Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on capital structure adjustment among firms in Indonesia, with a focus on differences between Sharia-compliant and non-compliant companies. The research utilizes panel data from non-financial firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2017–2022 period. Capital structure adjustment is analyzed using panel regression methods, controlling for variables such as profitability, growth, firm size, tangibility, liquidity, and income volatility. The findings indicate that the pandemic increased leverage and accelerated capital structure adjustment overall. However, Sharia-compliant firms exhibited a slower adjustment speed compared to non-compliant firms, due to constraints imposed by Islamic financial principles. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of capital structure dynamics during crises and offers practical implications for corporate financial decision-making and regulatory strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing students at Universitas Indonesia (UI) in participating in the boycott movement against products affiliated with Israel. Data were collected through an online survey of 408 UI students from the 2021–2024 cohorts. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling method. Analysis using Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) demonstrates that anger, empathy, and subjective norms have a positive and significant impact on boycott intentions, while religiosity is not significant. Economic threats are found to increase anger, which in turn drives boycott intentions. These findings emphasize that emotional factors and social pressure play a more dominant role in boycott participation decisions compared to religiosity. The study implies that campaigns highlighting economic impacts and humanitarian issues can enhance boycott participation. Social organizations and relevant institutions are advised to leverage social media to strengthen social norms supporting this movement. Future research should expand the sample scope and consider additional factors, such as political influence or media roles.

This study divides ownership structure into ownership concentration and ownership type. Data was taken from Thomson Reuters includes 37 sample companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2018-2022. This study uses the least squares regression method (OLS) and the two-stage least squares method (2SLS). The result show a positive and significant effect between CSR and CFP. However, ownership concentration inhibits the positive effect and CSR in non-SOE companies cannot increase CFP better than SOE companies.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relationship between stock market volatility, Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI), interest rates, exchange rates, and the Industrial Production Index (IPI) on Islamic stocks in the energy sector in Indonesia from 2011 to 2023, using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method and monthly frequency data. The research results indicate the existence of cointegration or a long-term relationship among each tested variable as the dependent variable. The long-term test results show that volatility in Islamic stocks in the energy sector is positively influenced by FPI activity. Furthermore, the exchange rate positively affects the IPI. Meanwhile, in the short term, FPI activity is negatively influenced by the FPI value of the previous period. On the other hand, stock market volatility positively affects FPI. Additionally, the IPI is positively influenced by the IPI value of the previous 3 months, the exchange rate, FPI activity, as well as stock market volatility up to 1 month prior.

Abstract

This study investigates how individual factors—namely emotional intelligence, external locus of control, risk aversion, and financial literacy—affect the intention to invest in risky financial instruments in Indonesia. The research explores both the direct and indirect effects of these factors on risky investment intentions. Data were collected from 507 respondents through an online questionnaire. The findings indicate that emotional intelligence, external locus of control, and financial literacy positively influence the intention to invest in risky assets, while risk aversion has a negative effect. Additionally, the analysis of indirect effects shows that financial literacy moderates the relationship between emotional intelligence and risk aversion in shaping risky investment intentions. However, financial literacy does not moderate the relationship between external locus of control and risky investment intentions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of employer branding on employee retention with the mediating role of job satisfaction, organizational identification, and career development. This research uses a quantitative method using a questionnaire survey involving 400 workers in Jabodetabek technology companies. Data processing was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Lisrel 8.8 software and it was found that employer branding has a significant influence on job satisfaction, organizational identification, and career development. However, of the three mediations used, only one had a significant effect, namely job satisfaction. Thus, this study shows that although employer branding has a positive effect on other variables, only job satisfaction has a mediating role on employee intention to stay in Jabodetabek technology companies.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's policy to reform state financial administration through the adoption of IPSAS in Indonesia has drawn controversy among accounting academics. This study evaluates the policy from an empiricist perspective in the epistemology of the philosophy of science at the stages of formulation, evaluation, and consequences of the policy. The results of the analysis show that the formulation and evaluation stages that are not based on the principle of empiricism that emphasizes observable evidence in the formation of ideas and scientific studies cause various obstacles in the implementation process and ultimately have negative consequences for society. This article presents recommendations that can be made to improve future policies.
