Jurnal Pengabdian Isola (JPI) promotes dissemination in the broad field of Community Services in Education, Science, and Technology (including teaching and learning process, social condition, science and science education, experimental demonstration in class/classroom experiments, teaching model and media, teacher/student/scientist perspectives, teacher professional development, etc.) with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region relating to community service activities. Contributions are expected from teachers, lecturers, educators, researchers, project managers, research administrators, and students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, researchers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles in community services Empirical studies in community services Practice-oriented papers in community services Case studies in community services Review of papers, books, and resources in community services. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style. The below mentioned areas are just indicative. The editorial board also welcomes innovative articles that redefine any Science and Technology field in community services. Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pendampingan penulisan proposal penelitian bagi siswa Madrasah Aliyah (MA) dan anggota Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Kimia di kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan, dengan tahap 1, 2, dan 3 berturut-turut dilakukan secara online-offline-online. Dari hasil workshop P2M ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa kegiatan pembinaan siswa MA dan guru-guru MGMP Kimia di wilayah Tasikmalaya terlaksana dengan baik pada setiap tahapnya. Kegiatan ini telah membantu siswa dalam menyusun draf proposal penelitian Olimpiade Penelitian Siswa Indonesia (OPSI). Dari kegiatan ini diperoleh 13 judul proposal yang dianggap layak untuk diikutsertakan pada kegiatan OPSI. Dari seluruh judul tersebut, terdapat 11 judul proposal yang berhasil lolos seleksi.This community service aims to provide an assistance in writing research proposals for the members of chemistry subject teacher deliberation (MGMP) and Madrasah Aliyah students in Tasikmalaya. The community service activities were carried out in three stages, with stages 1, 2, and 3 conducted online, offline, and online, respectively. Based on the results of this workshop, we concluded that the assistance program was executed effectively at every stage. This program helped students in preparing a draft research proposal for the Indonesian Student Research Olympiad (OPSI). Through this program, we generated 13 proposal titles deemed suitable for participation in OPSI. Out of these titles, 11 successfully passed the selection process.

Abstract

Capaian pembelajaran mata pelajaran IPA pada Kurikulum Merdeka terdiri atas dua elemen, yaitu pemahaman IPA dan keterampilan proses. Hal tersebut mendorong dilakukannya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada guru dan peserta didik dalam mengembangkan keterampilan proses sains. Kegiatan ini mencakup 3 tahapan kegiatan, yakni tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap persiapan dilakukan koordinasi antara tim PkM dan peserta PkM. Pada tahap pelaksanaan, dilakukan pelatihan dengan menerapkan teknik on and off-job training. Pelatihan dengan teknik on and off-job training meliputi pemberian materi dan workshop (off-job training), penerapan di kelas (on-job training), serta refleksi dan evaluasi (off-job training).  Pada tahap evaluasi, dilakukan penyebaran kuesioner kepada guru dan peserta didik. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan respon positif terhadap kegiatan PkM baik dari guru maupun peserta didik. Guru menunjukkan persentase yang tinggi terkait kepuasan terhadap kegiatan PkM (93,33%), relevansi materi PkM dengan kebutuhan guru (90%), dan kebermanfaatan kegiatan PkM (90%). Persentase yang tinggi juga diberikan oleh peserta didik terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan PkM. The learning outcomes of the science in Kurikulum Merdeka consist of two elements, that is scientific understanding and process skills. This encourages the conduct of community service activities with the aim of providing training to teachers and students in developing science process skills. This activity consists of 3 stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In the preparation stage, coordination between the team and participants are conducted. In the implementation stage, training is conducted using on and off-job training techniques. On and off-job training techniques includes providing materials and workshops (off-job training), implementation in classroom on-job training), as well as reflection and evaluation (off-job training). In the evaluation stage, questionnaires are distributed to teachers and students. The evaluation results show positive responses to the community service activities from both teachers and students.  Teachers show a high percentage of satisfaction with the activities (93,33%), the relevance of material to teacher’s needs (90%), and the benefits of activities (90%). Students also give a high percentage for the learning activities carried out in the community service activities.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan pergeseran metode pembelajaran yang semula dilaksanakan secara tatap muka menjadi pembelajaran jarak jauh. Salah satu aspek yang mengalami kendala akibat perubahan ini adalah pengelolaan pembelajaran praktikum kimia organik. Untuk mengatasi isu ini, penulis mengembangkan lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasis Google Form untuk menunjang pembelajaran jarak jauh pada praktikum kimia organik. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara daring pada September–November 2021 terhadap mahasiswa semester 3 Program Studi Kimia, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Kegiatan ini meliputi tahap penyusunan lembar kerja mahasiswa menggunakan Google Form untuk materi rekristalisasi dan kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT), tahap validasi, uji keterbacaan, dan uji coba pemakaian lembar kerja mahasiswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasis Google Form yang dikembangkan sudah valid dan layak digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran praktikum kimia organik. Lembar kerja ini memperoleh tanggapan yang positif dari mahasiswa yang ditunjukkan dengan perolehan skor yang sangat baik untuk aspek kemenarikan, kualitas kemudahan lembar kerja, dan kebermanfaatan masing-masing dengan skor 3,5 dari skala 4. Lembar kerja berbasis Google Form juga membantu meningkatkan minat belajar dan pemahaman mahasiswa terkait materi dan prosedur praktikum, meningkatkan partisipasi aktif mahasiswa selama kegiatan perkuliahan berlangsung, serta menjadikan pembelajaran praktikum secara daring lebih interaktif.The Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the learning method from in-person to remote learning. One of the challenging aspects of this change was managing the organic chemistry practical learning. To address this issue, we developed a Google Form-based student worksheet to facilitate the distance learning of the organic chemistry practicum. This activity was held online from September to November 2021 for the third-semester students at the Study Program of Chemistry, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The activity included designing the Google Form-based worksheet, focusing on recrystallization and thin-layer chromatography (TLC), validation, readability test, and trial use of the worksheet. The results showed that the developed Google Form-based worksheet was valid and feasible to use as one of the learning media for organic chemistry practical learning. The worksheet received positive feedback from students as evidenced by excellent scores in attractiveness, easiness, and usability, scoring 3.5 (out of 4) respectively. The Google Form-based worksheet could improve students’ interest in learning, assist students in understanding the practicum material and procedures, increase the active participation of students during the class, and contribute to a more interactive online learning experience.

Abstract

Salah satu tuntutan kurikulum merdeka adalah mengembangkan literasi dan numerasi, termasuk di dalamnya literasi sains. Literasi sains dapat dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah, yang kental dengan kontekstual. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membekalkan prinsip-prinsip literasi sains dalam perancangan dan implementasi pembelajaran kimia kontekstual. Metode dalam penulisan artikel ini adalah difusi IPTEK dengan mendeskripsikan hasil produk berupa lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD) bagi kelompok sasaran dan uji coba terbatas produk ketika diimplementasikan di sekolah dan advokasi berupa pendampingan ketika implementasi dan penulisan artikel jurnal. Kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat ini menghasilkan (1) tiga jenis LKPD dengan judul “Global Warming”, “Sintesis Biodiesel”, serta “Nanopartikel dan Nanoteknologi” yang mengakomodasi pembelajaran berbasis masalah; (2) aspek pengetahuan literasi sains yang meliputi konseptual, prosedural dan epistemik dapat diikuti dengan baik oleh seluruh peserta didik yang menggunakan LKPD yang dikembangkan; dan (3) dihasilkan dua artikel penelitian untuk diterbitkan di jurnal nasional.One of the demands of the Merdeka curriculum is to develop literacy and numeracy, including science literacy. Science literacy can be developed through problem-based learning, rich in contextual elements. This community service aimed to impart the principles of science literacy in designing and implementing contextual chemistry learning. The method used in writing this article was the diffusion of science and technology by describing the results of the product in the form of student worksheets for the target group and limited product trials when implemented in schools, as well as advocacy in the form of mentoring during implementation and journal article writing. This community service resulted in (1) three types of student worksheets entitled “Global Warming”, “Biodiesel Synthesis”, and “Nanoparticle and Nanotechnology” that accommodate problem-based learning; (2) the aspects of science literacy, including conceptual, procedural, and epistemic knowledge, can be well followed by all students using the developed worksheets; and (3) two research articles for publication in national journals.

Abstract

Tantangan abad 21 mengharuskan setiap orang memiliki keterampilan HOTS. Pengembangan keterampilan abad 21 dapat melalui pembelajaran berorientasi HOTS. Kemampuan guru dalam mengatasi tantangan tersebut masih memprihatinkan. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan guru diperlukan yang bertujuan untuk membangun penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan guru kimia SMA dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran berorientasi HOTS. Metode dalam PkM ini adalah pelatihan yang dilaksanakan secara hibrid pada tanggal 16 Oktober sampai 27 Desember 2023. Kegiatan pelatihan pengembangan pembelajaran berorientasi HOTS diikuti oleh 10 guru kimia SMA di Bandung.  Data keberhasilan pelatihan diperoleh dari hasil implementasi pembelajaran dan hasil observasi selama proses implementasi pembelajaran. Secara umum guru kimia dapat mengembangkan pembelajaran dan berhasil mengimplementasikan pembelajaran dari beberapa sekolah di Bandung. Hal ini menunjukkan pelatihan dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran berorientasi HOTS.The challenges of the 21st century require everyone to have HOTS skills. The 21st century skills development can be done through HOTS-oriented learning. Therefore, teacher training is needed which aims to build high school chemistry teachers' mastery of concepts and skills in developing HOTS-oriented learning. The method in this PkM is training carried out in a hybrid manner from 16 October to 27 December 2023. The HOTS-oriented learning development training activity was attended by 10 high school chemistry teachers in Bandung. Training success data was obtained from the results of learning implementation and observations during the learning implementation process. In general, chemistry teachers can develop learning and successfully implement learning from several schools in Bandung. This shows that training can improve teachers' mastery of concepts and skills in developing HOTS-oriented learning.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini berupa pelatihan pembuatan ecoprinting pada tote bag yang bertujuan untuk membiasakan peserta didik dalam menerapkan gaya hidup ramah lingkungan GERUSTIK (Gerakan Pengurangan Sampah Plastik).  Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan di salah satu SMP Negeri Kota Bandung pada Semester Ganjil 2023/2024. Partisipan dalam pengabdian ini adalah peserta didik anggota Science Club semester ganjil yang berjumlah 11 orang. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik sampling menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan pembuatan ecoprinting pada tote bag untuk mengajarkan gaya hidup ramah lingkungan GERUSTIK dapat melatihkan dan mengurangi penggunaan sampah plastik dalam kehidupan sehari-hari peserta didik.This community service involves training on eco-printing tote bags, aimed at encouraging students to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle as part of the GERUSTIK (Plastic Waste Reduction Movement). This community service activity was conducted at one of the Junior High Schools in Bandung City in the Odd Semester of 2023/2024. Eleven students from the Science Club participated in community service during the odd semester. The method used in this community service is descriptive qualitative. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The results of this community service activity demonstrate that training students in eco-printing tote bags can promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle and help reduce plastic waste in their daily lives.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengatasi kurangnya ketersediaan sabun cuci tangan di lingkungan sekolah dengan memanfaatkan potensi alam, khususnya ekstrak kemangi serta memberikan pemahaman kepada peserta didik tentang pentingnya penggunaan sabun cuci tangan organik dan menumbuhkan jiwa kewirausahaan melalui kegiatan workshop. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan meliputi pelaksanaan kegiatan workshop dengan partisipan sebanyak 10 peserta didik sains klub di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) di Jawa Barat. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengisian kuesioner pra dan pasca workshop untuk menganalisis perubahan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kepuasan peserta didik. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik menunjukkan ketertarikan dan keyakinan yang tinggi terhadap pembuatan sabun cuci tangan dari bahan alami. Evaluasi pasca workshop menunjukkan bahwa 90% peserta menilai kegiatan workshop ini efektif dan memberikan pengetahuan yang berguna. Diharapkan kegiatan workshop ini dapat memberikan dampak positif bagi peserta dan masyarakat dalam meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya kebersihan dan kesehatan, serta memacu minat kewirausahaan di kalangan peserta didik.The goal of this community service activity is to address the shortage of hand-washing soap in schools by utilizing natural resources, particularly basil extract. Additionally, it aims to educate students about the importance of using organic hand-washing soap and to promote an entrepreneurial spirit through hands-on workshop activities. The community service approach involved conducting workshop activities with ten students from the science club at a junior high school (SMP) in West Java. Data were collected by having participants complete pre- and post-workshop questionnaires, which were used to analyze changes in student knowledge, skills, and satisfaction. The results indicated that students exhibited a high level of interest and confidence in making hand-washing soap from natural ingredients. The post-workshop evaluation revealed that 90% of participants found the workshop effective and believed it provided valuable knowledge. It is hoped that this workshop will positively impact both the participants and the community by raising awareness about the importance of cleanliness and health while also fostering entrepreneurial interest among students.

Abstract

A step to be  a green school ini bertujuan untuk membentuk kesadaran diri peserta didik dalam menjaga pelestarian lingkungan melalui kegiatan sosialisasi serta pembuatan taman sekolah. Tahapan kegiatan ini meliputi: 1) persiapan; 2) penyuluhan proyek dan pembuatan taman sekolah; dan 3) tindak lanjut. Subjek kegiatan ini sebanyak 27 peserta didik kelas VII di salah satu sekolah di Jawa Barat. Untuk mengetahui dampak kegiatan, digunakan angket sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan terkait kesadaran peserta didik terhadap lingkungan. Hasil pengolahan dan analisis data menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik merasakan keuntungan dengan adanya taman sekolah dan terjadi peningkatan rata-rata skor kesadaran lingkungan sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan di semua aspek yang dievaluasi.This study aims to build students' self-awareness in preserving the environment through socialization activities and creating school gardens. This activity was conducted in several stages: 1) preparation; 2) project counseling and making school gardens; and 3) follow-up. After the implementation activities, the questionnaire results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The research subjects were 27 students from one of the schools in West Java. Data analysis revealed that students recognized a change in their environmental awareness before and after the implementation of the school garden. Students considered the benefits of the school garden, resulting in an increase in the average environmental awareness score across all evaluated aspects before and after the activity.

Kegiatan yang berfokus pada implementasi inovasi pembelajaran kimia dilakukan dalam rangkaian workshop dan implementasi inovasi pembelajaran di sekolah-sekolah. Rangkaian kegiatan setelah workshop berpusat pada Kelompok Bidang Keahlian (KBK) pilihan peserta sebagai wadah perencanaan implementasi inovasi pembelajaran. Salah satu kelompok peserta guru di KBK Literasi Sains dan Pengembangan Profesionalisme Guru Kimia telah berhasil mengimplementasikan inovasi pembelajaran berbasis Project-Based Learning (PjBL) pada topik Green Chemistry di kelas X di SMA Al Islam Boarding School, Cirebon. Melalui pembelajaran berbasis PjBL peserta didik terlibat aktif di dalam proses pembelajaran dan berhasil menyelesaikan permasalahan limbah minyak jelantah yang menjadi masalah nyata di dalam keseharian mereka melalui kegiatan eksperimen. Tahapan kegiatan pembelajaran meliputi eksplorasi, observasi, eksperimen, evaluasi, dan refleksi yang ditunjang dengan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) pembuatan biodiesel dari limbah minyak jelantah. Di akhir proses pembelajaran, untuk mengukur pemahaman pengetahuan peserta didik dilakukan asesmen tertulis.The community service initiative to enhance the academic skills of chemistry teachers in the KCD X region of West Java was successfully conducted using a hybrid online and offline method. It focused on innovative teaching strategies through workshops that were later applied in schools. One group within the research group of Science Literacy and Teachers Development successfully implemented a Project-Based Learning approach to the Green Chemistry topic for X-grade students at SMA Al Islam Boarding School in Cirebon. In project-based learning, students actively address the issue of used cooking oil waste through experimental activities. The learning process involves exploration, observation, experimentation, evaluation, and reflection, supported by Student Worksheets (LKPD) for biodiesel production. Students’ understanding is assessed with a written assessment at the end.
In-House Training Program and Socialization of the C-R-E-A-T-E Model for Teachers throughout Purwakarta Regency [Program In-House Training dan Sosialisasi Model C-R-E-A-T-E untuk Guru-guru se-kabupaten Purwakarta]

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memperluas informasi mengenai model C-R-E-A-T-E di kalangan para guru dan melatih kemampuan guru dalam pengimplementasian model ini di dalam pembelajaran mereka. Pelatihan ini dilakukan melalui metode in-house training dan sosialisasi yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 7 dan 8 Agustus 20024 di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Purwakarta. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 46 guru sekolah menengah di Kabupaten Purwakarta, Jawa Barat. Keberhasilan pelatihan ini diketahui dari respon guru terhadap program pelatihan tersebut sekaligus perspektif guru terhadap model C-R-E-A-T-E. Data ini dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dalam bentuk Google Formulir. Sebagian besar guru telah memiliki pemahaman yang baik terkait langkah pembelajaran model C-R-E-A-T-E. Selain itu, para guru setuju bahwa model C-R-E-A-T-E memiliki potensi positif untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dan merekomendasikan adanya pelatihan lanjutan untuk memperdalam pemahaman mereka. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa program in-house training dan sosialisasi ini berhasil membangun pengetahuan dan antusiasme guru terhadap model C-R-E-A-T-E.This community service program aims to enhance awareness of the C-R-E-A-T-E model and to equip teachers with the skills needed for its implementation in their classrooms. The training was conducted through in-house training and socialization on August 7 and 8, 2024, at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Purwakarta. A total of 46 high school teachers from Purwakarta Regency, West Java, participated in the event. The success of this training was demonstrated by the positive feedback from the teachers regarding the program and their views on the C-R-E-A-T-E model. Data was collected through a Google Forms questionnaire, revealing that most teachers have a good understanding of the C-R-E-A-T-E model’s learning steps. Additionally, the teachers agreed on the model's positive potential for application in their teaching and expressed a desire for further training to deepen their knowledge.
