Abstract

The information presented in the seminar is obtained from the research in respect of tradeopenness, competitiveness and flows of our export and import of industrial productsbetween Indonesia and its trading partners in Asia. Research has concluded that tradeopenness has positive relationship with our economic growth.. Indonesian trade flows hassignificant opportunity to augment its performance, substantiated by our finding on speedof convergence test in our bilateral trade with the partners, suggesting that they aredesirable partners for an Asian FTA Further we find that our international trade flows aHeckscher-Ohlin model more than increasing return or products differentiation or still aninter-industry trade rather than intra industry trade, substantiated with positive coefficientTCI variable and low Grubel Lloyd index. However please note that some of our industrialproducts have already well positioned with high Grubel Lloyd index. Combining the abovefindings, the Indonesian international trade policy should be addressed toward increasing itsintra industry trade through appropriate investments and industrial restructuring.Key words: gravity model, openness, trade flows, inter-intra industry trade Asian FTA

Abstract

Activity floating net cage (Karamba Jaring Apung-KJA) in Reservoir Cirata have beenover capacity, so that give the serious problems such as water quality degradation,algae-blooming, and up-welling. The objective of this research is to find the optimuminput cage net without and with cost externality. The objective, was solved by costfunction of KJA (cage net) culture activity with/without externality model. Theexternality of cage net culture to water body of Waduk Cirata has been gived a sedimentaccumulation until 325711 ton/year and make degradate of water quality. For cage netculture, water quality is environment input. Model research involved this externality inmodel of cost function. It is by internalize cost environmet as the one’s of costproduction. Input of production factor of KJA culture activity without externality werecost of seed, feed and labour, and with externality was added by cost of recoverysediment by dredging or exploition. Optimal input of seed 46,28 kg/plot, feed 1685,02kg/plot, 122,09 work person daya (wpd)/unit, activity without externality and optimalharvest product 938,16 kg. While for KJA activity with cost environment, seed wassignificant change, 31,66 kg and feed 756,24 kg, 50,92 work person day person/unit,and amount of sediment 15,25 kg/unit with optimal harvest 644,6 kg/plot. Using of theCirata Data Environment and CAD_S tool software, the carrying capacity of ReservoirCirata for KJA culture activity have found was 43.679 ton/year. For activity withoutexternality, amounts optimal of KJA 15585 plots, and seed using 1464,7 kg/plot. Forwith-externality activity 21133 plots KJA, and seed using 756,24 kg/plot. It is mean adecreasing feed costs 44,88%.Keywords: externality, cost, cost function, optimal input, optimal product, carryingcapacity

Abstract

Agricultural sector is the main water user, so it is important to manage water use toimprove its utilization and efficiency. In utilizing water resources there are a lot ofperceived problems among users of water. Based on many previous studies, some possibleefforts to optimize water utilization are by improving the cropping pattern and cultivationtechniques. Regarding this matter, the first aspect to note is the characteristic of the region. For the agricultural sector, regional characteristics and rainfall pattern are importantreferences to be considered in setting up water management strategy so the use of watereither from rain or irrigation causes no damage to the environment and can provide optimalresults. This strategy can be applied in determining the type of commodity, time of plantingand cropping patterns related to rainfall patterns to avoid harvest failure. Rotation ofcommodities and use of mulch are also some strategies to use water optimally andefficiently. Rotation of commodities is well-developed among farmers. The use of strawmulch to improve the soil has also been developed in cropping systems on rice-palawijafarming.Key words: water resources, utilization, optimalization, efficiency

Abstract

The increasing consumption of fossil fuels and the limitation of its availability are twomajor causes of the fluctuating trends of fossil fuels prices. They are also believed tohave created instability of certain feedstock prices since alternative energy used as thesubstitution of fossil fuels is based on this feedstock as well. This research is aimed onreviewing the correlation between the dynamic movement of the prices of crude palmoil (CPO) which is used in the production of biodiesel and the government policy ondeveloping renewable fuels using dynamics system approach. In particular, this researchwill examine whether policy to try increase CPO export tax to 20 % and to allocate 50%of CPO production for domestic need will influence the effort of fullfilling mandatorytarget for biodiesel to contribute at least 5% of the total national energy consumption by2025 and CPO prices trends.Keyword: dynamics system, CPO, biodiesel, fossil fuel

Abstract

Smallholder farmers in swadaya scheme continuously depend on wholesalers as thefarmers need the wholesalers to market their oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to theoil palm factory. Relationship among wholesalers (toke) and smallholder farmers isreferred to as the patron-client relationship. In such a relationship, the wholesalers arecalled patron, while smallholders are called clients. The research objective was todetermine the marketing channels of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) of swadaya-scheme farmers and to analyze the factors which lead to patron-client relationship. Theresearch was conducted in Mahato and North Tambusai Village, North Tambusai Sub-District, Rokan Hulu District. This research used survey method. Sampling for oil palmfarmers was conducted by multistage random sampling. There are three marketingchannels of FFB identified. Marketing Channel 1 starts from farmers to wholesalers(non SPB) to wholesalers (SPB), where the non-SPB wholesalers only use the SPB ofthe SPB wholesalers to sell to oil palm factory. Marketing channel 2 starts from farmersto wholesalers (non SPB), to wholesalers (SPB) and then to the factory. MarketingChannel 3 starts from farmers to wholesalers (SPB) and to the factory. Factorsinfluencing the formation of patron-client relationship among wholesalers (toke) andsmallholders are: (1) FFB marketing of farmers highly depends on the wholesalers, (2)high farming costs, and (3) farmers are tied with a lot of debt to wholesalers foreveryday needs, children's education and health cost. Keywords: patron-client, toke (wholesalers), marketing channels, oil palm

Abstract

This study aims to determine the farmer's perception of sharia finance products. Theresearch method used is descriptive qualitative. The unit of analysis is the study of oilpalm farmers in Kampar regency which become customers of products murabahafinancing of oil palm plantations Riau Sharia Bank Branch Pekanbaru. Study samplewas determined by using Random Sampling Proportional to account for 50 farmers. Theresearch was conducted from January to April 2011. The results showed the newproduct adoption decisions (murabaha financing products of oil palm plantations) isinfluenced by five characteristics perceived by farmers as customers, namely relativeadvantage, suitability (compatibility), complexity, it is likely to be tried first (triability),and ease communicated (communicability). The more superior product murabahafinancing of oil palm plantations Riau ShariaBank compared with existing products(loans from conventional banks or financing from other sharia banks), the greater theadoption decisions of farmers. The higher the conformity of products murabahafinancing of oil palm plantations Riau Sharia Bank, the more likely farmers' adoptiondecisions. Increasingly difficult financing products of oil palm plantations murabahaRiau Sharia Bank understand and use, the lower the likelihood of adoption decisions offarmers. The easier the financing products of oil palm plantations murabaha Riau ShariaBank to try and communicate, the more likely farmers' adoption decisions.Key words: perception, new product characteristic, adoption decision
