Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of low critical thinking skills of class V students at SDN Wahir in science learning. Science learning encourages students to think at a higher level, analyze, design and create a product/work. Therefore it takes high-level thinking skills to achieve good science learning. This study aims to describe the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model that is implemented to overcome the problem of students' low critical thinking skills. This research is a qualitative research using classroom action research methods. Data were collected by observation, interviews, documentation and data acquisition were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. Researchers analyzed the data by means of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. This research was conducted in two cycles while the percentage of the first cycle was based on the implementation of learning with the results of students' critical thinking skills of 62.50% achieving the target of success indicators for critical thinking skills, and 68.75% of students' learning outcomes reaching the target exceeding the KKM. In cycle II there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills of 81.25% reaching the target with learning outcomes of 87.50% reaching the target above the KKM. The data shows that students' critical thinking skills in science learning have increased through the application of the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model.

Abstract

One of the efforts to overcome students' low understanding of the material surface area of cubes and blocks is through the application of innovative learning models. The research aims to improve students' understanding of the material of the surface area of cubes and blocks through Problem Based Learning models assisted by powerpoint media and props for building cubes and blocks. The study used the collaborative classroom action research model of Kemmis Mc Taggart. The participants of the study were 16 students consisting of 10 female students and 6 male students in grade VI SDN Teluk Pucung I. Researchers collected data through observation, interview, and test techniques. Observation and interview techniques are useful for obtaining data on the implementation of research. Meanwhile, test techniques are used to measure students' understanding in the form of description questions. Researchers analyze data through three stages, namely reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The data that has been analyzed is then validated through triangulation techniques. Research findings show an improvement in reading skills in each cycle. Referring to the research findings, the researcher concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by powerpoint media and teaching aids for building cubes and blocks can increase students' understanding of the material surface area of cubes and blocks

Abstract

This study aims to improve the reading comprehension of explanatory texts in Indonesian subjects, fifth grade elementary school students through a problem based learning model based on RADEC. The subjects of this study were the fifth grade students of SD Gemala Ananda as many as 16 people. The method of data collection was done through test techniques in the form of multiple choice test questions and non-tests in the form of observation sheets and interviews. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle having systematic steps consisting of action planning, implementation, and observation and reflection. The results of this study indicate that the use of the RADEC-based problem-based learning model can improve the reading comprehension of the fifth grade elementary school explanatory text. In addition, student activities in learning are increasing and more interactive. Students are also more critical and dare to express their ideas, and can find answers to the problems presented by the teacher.

Abstract

Character education based on local culture is values education, character education, moral education, and character education which aims to develop students' abilities to make good and bad decisions, maintain what is good according to their outlook on life and science. This is a challenge for the author to study more deeply. This research was carried out to answer the following problems: The theoretical basis of this research is character education theory by Thomas Lickona, social learning theory by Bandura and behaviourism theory by Burrus Frederic Skinner. The type of research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The technique for determining informants uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, literature study, documentation and using qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and verification or drawing conclusions.

Abstract

Society must be able to adapt in various ways due to the rapid progress of science and technology in the era of globalization. One of the components is education, which is fundamental for the progress of a country. Science process skills are skills for developing the perspective needed to build natural science. This research was conducted to see whether science process skills improved after applying the STEM learning model to environmental conservation business materials, in class V students at SDN 1 Ciledug located in the city of West Bandung. This research was carried out by designing a pretest-posttest group and using a science process skills test, based on the indicators that had been designed. Data analysis to determine differences in perceptions regarding improving students' science process skills, before and after implementing the STEM learning model. The results of data analysis show that science process abilities have increased on the topic of environmental conservation efforts with the application of the STEM learning model. The resulting score with the average value of science process skills increased from application of 40.51 to 85.11. This improvement in skills can be seen from the N-Gain result value of 0.75 which is in the high classification. Thus, the research results that have been presented suggest that teachers can use the STEM learning model as an alternative in science subjects, especially to improve science process skills.
