Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the contemporary relevance of Tibb al-Nabawi (Prophetic Medicine) within modern healthcare, highlighting its role as a holistic, preventive, and spiritually grounded system of well-being. Rooted in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Tibb al-Nabawi integrates physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of health, offering principles that align closely with today’s preventive medicine, including moderation in diet, hygiene, fasting, physical activity, and balanced living. The paper explores widely practiced Prophetic remedies—such as honey, black seed, dates, Hijāmah (cupping), and spiritual therapies like duʿā’, Qur’anic recitation, and dhikr—and examines how modern scientific studies increasingly validate their therapeutic benefits in areas such as immune function, metabolic regulation, cardiovascular balance, and mental resilience. In addition, the research highlights the gradual incorporation of Tibb al-Nabawi into Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and integrative health models across hospitals and wellness programs, particularly through herbal treatments, dietary counselling, and culturally sensitive spiritual care. The study further discusses advancements in scientific methodologies, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and analytical tools such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), which contribute to the standardization, safety, and evidence-based evaluation of Prophetic remedies. Moreover, the paper surveys emerging technological developments—such as mobile health applications, telemedicine, artificial intelligence (AI), wearable devices, and blockchain systems—that support personalized, secure, and accessible delivery of Prophetic medical guidance. Overall, this study demonstrates that Tibb al-Nabawi presents a timeless, ethically grounded, and scientifically compatible framework for modern integrative healthcare, offering a patient-centred and spiritually enriched approach that aligns with global shifts toward holistic wellness.

Abstract

Colonialism functioned not merely through territorial conquest or economic exploitation but through a systematic reordering of knowledge that produced epistemicide—the delegitimization and displacement of non-Western epistemologies. This study aims to examine colonialism as an epistemological project and to analyze its impact on Indian and Islamic knowledge traditions. Using qualitative library research and critical textual analysis, the paper engages the works of Frantz Fanon, Achille Mbembe, and Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak to conceptualize epistemic violence operating at psychological, institutional, and discursive levels. Placing these theorists in dialogue with Indian epistemology (pramāṇa) and Islamic epistemology (ʿilm, tawḥīd, and adab), the study argues that colonial modernity fragmented holistic knowledge systems and imposed Eurocentric hierarchies of reason. The paper concludes that epistemic sovereignty and knowledge plurality are essential conditions for genuine decolonization and for reconstituting intellectual traditions beyond colonial categories.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Islamic authority in Indonesia in the digital era through a systematic literature review, with particular focus on the hijrah movement. The research analyzes scholarly articles, books, and academic publications discussing digital Islam, religious authority, and youth religious movements in Indonesia. The review identifies key themes, including the growing influence of the hijrah movement among urban Muslim youth, the role of digital platforms in shaping religious identity, and the shift of authority from traditional institutions such as pesantren and established ulama to social media preachers and influencers. The findings indicate that digital media has restructured religious authority, expanded access to Islamic knowledge, and transformed patterns of religious communication. However, the literature also highlights emerging challenges, including tensions between conventional and digital religious actors, the commercialization of da'wah, and the fragmentation of religious interpretations. Overall, the study concludes that Islamic authority in Indonesia has become increasingly decentralized, dynamic, and contested in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the orientalist approach in Islamic studies which is often influenced by Western epistemological frameworks such as secularism, rationalism and empiricism, which leads to incommensurability in understanding Islamic teachings as a whole. Study problems arise if this approach tends to reduce revelation, question the authenticity of hadith and ignore Islamic scientific traditions, while at the same time producing interpretations that are not in line with the principles of Islamic aqidah and epistemology. To achieve the objectives of the study, a qualitative approach was used through library analysis of primary sources such as the Koran and hadith and sources including orientalist works and writings by Muslim scholars. The main objective of this study is to analyze the orientalist approach in Islamic studies and assess its epistemological weaknesses based on the Islamic epistemological framework which is based on revelation, reason and the scientific traditions of ulama. The results of the study show that the Orientalist approach contains several main weaknesses such as reductionism in revelation, skepticism towards hadith, use of Western hermeneutic methodology without adjustments. Apart from that, there is a significant epistemological incommensurability between Western and Islamic frameworks which causes the resulting interpretation to be non-holistic and less authentic. This study emphasizes that understanding Islam needs to be based on Islamic epistemology which integrates revelation, reason and ulama traditions to produce a more precise, balanced and authoritative analysis.
