Abstract

Learners are capable of being problem solvers, and mathematics is no exception. However, in class XI Advanced Mathematics at SMAN 8 Mandau still lacks the necessary skills in this area. The lack of thorough and accurate problem solving in accordance with the set indicators is shown by the research results. To overcome this problem, the RME learning approach was applied. A quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design was used in this study. With a P-value = 0.039, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected in the final test analysis using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. In particular, when compared to those who used the conventional learning approach, the Advanced Mathematics XI class at SMAN 8 Mandau outperformed in terms of problem solving with the RME method. Keywords – Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) Learning Approach, Conventional Learning, Mathematical Problem Solving

Abstract

Education is an important aspect indeveloping quality personnel resources to make the country's life intelligent. Mathematics plays a significant role in knowledge, as stated in Article 37 of Law No. 20 of 2003, which mandates mathematics as a compulsory subject across all education levels. However, current mathematics instruction is still dominated by conventional, teacher-centered models. These methods monotonous and lack active student interaction. Consequently, classroom environments become less engaging, hinder creativity, and fail To fulfill the requirements of 21st-century education, which emphasizes active learning processes. This issue was observed in Grade XI at SMAN 1 Batang Kapas. Students are passive due to teacher dominance. This phenomenon inspired a classroom action research study to carry out the cooperative learning model, Numbered Heads Together (NHT). This model aims to upgrade students' active engagementand learning outcomes, particularly in function composition topics. The study was conducted in two cycles involving Grade XI F.1 students at SMAN 1 Batang Kapas during the 2024/2025 academic year. The results show that the NHT model effectively improved student learning outcomes. This is demonstrated by the average test scores increasing from 82 in Cycle I to 92 in Cycle II, and classical thoroughness rising from 59% in Cycle I to 91% in Cycle II.Keywords– Mathematics, Learning Outcomes, Direct Instruction, Cooperative Learning, NHT

Abstract

Students' ability to express mathematical concepts through the use of mathematical symbols and language is intrinsic to mathematics education, which in turn relates to mathematical communication. Class XII at SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh is still at a low level in this regard. The Think-Talk-Write (TTW) cooperative model offers a potential approach to overcome this problem. Compared to a conventional model, this learning model was tested to determine whether it could improve the ability to express mathematical concepts. This study used a quasi-experimental postest only control group design. The participants in this study were class XII F 9 and XII F 1 SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh. Based on the research results, the TTW model class has a higher class average than the conventional model class. Therefore, the TTW model outperforms the conventional model, as evidenced by the P-value <α.Keywords– Mathematical Communication Skills, Think Talk Write Model, Conventional Learning Model

Abstract

The main indicator of how much has been learned is the quality of learning outcomes. However, in fact, learning outcomes in the mathematical field of class VIII at SMPN 2 Pangkalan Kuras are still below the KKTP. The application of discovery learning (DL) model with scaffolding strategy can overcome this problem. This study will explore whether class VIII at SMPN 2 Pangkalan Kuras learn mathematics better using direct learning model or DL model with scaffolding strategy. Quantitative in nature, this study used a posttest-only nonequivalent control group design which is typical of quasi-experimental studies. Class VIII of SMPN 2 Pangkalan Kuras (specifically classes VIII.2 and VIII.3) became the population in this study. A learning outcome test consisting of five questions was used as the instrument in this study. The t-test analysis of the test data resulted in a P-value = 0.044. H0 was rejected as a result of P-value < α. Thus, it can be obtained that in class VIII of SMPN 2 Pangkalan Kuras, the DL model with scaffolding tactics produces learning outcomes that are superior to direct learning. Keywords– Mathematics Learning Outcomes, Discovery Learning Model, Scaffolding Strategy, Direct learning Model

Abstract

Learning outcomes in mathematics are a measure of how well students have mastered the subject and how much progress they have made in achieving their goals. However, class XI MAN 2 Bukittinggi still has low scores, as evidenced by daily assessment and observation data. The purpose of the study was to test and characterize the effectiveness of the Think Talk Write (TTW) model in mathematics education, compared to more traditional approaches. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a control group that was only given a post-test and not an equivalent post-test. Class XI of MAN 2 Bukittinggi in the 2024-2025 academic year became the study population. Class XIF.5 served as the experimental group and class XIF.9 as the control group, which were selected using simple random sampling. The research tool used was descriptive exam questions. The null hypothesis (H0) was rejected because the t-test results indicated the P-value (0.000) was lower than the significance level (α = 0.05). This indicates that the TTW model produces superior learning outcomes compared to the traditional approach in class XI MAN 2 Bukittinggi. Keywords– Mathematics Learning Outcomes, TTW Cooperative Learning Model, Conventional Learning Model

Abstract

One of the skills that students must master is the ability to communicate mathematical ideas.  Class IX at SMP Negeri 1 Baso is still at a minimum skill in this regard.  The implementation of the Think Talk Write (TTW) cooperative model is expected to overcome these problems.  This research used a non-equivalent posttest-only control group.  The results of the test, when analyzed by t-test, revealed a P-value = 0.019 at a significance level of α = 0.05.  Based on the performance on the test given using the TTW model, it can be concluded that the model is better in promoting mathematical communication skills when compared to direct learning. Keywords– Direct Learning, Mathematical communication skills, Think Talk Write
