Abstract

The art of shadow puppets or wayang has been established as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Leathermade shadow puppets or wayang kulit purwa as one of many wayang performances has been the most hegemonic, receiving much attention nationally as well as internationally until today. Therefore, there is an assumption that “the real” wayang is wayang kulit purwa. Globalization, commercialization, and the development of communication technology of popular culture influence greatly the advancement of wayang kulit purwa performances or even other wayang shows. Every stake holder of shadow puppet art truly needs the creative adaptive ability so that wayang can still be sustainable in the future.

Abstract

In everyday life%2C we are overwhelmed by visual information. The written information has more limited scope%2C particularly in educational milieu. Visual information is mostly practiced by ads which also exploit women for embellishment resulting in gender bias. Visual discourse needs to studying to educate ourselves in perceiving and interpreting ads at higher level. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari informasi visual lebih banyak menerpa kita. Informasi tulis lebih kecil lingkupnya%2C terutama hanya di lingkungan sekolah saja. Abstract

The legend of Calon Arang is one of many legends known by the Indonesian people. This legend can be said as a unique one, considering that this widely known dramatari (a mix between drama and tari = dance) Legenda Calon Arang is only performed in Bali, but actually the legend itself came from Kediri, East Java. Nevertheless, in today's society, this tradition is starting to be left behind. Calon Arang is only held on special occasions and considered to be sacred, which means this performance can't be held at any moment. The threat also comes from foreign culture such as popular culture, that usually together with the offers of new mass production technology products, causes more and more people to easily accept foreign cultures, but slowly neglecting and leaving behind their original tradition. This research is conducted as a further step to bring back the legend of Calon Arang, as one of Indonesian’s heritage, using new media which is digital media in the form of digital application. Based on theories of the visual storytelling theory, digital storytelling, and also visual language/Wimba that are presented in the form of digital application, a media that is widely known by today's society, the expectation is to make modern society know and enjoy the story, and also its philosophical values.

Abstract

Graphic design product is produced by many creative process after many lay out%2C have been made comprehensively. While producing design%2C graphic designer usually have their own style. Style that is produced by graphic designer is an intellectual property product that must be protected. In other way%2C the right of intellectual property as a law product%2C trying to protect the creation of graphic designer throught the law of mark and copy right. Abstract

Articulate intrinsic values is necessary for further progress to be made in design instruction. The main inter-related areas in which such values is the language media of design and the modes of thought which relate particulary to desaign abilities. Many theories indicate that tought is progessec externalized and directed by acquisition of a suitable language medium. Media appropriate to the progression and development of the style of thought might therefore be looked upon a essential means for the encouragement of learning and instruction.
