematical communication skill of students who study with the PBL model are better than those who study with the direct leairning model. In this way, it was conclud that therewas an influeince of the PBL model on the mathematical communication skills of students in class XII IPA MAN 2 Padang City..Keywords- Problem Based Learning Models, Comunication Mathematical Ability, Direct Learning Models.

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the most important mathematical goals for students to master the material and prerequisites for the next concept, in fact in class IX SMP Negeri 11 Padang student's understanding of mathematical concepts is still low, so it needs to be improved and the one of the objectives of mathematics learning can be reached. The teacher dominates the learning carried out. The effort to solve this problem is by applying a learning model that can facilitate students to understand the material with their own knowledge. The learning model that can be used is a cooperative learning model type Think Pair Square (TPSq). The type of this research is quasi-experimental with a research design namely Static Group Design. Based on the results of data analysis using the t-test, obtained P-value = 0.012 ˂ α = 0.05, the conclusion is the student’s understanding of the mathematics concept who learn with the cooperative learning type TPSq model better than students using conventional learning. Keywords— cooperative learning, Think Pair Square, mathematical concepts, conventional learning

Abstract

The aims of this study is to find out (1) the difficulties experienced by students in class VII SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP in solving problems algebra related to concepts and principles (2) factors that cause learning difficulties for class VII students of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP in learning algebra. In this study, 51 students took the test. From the results of the algebra test, none of the students' scores pass the KBM (Minimum Learning Criteria). Data were collected by algebraic test methods, questionnaires and interviews. The analytical method used is descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that: (1) the difficulties experienced by students of class VII SMP UNP Laboratory Development in solving algebra problems related to concepts and principles were (a) in mastering concepts, students still experienced many difficulties in all indicators, especially in considering one or more conditions required for two or more tribes to be declared as similar tribes, where the difficulty is in the very high category, namely 100%; (b) in mastering principles, students still have difficulty using the rules of algebraic operations, determining the models and methods used, and applying existing principles, which are at a very high indicator of 98.04%; (2) the factors that cause learning difficulties for students of SMP UNP Laboratory Development in studying algebra come from internal factors, namely aspects of talent and intelligence as well as external factors, namely the use of teaching aids by educators. Keywords – Types of  Mathematics Learning Difficulties, Factors Causing Difficulties, Algebra

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is the foundation that will help students achieve their learning objectives, thus understanding mathematical concepts becomes an important component in the learning process of mathematics. However, class XII students of the Science Program at SMAN 2 Batusangkar still have a low understanding of mathematical concepts. One of the strategies to overcome this is to modify the learning model, such as the Connecting Organizing Reflecting Extending (CORE) cooperative learning model. The research conducted on class XII IPA students at SMAN 2 Batusangkar aims to find out whether students who understand mathematical concepts using CORE  cooperative model are higher than the conventional learning process. This research is a Quasi Experiment with a nonequivalent posttest-only group design. The population is all students of class XII IPA SMAN 2 Batusangkar with samples from class XII IPA 2 and XII IPA 3. Abstract

This research aims to develop interactive learning multimedia based on scientific approach in trigonometric material of class X SMA which is valid and practical. This type of research is a design research type of development studies with the Plomp development model which consist of preliminary research phase and prototyping phase. The preliminary research phase includes need analysis, student analysis, curriculum analysis and concept analysis. Prototyping phase was the stage of design interactive learning multimedia consisting of prototype 1, prototype 2, prototype 3 and prototype 4 which were evaluated using a formative evaluation design. Based on the validation result, the interactive learning multimedia is considered valid with a validity level of 88,57%. The practicality level by students was 87,73%  and hhe practicality level by teacher was 89,58%  .Keywords ‒ Interactive learning multimedia, scientific approach, valid, practical.

Abstract

This paper discusses the ability of students to understand mathematical concepts that can be improved with the TTW strategy. The low ability of students to understand mathematical concepts is because the learning process is not optimal. Through this research, it is explained theoretically that learning with the TTW strategy can improve students' ability to understand mathematical concepts.This research type is literature study. Data collection is done by searching, collecting and analyzing sources related to topics discussed either from textbooks, journals or other sources.The conclusion from this literature study is that theoretically the ability of students to understand mathematical concepts can be improved by the TTW strategy. This is because at each stage of the TTW it can help students be actively involved and construct their own understanding in increasing understanding of mathematical concepts. Think activity will support students to be able to think independently and be able to construct their own thinking results. During the talk activity, students will gain new understanding from the results of the discussion with their partners. Then, students will give each other good direction and understanding to be able to learn existing concepts. Abstract

The development of reasoning skills is very important for students, because without reasoning skills, mathematics will only be an exercise to follow methods and imitate examples, without understanding. This study aims to assess whether mathematical reasoning skills will be superior using CTL-based flipbooks compared to conventional teaching materials in class VIII UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kec. Guguak in TP 2023/2024. The research methodology applied was Quasi Experiment, and the design chosen was Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The results prove that students' mathematical reasoning skills are superior when they are taught using flipbooks based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, in class VIII UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kec. Abstract

This research aimed to describe types and factors of mistakes students in solving mathematical problems based on Newman's error analysis. The subject was students grade class VIII-5 in SMPN 1 Pariaman. Data obtained from the results of observations, tests and interviews. The data analysis according to miles dan Huberman, which was data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. The results of the research shows that students make mistakes in reading, comprehension, transformation, process skill and encoding. The factors that cause the error are students solve problems without looking at the questions first, students cannot understand the meaning conveyed by the problem, students are often given problems that has a linear equation, students are not careful writing the mathematical model, students do not check the answer that have been written, students do not master the material thoroughly, students do not pay attention to the teacher, the delivery of material from the teacher is sometimes too fast, students also do not dare ask to the teacher if they do not understand.Keywords – error analysis, Newman's error analysis, types and factors of error
