Abstract

This article is a reinterpretation of the meaning of Hadith with the interconnection-integration paradigm, focused on the study of the Hadith about women's reason and religion through psychological approach. In the Hadith, Rasulullah stated that most of the inhabitants of hell are women, their minds are less (na>qis}a>t 'aql), their religion is also less (na>qis}a>t di>n). Textually, the word looks nuanced in gender discrimination. It seems to mean that women's intelligence is not as good as men's intelligence, neither religion nor faith-women are not as good as male religion. Therefore, it is understandable if the feminists call the element of misogyny in it. However, if examined contextually, based on the search asba>b al-wuru>d, the psychological study of women's reasoning and the study of the reality of their lives, it will come to the conclusion that there is no misogynous element in it. On the contrary, there are scientific cues that need further study behind the word. Some things that need further study as well as the formulation of the problem of this article is about to the reality of social life of women who attracted the attention of the Prophet, so he had a will to them to say istighfar more, a woman's brain changes with some sense function that distinguishes it from the male brain; including differences in hormonal changes and its adjustment to the menstrual cycle affecting some sense functions and diminish their role in spiritual activity.

Abstract

The study of Shi’ah is always interesting to be discussed and researched, both in terms of theology and scientific concepts. Shi’ah Ima>miyah whose entire religious building pivots on the Imam, of course, has implications in many ways, including in the hadith field. The position of the Imam as one source of teaching has an impact on the conception of the hadith and its validity criteria. The question is, whether in determining the quality of traditions among Shi’ah refers to the validity of this tradition? How is the process of criticism of hadith that used? And what about the results of the validity test? This article aimed to test the consistency between the validity of the hadith that has been formulated with the implementation process in determining the quality of the hadith. This research is a literature study in the hadith field. Data was collected from various literary works, articles, and other forms of information that were scientific and had a close relationship with the themes discussed. The data obtained were analyzed objectively by comparing one opinion with another, the conclusion was obtained from the research problem. This study concludes: first, in determining the quality of the hadith, the Shi’ah sect is guided by the validity of the formulated Hadith. Second, the assessment of the validity of the hadith through the process of criticism of the narrators in sanad by using their version of the book rija> l al-h}adi>th. However, because the Shi’ah believes that everything sourced from the Imam can be accepted as hujjah, then criticism of the matan is not carried out on the condition that the quality of the sanad is valid. Third, the implementation of the validity of the hadith has implications for the quality of multilevel hadith, namely s}ah}i>h}, h}asan, muwaththaq and d}a’i>f. Ketiga, implementasi kaedah kesahihan hadis berimplikasi pada kualitas hadis yang bertingkat, yaitu s}ah}i>h}, h}asan, muwaththaq dan d}a’i>f.

Abstract

This study discusses the concept of clothing ethics in the Hadith and its relevance to the dressing style of contemporary Muslim youth. In Islam, clothing is not merely a physical or cultural necessity but also a moral and spiritual obligation that reflects faith, modesty, and personal dignity. This research employs a library research method with a thematic-conceptual approach to the Hadith, drawing on primary sources from Kutub al-Tis’ah and secondary references such as classical commentaries, scholarly books, and academic journals. The findings reveal that the Prophet’s traditions emphasize several key principles of dress: covering the body appropriately, avoiding arrogance and extravagance in clothing, refraining from imitating the opposite gender, and maintaining simplicity and sincerity of intention. These values remain highly relevant in the modern context, where fashion trends often create a dilemma between religious commitment and popular cultural influences. Therefore, Islamic educational institutions are encouraged to develop a more humanistic and educational approach to da’wah to guide young generations to balance self-expression with moral responsibility. The Hadith-based ethics of clothing can serve as a timeless guide for Muslim youth to express a modern identity while remaining virtuous and dignified.

Abstract

This study examines the development and dissemination of hadith in the Khurasan region, one of the most significant centers in the history of Islamic civilization. Hadith entered Khurasan during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan RA, coinciding with the Muslim conquest of the region. Although the initial transmission of hadith was limited due to the deaths of several Companions in battle, the growth of hadith studies did not cease. The generations of tabi‘in and tabi‘al-tabi‘in played a crucial role in revitalizing the hadith tradition in Khurasan, producing numerous renowned scholars recognized for their authority, such as Abdullah ibn alMubarak, Imam al-Bukhari, Imam Muslim, and al-Bayhaqi. Employing a qualitative method with a literature-based approach, this research draws from classical hadith collections, scholarly books, journals, and relevant articles. The findings indicate that Khurasan not only served as a hub for hadith teaching and transmission but also became the birthplace of various sub-disciplines of hadith, including ‘Ilal al-Hadith, Jarh wa Ta‘dil, and Tarikh al-Ruwah. Consequently, Khurasan played a pivotal role in preserving the authenticity of hadith and shaping the intellectual networks of the Islamic world in the East.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyse the methods of preaching and education applied by the Prophet Muhammad SAW in the book Aṣālību ar-Rasūl Ṣallallāhu ʿAlaihi Wa Sallama fī ad-Da‘wah wa at-Tarbiyah to reveal their relevance and contextualisation with formal education today. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach with text analysis, which aims to contextualise the values of the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) methods of preaching and education in today's formal education system. The researcher found three important points outlined in the book. First, the nature and characteristics of the Prophet consist of eight traits, namely: compassion, patience, intelligence, humility, generosity, forgiveness, integrity of character, and love for his profession. Second, the methods of da'wah used by the Prophet Muhammad SAW, such as the strategy of giving, the strategy of gifts, and the strategy of sending letters. Third, the Prophet's educational methods included lectures and hands-on practice, motivating students, active learning through question and answer methods, fostering emotional bonds between educators and students, paying attention to students' physical and psychological development, and instilling the value of ukhuwah (brotherhood). The results of this study show that the methods of da'wah and education used by the Prophet Muhammad SAW are relevant for application in modern formal education systems.

Abstract

This study explores the role of tawakal in overcoming imposter syndrome from an Islamic perspective. Tawakal, which is the concept of surrendering to Allah, is considered an effective approach to managing the anxiety and feelings of inadequacy that often arise in imposter syndrome. This study investigates three aspects of tawakal, namely taslim and tafwidh aspects of tawakkal, as a holistic approach that combines spirituality with mental health. Through a qualitative study, this research shows that tawakal is not just a passive attitude, but an active process that can change the way we view ourselves and our surroundings. The application of the principles of tawakal has proven to have great potential in reducing the symptoms of imposter syndrome, giving individuals inner peace despite facing various challenges. Although some previous studies have discussed the relationship between tawakal and academic anxiety, as well as imposter syndrome with academic anxiety, research that specifically examines the role of tawakal in overcoming imposter syndrome is still rare. This study fills the void and emphasizes the need for further studies, especially in analyzing the hadith about tawakal from the sanad and matan perspectives.

Abstract

Abstract

The phenomenon of ta’aruf (getting to know a prospective spouse before marriage) as an Islamic alternative to dating has become increasingly popular in the digital era, particularly through da’wah content on YouTube. This study is guided by three main questions: how are hadiths on ta’aruf delivered by preachers, how does the audience influence their delivery strategies, and how do variations in style affect the understanding of the da’wah message. The method used is qualitative content analysis by examining four sermons from Ustadz Muhammad Nuzul Dzikri, Ustadz Khalid Basalamah, Ustadz Faqih Abdul Kadir, and Ustadz Syafiq Riza Basalamah. The findings indicate that each preacher adapts their style, format, and language to the characteristics of the intended audience: Nuzul Dzikri employs a relaxed and communicative style with light humor, Khalid Basalamah uses a visual podcast format with a direct and applicative approach, Faqih Abdul Kadir presents an academic and contextual analysis, while Syafiq Riza Basalamah combines a formal-popular style with emotional emphasis. This study contributes to contemporary hadith scholarship by affirming that digital da’wah strategies not only convey normative texts but also build connections with audiences through diverse forms of communication. The conclusion underscores that despite differences in methods, the core message remains consistent: the importance of ta’aruf as a sharia-compliant alternative in building an Islamic marriage. However, the limitation of this study iles in its restricted scope of preachers and media platforms, which calls for further research to broaden the context and examine the real impact of audience reception.

Abstract

Hadith constitutes an authoritative source of Islamic law after the Qur’an. However, throughout its history, its authority has been subject to continuous re-examination, both through isnād (chain of transmission) and matn (content) criticism. This article examines contemporary discourses on ḥadīth criticism and their implications for the authority of hadith by tracing classical and modern literature and comparing them with the views of contemporary Muslim hadith scholars. The findings reveal that contemporary hadith discourse can be mapped into three major perspectives: Orientalists, Occidentalists, and contemporary Muslim scholars. Orientalists such as Goldziher, Schacht, Juynboll, and others, who predominantly employed historical criticism as their main analytical tool, tend to regard hadith as a later socio-political construct, thereby casting doubt on its authority to a significant extent. Their critiques have influenced certain Occidentalist figures who highlight methodological weaknesses within the hadith tradition, particularly in transmission, codification, and the subjective nature of isnād evaluation, with a stronger emphasis on matn criticism. While the critiques of Orientalists and their resonance among modern Muslim thinkers reflect a concern that has encouraged more rigorous and comprehensive engagement with hadith studies among contemporary scholars, they often remain reductive and ahistorical. In response, contemporary hadith scholars such as Nūr al-Dīn ʻItr, al-Idlibī, al-Sibāʿī, and al-Jawābī assert that both isnād and matn criticism had in fact been practiced since the early period, even though methodological frameworks were conceptually systematized at a later stage. Consequently, the substantive authority of hadith as a normative Islamic text remains intact. This article underscores the relevance and urgency of hadith criticism methodologies in addressing modern challenges while reaffirming the central position of hadith within Islamic authority.
