Gender Development Index (GDI) shows that gender development inequality in Indonesia is still high because of lower female Human Development Index (HDI) than that of male. This research is pointed to analyse the impact of women empowerment on economy and politics to female HDI. By using multiple linear regression model and harnessing data of 514 regencies/municipalities, this research reveals that share of women on parliament, women on professional work, and women as entrepreneurs simultaneously affects women HDI in Indonesia.

Abstract

Since 2014, to reach the poor for increasing financial inclusion, the government of Indonesia has been digitizing social benefits. Recently, local government has also been pushed to build a “Digital Village.” We argue that for such a program to succeed, a good level of financial and digital literacy of the village officials is necessary. We surveyed the village officials in 60 out of 215 Aceh Tamiang to examine their financial, digital, and DFS literacy. We find that the literacy of the village officials, on average, is low. The factors contributing to low financial literacy are age, level of education, and accessibility to financial and digital services.

This research estimates the effect of the minimum wage increase on the wage inequality in Java provinces between 2008 and 2014 using semiparametric methods. It is found that the increase in minimum wage decrease the wage inequality in DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, and Banten Provinces if the employment effects of the minimum wage increase are ignored and the opposite results if we consider the employment effects. Different results occur in Yogyakarta Special Region and East Java provinces, the minimum wage increase will lead to an increase in wage inequality both for the inclusion or exclusion of the employment effects.

Abstract

This study discusses the impact of macroeconomic volatility on bank credit allocation. The hypothesis built that macroeconomic volatility will influence banks to careful in issuing new loans. This study uses panel data with a sample of 10 banks using Baum model. This study uses the macroeconomic volatility as independent variables. This study uses a generalized method of moment regression test to examine the relationship between dependent and independent variables. The results of this study indicate negative relationship between inflation volatility and volatility in GDP growth with lending, whereas the volatility of exchange rate depreciation does not have effect on lending.

Abstract

RPJMN 2015–2019 mandates universal access of drinking water in 2019. This study analyzes the policy using panel data regression. Random Effect Model (REM ) shows funding, per capita Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP ), and population density explain the water coverage of 23.57%, while the rest are explained by variables outside the model. Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) per capita has the biggest impact on coverage, followed by Population Density. On funding, central government’s budget significantly has the highest impact, followed by local government’s budget (APBD), while others aren’t significant. Investment has positive effect, but high per capita investment may not provide high coverage. The coverage in 2019 based on unit-cost calculation is 80.21%, universal access target isn’t reached.

Abstract

This paper presents spatial linkages on calculations of spill-over and feed-back effects of World input-output tables, which is aggregated specifically into six-Asian countries includes China, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, plus Australia, United States, and the Rest of the World. The results showed that, firstly output multipliers in six Asian countries tend to increase during 2000–2014, indicating a consistent economic growth. Secondly, except China, output multipliers occurred in other countries tend to increase. Thirdly, in 2000, the United States and Japan were two countries receiving highest output spill-over. However, in year 2014, most of output spill-over moved to China. India and Indonesia received only small part of spill-over from other countries. Fourthly, the highest feed-back effect occurred in China and Japan. The smallest feed-back effect occurred in India and Indonesia. China had smallest spill-over effect but received the highest feed-back effect.

Abstract

Infrastructure development is absolutely necessary to improve Indonesia’s economic growth which carries the principles of pro-poor, pro growth, and pro-jobs. However, the conditions of each region are different so that these objectives are always accompanied by inequality in development outcomes. This study maps areas that experience inequality into a composite index using factor analysis. This composite index was built based on the development of methods by the OECD. The results showed that Indeks Pembangunan Infrastruktur (IPI) was a valid measure. Seven provinces are categorized as inadequate located in Kalimantan and eastern Indonesia. The seven provinces have infrastructure and health and economic dimensions below the national average.

Abstract

This research aims to decompose the employment participation rate to explain gender gap in DKI Jakarta Province in three periods (1995, 2005, and 2015). Determinant of employment participation rate of men and women was estimated by probit regression model and marginal effect. Non-linear decomposition technique used to analyze the source of gender gap. The results show that the main cause of gender gap comes from structural factors in the labor market (discrimination). The value of the gender gap in 20 years has decreased, in 1995, 2005, and 2015 it was 40,82%; 39,17%; and 29,34% respectively. It shows that the discrimnination rate in Jakarta has decreased.

Abstract

The decrease of customs clearance time is a form of reform and modernization of customs, through the policy of red line reduction. With a short customs clearance time, the velocity of goods in ports and airports become faster so as to support the smooth flow of national logistics. Smooth flow of goods will support the trade, which ultimately government revenue from import duties will be affected. This study aims to find the effect of the policy on the government revenue. The study used the data of 35 periods before and after the red line reduction policy was taken. The result shows that the policy of red line reduction negatively affects the government revenue of import duties.

Abstract

ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) is a free trade area formed in 2009. One of its implementations is the reduction of import duties on salt commodities in 2011. Its implementations has an impact on trade creation (TC) members and trade diversion (TD) on salt commodities product. The objective of this study is to analyze the occurrence TC and TD on salt commodity. Import demand elasticity and substitution elasticity approach for TC and TD estimation models was developed by the World Bank. The result is no all AANZFTA’s members get profit in the form of TC but just TD with dominated by Australia (99%) and other member (1%).
