Abstract

There are still many mothers who have not been able to provide breast milk to their babies for various reasons that cause the failure of exclusive breastfeeding. The prior study show that knowledge and self-efficacy were factors that cause failure of mothers to breastfeed. This study aims to examine the effect of breastfeeding education on primigravid knowledge and self-efficacy. This research is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design with a pre and post with a control group approach. The research was conducted in June - August 2022, in three Public Health Center at Denpasar City. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 66 respondents. The results showed that there was a significant difference between knowledge and self-efficacy before and after treatment with p-value 0.05. Likewise, there is a significant difference between knowledge and self-efficacy before and after in the 2 groups. This shows that breastfeeding education has an effect on increasing knowledge and self-efficacy of primigravidas. Knowledge must be built comprehensively since pregnancy so mother is ready to breastfeed. In addition, knowledge is also related to the formation of self-efficacy. More intensive efforts are needed from health facilities and health workers in providing breastfeeding education. Keywords: Breastfeeding Education, Knowledge and Self Efficacy

Abstract

Abstract

Injuries after childbirth are one of the causes of labour infections among other causes. Factors that can accelerate wound healing include nutrition. Nutrition plays a role in helping the process of metabolism, maintenance and formation of new tissue. Egg whites contain more nutrients than egg yolks which can heal perineal suture wounds in mothers after childbirth. The study population was postpartum mothers with perineal suture wounds at Kramat Public Health Center on January 7-February 2, 2019. This study used a quasi-experimental design with the Pretest and Posttest With Control Group Design approach, where respondents divided into intervention groups and control groups of 20 respondents. The wound degree observed at the beginning of the observation and the rate of wound healing at the end. In the intervention group, the respondent required to eat five egg whites for six days. Data analysis was performed with ANOVA test (α: 5%; 95% Confident Interval) to see the effect of consumption patterns of chicken egg white with the level of wound healing perineum. The results showed an influence of consumption patterns of boiled chicken egg white on the rate of perineal suture wounds healing as indicated by the higher number of respondents with a reasonable wound healing rate in the intervention group of 62.5% (5 people) compared to the control group, which was 42.9% (3 people) and from the Anova test results obtained a p-value of 0.015. Thus it is recommended that postpartum mothers consume many egg whites in order to accelerate the healing of perineal wounds to prevent infections due to perineal wounds. Keywords: Egg white, Perineal suture wounds  Healing

Abstract

Abstract

Breast milk production is crucial for mothers to provide exclusive breast milk to their babies. Holistic care in midwifery offers an alternative or complementary approach to conventional medical treatment. It aimed to enhance the health of postpartum mothers through education and various health services, recognizing that health issues are not solely physical and can be addressed through non-medical interventions. This study investigated the impact of Hypnolactation and self-talk on breast milk production in postpartum mothers. The research utilized a quasi-experimental design, specifically, a pretest-posttest with a control group. The holistic care model implemented communication science techniques to promote relaxation, deep breathing, positive suggestions, and confidence building in postpartum mothers. The study was conducted in the Meteseh Boja Kendal village area from June to August 2023. The analysis employed paired testing, with a sample of 35 out of 42 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling. The results revealed that 100% of mothers who received Hypnolactation achieved sufficient breast milk levels, whereas 66.7% of those who practiced self-talk achieved the same, with 33.3% having inadequate levels. Hypnolactation demonstrated greater efficacy in enhancing breast milk production in the Meteseh Boja Kendal area. Applying hypnolactation and self-talk increased the secretion of endorphins, prolactin, and oxytocin, potentially influencing the mother's breastfeeding ability and the body's capacity to produce breast milk. Future research should consider using action research methods, expanding sample coverage over an extended period, and examining additional factors such as postpartum mothers' dietary intake.
