Abstract

This study examines the use of hashtags #kaburajadulu as a form of public criticism that is formed and spread through social media algorithms. This hashtag represents the emotional and collective response of people, especially the younger generation, to economic pressures, social inequality, and structural injustice. With a qualitative approach through non-participatory observation and web scraping on platform X (formerly Twitter), the analysis was carried out using Entman's (1993) framing model to identify the narrative construction, the causes of the problem, the moral evaluation, and the form of symbolic solutions offered by netizens. The findings suggest that #kaburajadulu act as an advocacy medium and a digital social therapy space that strengthens emotional solidarity. Additionally, social media algorithms contribute to expanding the reach and pervasiveness of hashtags, making them an effective digital protest tool. This research fills a gap in the literature by highlighting the relationship between public expression of anxiety and the algorithmic mechanisms that determine the visibility of criticism in the digital space. Therefore, viral hashtags such as #kaburajadulu cannot be seen as a momentary phenomenon, but rather as a representation of the construction of collective discourse in the era of algorithm-based communication.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the transformation of organizational communication of the Medan City Government by integrating Islamic values to create an advanced and conducive society. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, which focuses on a deep understanding of the subject's experience in a natural context. Primary data were collected through non-participant observations, while secondary data were obtained through relevant literature reviews. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, with data validity tested through triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that the transformation of communication based on Islamic values in the Medan City Government has strengthened transparency, public participation, and public trust in the government. However, there are challenges in maintaining inclusivity and increasing community involvement in the decision-making process. On the other hand, the use of digital technology provides a great opportunity to expand the reach of communication and strengthen the relationship between the government and the community.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the reform of the Indonesian government's organizational communication system in improving the quality of public services. Based on data from various sources, it was found that the low community satisfaction index (73.42), the level of public participation which is still below the national target (58.7%), and the high number of complaints and cases of misuse of the village budget reflect the weak transparency and effectiveness of government communication. The research method used is a qualitative approach with case studies, through interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The results of the study show that there are seven main obstacles, including rigid bureaucracy, low communication literacy of apparatus, limited information technology, and lack of participatory strategies. Effective communication reform needs to be based on three main pillars: human resource capacity building, accountable digital technology integration, and opening up spaces for inclusive public participation. By building an adaptive, transparent, and collaborative communication system, public services can become more responsive and trusted by the public. This research makes a theoretical and practical contribution in shaping democratic governance and encouraging the transformation of bureaucratic culture towards a more open and socially just service system.

Abstract

This article examines the interpersonal communication strategy between coaches and men's basketball athletes at Budi Luhur University to increase achievement motivation. The focus of the discussion is directed at the communication model used, the role of interpersonal communication, and obstacles that arise in the interaction between coaches and athletes. The qualitative approach is used in in-depth interviews with the coach and relevant athletes and direct observations of the training dynamics. The analysis results show that the trainer applies an interactive and transactional communication model, including direct instructions, evaluation, and effective feedback. It was also found that interpersonal communication elements such as openness, empathy, emotional support, positive attitudes, and equality played a crucial role in forming strong and conducive interpersonal relationships for athletes' achievements. However, there are still challenges in the form of inequality between some athletes who need further attention through open and transparent communication from the coach. Overall, effective interpersonal communication contributes significantly to increasing achievement motivation, the quality of relationships in the team, and achieving optimal sports achievement goals.

Abstract

This study focuses on determining the extent to which brand awareness content on the Instagram account of Harris Hotel & Convention Cibinong City Mall Bogor can influence guest interest in staying. Through a quantitative approach, this study involved 100 respondents who were followers of the Instagram account. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression to determine how much influence brand awareness content had on guest interest in staying. The results of the study showed a positive and significant influence of brand awareness content on guest interest in staying at Harris Hotel & Convention Cibinong City Mall Bogor. This is reflected in the regression coefficient value of 0.658 and a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05). In other words, the more effective the brand awareness content displayed through Instagram, the greater the guest interest in choosing Harris Hotel as a place to stay. This study provides recommendations for hotels to maximize their brand awareness content strategy on Instagram. Presenting creative, relevant, and interesting content according to audience preferences is an important key to increasing the attraction and interest of guests to stay.

Abstract

The Jurnal Adhyaksa program is a public legal education initiative developed by the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia through its YouTube channel. This study aims to analyze the communication strategy applied in the program by referring to communication strategy theory and the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing observation of twelve episodes, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the SWOT framework to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the communication strategy implemented. The findings reveal that the program has applied most principles of cognitive multimedia, including coherence, signaling, modality, and contiguity, which contribute to the effectiveness of legal message delivery through visual media. The communication strategy also includes the construction of informative, persuasive, and educational messages, along with the use of multiplatform media. However, limitations were identified in content segmentation, audience interactivity, and the adaptation of communication style to Generation Z’s characteristics. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening a more participatory, personalized, and cross-media communication strategy to sustainably support public digital legal literacy.

Abstract

Visual elements play a strategic role in shaping consumer perceptions of advertisements, particularly within the context of contemporary digital communication. This study analyzes the representation of male figures in the Head & Shoulders advertisement titled "Joe Taslim X Fadil Jaidi: Who Will Be the Next Brand Ambassador of Head & Shoulders?" published on May 27, 2022. The advertisement draws attention by featuring two public figures with contrasting characteristics: Joe Taslim, who embodies conventional masculinity, and Fadil Jaidi, who is portrayed as relaxed and humorous. Utilizing Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach, this research aims to examine how the myth of the ideal male figure is constructed, and how the tension between idealized and more casual representations of masculinity generates specific ideological meanings within the advertisement. The findings reveal that the advertisement constructs a myth of inclusive modern masculinity through the negotiation between ideal and realistic male portrayals. This study indicates that the advertisement functions not merely as a promotional tool, but also as a vehicle for disseminating the ideology that self-confidence and an ideal appearance are attainable for all men through personal grooming. Such representational strategies expand market reach, challenge traditional masculinity stereotypes, and leverage digital media as a platform for cultural influence.

Abstract

This project examines the development of digital promotional media in the form of an e-magazine for PRFM News Channel Radio, with the goal of increasing audience reach and engagement in the digital era. The uniqueness of this project lies in the integration of the Design Thinking approach by Nigel Cross within the context of local radio media—an area that has rarely been explored in previous studies, which mostly focus on social media or podcasts as the main promotional tools. The method used is a qualitative approach based on Design Thinking stages: Quantify the Problem (identifying PRFM’s low audience engagement on digital channels through observation and interviews with active listeners), Generate Concepts (developing various visual and promotional content ideas), Refine Concepts (testing design preferences with target audience respondents), Select a Concept (choosing the final design based on their feedback), Design, and Present (implementing and publishing the e-magazine). The emagazine was designed with a modern and professional layout using software such as Adobe InDesign. It was published through the Hyzine Flipbook platform, which offers interactive features and easy access via desktop and mobile devices. In conclusion, the transformation of PRFM Radio’s promotional media into a digital e-magazine has proven effective in strengthening brand presence, improving audience engagement, and opening new business opportunities in the digital media landscape

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of feminist propaganda on the TikTok platform as a representation of the dynamics of Gen Z women's identity and expression in the era of Society 5.0. Through descriptive qualitative methods and content analysis, this study examines feminist narratives that appear in video content and accompanying digital interactions. The results of the study show that TikTok is not only an entertainment space, but also a discursive arena that forms a collective awareness of gender equality issues. However, in practice, most of the narratives circulating have shifted from the essence of inclusive feminism to ideologically biased forms of sensational expression, such as reverse sexism, patriarchal generalizations, and the imposition of moral standards. This phenomenon creates tension between the values of digital freedom of expression and the principle of equality in Islam. This research recommends the need for digital literacy based on spirituality and manners so that the digital space is not only a vehicle for ideological struggle, but also a means of da'wah that builds a just civilization. Thus, feminist propaganda needs to be critically reviewed so that it does not shift into value extremism that is counterproductive to the ideals of gender justice in an Islamic perspective.

Abstract

This study examines the construction and mobilization of identity politics in Indonesia's democratic space and its implications for social cohesion and the quality of democracy. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this study found that identity politics in Indonesia is consciously utilized by various political actors through symbols, religious and cultural narratives, and social media. Identity politics has been proven to form affectation-based political loyalty, but it has an impact on the exclusion, polarization, and delegitimization of democratic institutions. Phenomena such as the 2017 Jakarta Regional Elections and the 2019 General Election are concrete examples of how identity is used as an effective electoral strategy, but risks deepening social tensions. Nevertheless, identity politics also has constructive potential if it is managed within the framework of inclusive local culture and supported by Islamic communication principles such as tasamuh (tolerance), shura (deliberation), and ukhuwah (brotherhood). These values are able to form a harmonious space for dialogue and encourage fair political participation. This study recommends the need to strengthen multicultural education, public policies that support social integration, and the mainstreaming of cross-identity communication ethics as the foundation of a sustainable, inclusive, and upholding democracy that upholds Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
