Abstract

This community service was carried out through the development of a classroom design model located at Jl. Nila Gang AZ No. 7, Limbungan Baru Village, Rumbai Pesisir District, Pekanbaru City. This is a form of solution to the problems of space requirements, facilities, and land limitations available at the location, with the need for effective and efficient space resulting in a comfortable, safe, and contextual design. This design is expected to have an impact on the partner's problems in increasing the number of new students and also produce a design that complies with government regulations on building engineering, resulting in an educational building design that meets the needs that can be utilized for the construction process later. The implementation was carried out starting from conducting a location survey to identify space requirements, analyzing environmental aspects, architectural aspects, and drafting structural modules in the form of two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings and animations. At each stage, presentations and discussions are held to obtain input so that the partner's problems can be resolved. The results of this building design are in the form of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional spatial layout drawings. To maintain the continuity of the program, ongoing assistance will be provided. Abstract

Saloloang Village in Penajam District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency has micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that play an important role in supporting the local community’s economy. MSME actors still face challenges in improving business competitiveness, particularly in terms of business legality and strengthening visual brand identity. This community service program through the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) activity aims to improve MSME competitiveness through strengthening business legality and marketing innovation based on logo creation. The method used is a participatory descriptive approach through MSME surveys, coordination visits with the village administration, and the implementation of socialization activities for business actors. The socialization activities provide an understanding of the importance of business legality and the procedures for registering a Business Identification Number through the Online Single Submission system. The socialization activities also provide explanations regarding the concept of logos, the functions of logos, and the elements of effective logos as visual product identities. The results of the activity show an increase in MSME actors’ understanding of the importance of business legality ownership as a basis for legal protection and business development. Participants also understand the role of logos as visual identities that can strengthen product image and support promotional strategies. The findings indicate that strengthening business legality and developing visual branding can serve as strategic steps to improve MSME competitiveness in a sustainable manner

Abstract

Waste management remains a persistent environmental challenge in many rural areas of Indonesia, including Saloloang Village, Penajam Paser Utara Regency. Although the community demonstrates strong social cohesion, the absence of structured and accessible educational media on waste segregation has limited the effectiveness of local environmental management efforts. This community service program aimed to enhance public awareness and promote proper waste segregation practices through the design, production, and installation of a bilingual educational board in the coastal area of the village. A descriptive participatory approach was employed, involving site observation, informal consultation with local stakeholders, content development based on visual communication principles, and collaborative implementation. The educational board presents clear information on organic and inorganic waste categories and incorporates an interactive convex mirror element to increase visual engagement and attract visitors’ attention. Observational findings after installation indicated positive responses from both residents and visitors, particularly school-aged children, who showed interest in reading and interacting with the board. The initiative demonstrates that integrating informative content with creative visual elements can strengthen environmental messaging in public spaces. However, the evaluation was limited to descriptive observations without quantitative measurement of behavioral change. Overall, the program contributes to reinforcing community-based waste management efforts by providing a sustainable visual communication medium in a high-traffic coastal area

Abstract

Cassava farming is one of the agricultural sectors with the potential to improve community income in West Dumai District, Dumai City. However, most farmers still face challenges in managing production costs because they have not implemented a systematic financial recording system and calculation of Cost of Production (COP). This condition makes it difficult for farmers to determine selling prices based on actual production costs, resulting in inaccurate profit calculations. This community service program aimed to improve farmers' knowledge and skills in calculating Cost of Production (COP) as a basis for determining the selling price of harvested products. The method used was Participatory Action, which included preparation, observation, socialization, training, mentoring, COP calculation practice, distribution of mentoring modules, and evaluation. The results showed that farmers were able to identify production cost components, classify fixed and variable costs, prepare simple production cost records, and calculate Cost of Production based on their farming conditions. In addition, farmers began to understand the importance of cost information as a basis for determining selling prices and evaluating business efficiency. The distribution of mentoring modules also supported program sustainability by providing practical guidelines for farmers to independently implement cost recording and COP calculation. Overall, the mentoring program had a positive impact on improving farmers' managerial capacity, strengthening business decision-making abilities, and supporting more efficient, professional, and sustainable farm management.
