Jurnal Pengabdian Isola (JPI) promotes dissemination in the broad field of Community Services in Education, Science, and Technology (including teaching and learning process, social condition, science and science education, experimental demonstration in class/classroom experiments, teaching model and media, teacher/student/scientist perspectives, teacher professional development, etc.) with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region relating to community service activities. Contributions are expected from teachers, lecturers, educators, researchers, project managers, research administrators, and students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, researchers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles in community services Empirical studies in community services Practice-oriented papers in community services Case studies in community services Review of papers, books, and resources in community services. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style. The below mentioned areas are just indicative. The editorial board also welcomes innovative articles that redefine any Science and Technology field in community services. Abstract

Implementasi Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) di sekolah, perlu didukung dengan kompetensi guru dalam mengintegrasikan pendekatan ESD melalui pembelajaran. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru bagi guru kimia di Provinsi Banten dalam mengimplementasikan ESD melalui eksperimen kimia skala kecil. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode workshop isolasi minyak sereh wangi melalui destilasi uap menggunakan small-scale kit. Evaluasi keberhasilan kegiatan workshop ini dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner respon guru terhadap kegiatan workshop yang telah dilakukan. Kegiatan workshop telah berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menggunakan small-scale kit untuk mengurangi penggunakan bahan kimia pada pembelajaran kimia berbasis eksperimen. Hal ini dapat mendukung implementasi ESD dalam pembelajaran kimia di sekolah, khususnya di Provinsi Banten.Implementing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in schools requires teachers to be competent in integrating the ESD approach into their teaching. This community service initiative aims to equip chemistry teachers in Banten Province with new knowledge and skills for implementing ESD through small-scale chemistry laboratory activity. This activity was conducted using a workshop method to isolate citronella oil through steam distillation with a small-scale kit. To evaluate the success of the workshop, participants completed a questionnaire assessing their experience. Through this activity, teachers succeeded in gaining new knowledge and skills in using small-scale kits to reduce the use of chemicals in laboratory activity-based chemistry learning. This program supports the implementation of ESD in chemistry education in schools throughout Banten Province.

Abstract

Metode pembelajaran eksperimen berkaitan erat dengan pembelajaran sains. Keunggulan metode pembelajaran ini tidak hanya bagi siswa, yaitu dapat mendorong terjadinya proses konstruksi pengetahuan, tetapi juga memberikan kesempatan bagi guru untuk menyesuaikan strategi pembelajaran dengan situasi dan kondisi nyata yang mereka hadapi. Faktanya, pelaksanaan eksperimen di banyak sekolah, terutama di Provinsi Banten, masih menghadapi permasalahan ketidaktersediaan fasilitas yang memadai sehingga menghambat guru dalam melakukan eksperimen atau demonstrasi kimia. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tim Fun Chemistry Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia, FPMIPA, UPI menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa demonstrasi Fun Chemistry Experiments. Melalui kegiatan ini, peserta yang merupakan guru kimia yang tergabung di dalam MGMP se-wilayah Banten, diharapkan mendapatkan pengayaan materi terkait eksperimen kimia dengan topik yang sesuai dengan mata pelajaran kimia yang diajarkan di sekolah. Metode yang dilakukan pada kegiatan pengabdian kali ini adalah demonstrasi yang disertai dengan diskusi dan tanya jawab. Saat demonstrasi dilakukan, para peserta yang berjumlah 30 orang dibekali dengan lembar kerja praktikum. Lembar kerja ini memuat 9 judul eksperimen dengan alat dan bahan yang dapat diadaptasi atau disesuaikan dengan kondisi masing-masing sekolah. Selain itu, di akhir sesi kegiatan angket pendapat guru disebarkan untuk memetakan potensi eksperimen mana saja yang mungkin untuk diadaptasi di sekolah masing-masing. Berdasarkan angket diperoleh bahwa eksperimen Pesan Rahasia, kemudian disusul oleh “Volcano Eruption”, “Tahan Panas”, dan “Haru Biru” (dengan jumlah frekuensi jawaban yang sama) dinilai oleh peserta sebagai eksperimen yang paling mungkin untuk diadaptasi di tempat mengajar masing-masing dengan jumlah frekuensi jawaban 21 dan 15 secara berturut-turut.The experimental learning method is closely related to science education. The advantages of this learning method are not only beneficial for students, by encouraging the process of knowledge construction, but also provide opportunities for teachers to adjust their teaching strategies to real situations and conditions. Implementing experiments in many schools, especially in Banten Province, continues to face issues related to inadequate facilities, thus inhibits teachers from conducting either chemistry experiments or demonstrations. According to this problem, the Fun Chemistry team from the Chemistry Education study program, FPMIPA, UPI, organized a Fun Chemistry Experiments demonstration activity. The purpose of this activity is to enrich the participants, who are chemistry teachers from the MGMP community in Banten, with chemistry experiments related to topics taught at the senior high school level. The methods used in this community service activity include demonstrations, discussions, and QA sessions. During the demonstration, the 30 participants were provided with practical worksheets. The worksheets contain 9 titles of experiments with tools and materials that can be adjusted to the real conditions of each school. In addition, at the end of the session, a questionnaire was distributed to the teachers to map which experiments could potentially be adapted in their respective schools. The results showed that the experiments 'Pesan Rahasia', followed by 'Volcano Eruption', 'Tahan Panas', and 'Haru Biru' (which had the same frequency of responses), were rated by participants as the most likely experiments to be adapted in their teaching places, with response frequencies of 21 and 15, respectively.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan Fabrication Laboratory (Fablab) dalam pendidikan sangat potensial karena dapat meningkatkan keterampilan digital, minat terhadap pembelajaran, dan mengembangkan keterampilan abad ke-21. Akan tetapi, hingga saat ini pemanfaatan Fablab dalam pendidikan belum optimal. Oleh sebab itu, Fablab Edu UPI melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa serangkaian workshop. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan digital para mahasiswa. Workshop dilaksanakan setiap bulan dengan tema yang berbeda-beda, seperti CNC Laser, 3D scanning dan 3D printing, serta 3D modeling. Kegiatan dilaksanakan secara luring selama 4 JP yang terdiri atas sesi teori dan praktik pada setiap pertemuan. Pada akhir sesi, peserta diberikan mini project untuk menstimulasi kreativitas mereka. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan dengan memberikan angket, observasi, dan wawancara terbatas. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh, kegiatan workshop Fablab telah meningkatkan keterampilan digital mahasiswa. Peserta menunjukkan antusiasme dan ketertarikan yang besar selama mengikuti rangkaian workshop. Workshop tersebut tidak hanya meningkatkan kompetensi teknis peserta tetapi juga memupuk kreativitas dan menumbuhkan semangat berwirausaha. Peserta juga sepakat bahwa Fablab memiliki potensi yang besar untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran dan aktivitas penelitian.The use of a Fabrication Laboratory (Fablab) in education has great potential because it can improve digital skills, increase students' interest, and develop 21st-century skills. However, until now the use of Fablab in education has not been optimal. Therefore, Fablab Edu UPI conducted community service activities in the form of a workshop series. This activity aims to improve students' digital skills. Workshops are held every month with different themes such as CNC Laser, 3D scanning, 3D printing, and 3D modeling. The activities are executed for 4 lesson hours by combining the theory and practice sessions at each meeting. At the end of the session, a mini project is given to stimulate the creativity of participants. Evaluation of workshops is carried out by providing questionnaires, observations, and limited interviews. Based on the results obtained, student's digital skills have been improved. Participants showed great enthusiasm and interest during the series of workshops. The workshop not only improved the technical competence of participants but also fostered creativity and brought out an entrepreneurial spirit. Participants also agreed that Fablab has promising potential to support the learning process and research activities.

Abstract

Pelatihan teknologi informasi di bidang akademik, khususnya manajemen referensi ilmiah, merupakan aspek penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas karya tulis mahasiswa. Salah satu alat bantu yang banyak digunakan adalah Mendeley, namun penggunaannya masih terbatas di kalangan mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Mendeley sebagai alat bantu manajemen referensi ilmiah. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode interaktif, melibatkan 24 mahasiswa semester 7 dari Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika, Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka. Proses pelatihan meliputi tahap persiapan (pre-test dan penyusunan modul), pelaksanaan (demonstrasi dan praktik langsung), dan evaluasi (post-test dan kuesioner kepuasan). Hasil pre-test menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta belum pernah menggunakan Mendeley dalam praktiknya. Namun, setelah pelatihan, semua peserta dapat memahami dan mengoperasikan fitur-fitur utama Mendeley, seperti menambahkan referensi, menyisipkan kutipan otomatis, dan menyusun daftar pustaka. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini dinilai sangat efektif oleh mayoritas peserta, dengan tingkat kepuasan yang tinggi terhadap metode penyampaian dan bahan ajar. Selain itu, pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan rasa percaya diri peserta dan mendorong semangat untuk belajar lebih lanjut. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dan dapat dijadikan sebagai model pengembangan kapasitas mahasiswa dalam menulis karya ilmiah yang sesuai dengan standar akademik.Information technology training in the academic field, particularly in scientific reference management, is a crucial aspect of enhancing the quality of student papers. One tool that is widely used is Mendeley, but its use is still limited among students. This activity aims to improve students’ understanding and skills in using Mendeley as a scientific reference management tool. The training was conducted using interactive methods, involving 24 7th-semester students from the Mathematics Education Study Program, Universitas Sembilanbelas November, Kolaka. The training process included preparation (pre-test and module development), implementation (demonstration and hands-on practice), and evaluation (post-test and satisfaction questionnaire). The pre-test results showed that most participants had never used Mendeley in practice. However, after the training, all participants were able to understand and operate the main features of Mendeley, such as adding references, inserting automatic citations, and compiling bibliographies. The evaluation results showed that the training was rated highly effective by the majority of participants, with a high level of satisfaction with the delivery method and teaching materials. In addition, the training was successful in increasing participants’ confidence and encouraging their enthusiasm for further learning. Thus, this training proved to be effective and can be used as a model for developing students’ capacity to write scientific papers by academic standards.

Abstract

Penguatan pemahaman konseptual guru kimia menjadi tantangan penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran sains yang kontekstual dan bermakna. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menguatkan pemahaman konseptual guru terhadap fenomena dasar kimia berdasarkan evaluasi terhadap hasil respon pada lembar kerja demonstrasi. Sebanyak 30 guru kimia anggota MGMP di Provinsi Banten mengikuti pelatihan yang mencakup demonstrasi sembilan eksperimen sederhana dan pengisian lembar kerja eksploratif. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif-naratif dengan mempertimbangkan indikator akurasi ilmiah dan kedalaman penjelasan, serta dikaitkan dengan pengalaman mengajar. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa guru senior (20 tahun) cenderung memberikan penjelasan yang lebih logis dan ilmiah serta memiliki kemampuan metakognitif yang lebih tinggi. Guru pemula memiliki kemampuan komunikasi yang baik, namun kurang mampu menjelaskan secara ilmiah yang mendalam, sementara guru menengah menunjukkan gejala stagnasi konseptual. Beberapa demonstrasi juga memunculkan miskonsepsi sistemik, terutama pada fenomena yang tidak kasatmata. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan berbasis demonstrasi dan lembar kerja eksploratif tidak hanya efektif untuk mengembangkan pemahaman konseptual, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai alat refleksi pedagogis. Implikasi praktisnya meliputi potensi replikasi dalam program pelatihan guru seperti PPG, IHT MGMP, dan supervisi berbasis coaching. Kegiatan ini merekomendasikan pelibatan guru senior sebagai fasilitator dalam skema pengembangan komunitas belajar profesional, sejalan dengan arah kebijakan Merdeka Belajar.Strengthening chemistry teachers’ conceptual understanding remains a critical challenge in enhancing the quality of contextual and meaningful science learning. This community service initiative aims to reinforce teachers’ conceptual grasp of fundamental chemical phenomena by analyzing their responses to exploratory worksheet tasks during demonstration-based activities. A total of 30 chemistry teachers, all members of MGMP in Banten Province, participated in a training program that involved nine simple chemical demonstrations accompanied by structured worksheet-based exploration. A descriptive-narrative analysis was conducted, focusing on indicators of scientific accuracy and explanatory depth, and interpreted in relation to participants' teaching experience. The findings reveal that senior teachers (with more than 20 years of experience) tend to provide more logical and scientifically accurate explanations, alongside demonstrating higher metacognitive awareness. In contrast, novice teachers exhibited strong communication skills but lacked depth in scientific reasoning, while mid-career teachers showed signs of conceptual stagnation. Several demonstrations also revealed systemic misconceptions, particularly in relation to invisible or abstract phenomena. These results underscore the effectiveness of demonstration-based learning integrated with exploratory worksheets not only in fostering deeper conceptual understanding but also as tools for pedagogical reflection. The practical implications suggest that this model is replicable in teacher training programs such as PPG, MGMP-IHT, and coaching-based supervision initiatives. Furthermore, the study recommends the active involvement of senior teachers as facilitators in professional learning communities, aligning with the broader goals of Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar education reform policy.

Abstract

Teknologi digital di Era Society 5.0 telah dianggap sebagai bagian hidup manusia. Berbagai studi telah mengungkapkan bahwa pemanfaatan teknologi digital dalam pembelajaran mampu menstimulasi kemampuan berpikir siswa, termasuk kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keahlian pemanfaatan teknologi digital guru fisika di Indonesia untuk merancang pembelajaran interaktif untuk melatih kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa melalui Quizizz Training for Teacher. Sebanyak 25 guru fisika yang mengajar di berbagai provinsi di Indonesia terlibat sebagai subjek penelitian ini. Melalui program pelatihan dan pendampingan Quizizz Training for Teacher, 100% peserta menyatakan bahwa keahlian mereka dalam memanfaatkan teknologi digital sebagai pembelajaran interaktif meningkat. Guru-guru fisika selaku peserta pelatihan juga menunjukkan beberapa capaian, yaitu: a) Peserta mampu merancang pembelajaran interaktif dengan memanfaatkan teknologi digital dengan platform Quizizz; b) Peserta mampu merancang pembelajaran interaktif untuk melatih kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa; c) Menambah pengetahuan terkait cara menyusun soal evaluasi dengan indikator berpikir kreatif PISA.Digital technology in the era of Society 5.0 has been considered a part of human life. Various studies have revealed that the use of digital technology in learning is able to stimulate students' thinking skills, including the ability to think creatively. The purpose of this study is to increase the expertise of Physics teachers in Indonesia in utilizing digital technology to design interactive learning to train students' creative thinking skills through Quizizz Training For Teachers. A total of 25 physics teachers who teach in various provinces in Indonesia are involved as the subjects of this research. Through the Quizizz Training for Teacher program, 100% of the participants stated that their skills in utilizing digital technology as interactive learning improved. Physics teachers as training participants also showed several achievements, such as a) Participants were able to design interactive learning by utilizing digital technology with the Quizizz platform; b) Participants are able to design interactive learning to train students' creative thinking skills; c) Increase knowledge related to how to compile evaluation questions with PISA creative thinking indicators.

Abstract

Teaching factory merupakan model pembelajaran berbasis produk yang bertujuan mencetak lulusan kompeten dan siap kerja melalui kegiatan kontekstual. Salah satu implementasinya di SMK Negeri 2 Sukoharjo pada konsentrasi keahlian Usaha Pertanian Terpadu adalah pengembangan produk serbuk wedang uwuh sebagai bentuk inovasi dari minuman tradisional berbasis rempah. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik melalui pelatihan dan praktik langsung pembuatan serbuk wedang uwuh. Pelatihan dilakukan selama dua hari kepada 48 peserta didik kelas XI dari dua kelompok berbeda. Materi yang disampaikan meliputi teori komposisi dan manfaat wedang uwuh serta praktik pembuatan serbuk minuman tersebut. Hasil evaluasi terhadap kegiatan pelatihan ditunjukkan dengan adanya peningkatan rata-rata pengetahuan peserta didik sebesar 31% di kelas XI UPT A dan 36% di kelas XI UPT B, serta nilai post-test peserta yang melebihi ambang batas keberhasilan sebesar 70, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik terhadap inovasi produk berbasis lokal. Saran dari kegiatan ini adalah perlunya pengembangan lanjutan dalam bentuk pelatihan kewirausahaan agar peserta didik tidak hanya mampu memproduksi, tetapi juga memiliki keterampilan untuk mengelola dan memasarkan produk secara mandiri. Teaching factory dapat terus dikembangkan sebagai sarana pembelajaran sekaligus unit produksi yang bernilai jual.Teaching factory is a production-based learning model that aims to produce competent and work-ready graduates through contextual activities. One of its implementations at SMK Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the Integrated Agricultural Business expertise concentration is the development of wedang uwuh powder as a form of innovation from traditional spice-based drinks. This activity aims to improve students' understanding through training and direct practice of making wedang uwuh powder. The training was conducted for two days for 48 grade XI students from two different groups. The material presented includes the theory of composition and benefits of wedang uwuh, as well as the practice of making the drink powder. The results of the analysis showed an increase in the average knowledge of students by 31% in grade XI UPT A and 36% in grade XI UPT B. The post-test scores of participants exceeded the success threshold of 70, indicating the effectiveness of the direct practice approach. In conclusion, this training is effective in improving students' understanding of locally based product innovation. The suggestion from this activity is the need for further development in the form of entrepreneurship training so that students are not only able to produce, but also have the skills to manage and market products independently. Teaching factory can continue to be developed as a learning tool as well as a production unit with sales value.
